What is RDDOS? [Ransom Dedicated Denial of Service attack]

A ransom DDoS attack, also known as a distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) extortion attack, is a type of cyberattack where the attacker threatens to launch a DDoS attack against the victim unless a ransom is paid. The attacker may or may not have already launched a small-scale DDoS attack as a proof of concept.

DDoS attacks work by flooding a website or network with traffic from multiple sources, making it unavailable to legitimate users. This can cause significant financial losses to businesses, as well as damage to their reputation.

Ransom DDoS attacks are becoming increasingly common, as they are a relatively easy way for attackers to make money. The attackers often target organizations that they believe are more likely to pay the ransom, such as financial institutions, e-commerce businesses, and government agencies.


STEP 1: SELECT YOUR TARGET

Find a small to midsize business who's business model puts a heavy reliance on their website/servers. You can find businesses by simply Googling keywords and going to later pages. Small crypto casinos, P2P exchanges, any saleswebsite, you name it. Additionally you can try to look on LinkedIn to see if they have a large IT department, if not, they're the perfect target.

STEP 2: LAUNCH AN EXAMPLE ATTACK

Start off by booting their server/website offline for half an hour during primetime traffic, this attack should be done without prior contact to the owner/staff! You don't want to put them offline all day, but you definitely want to hit them for longer than just a couple of minutes

STEP 3: Ransom note

Now that we're sure they noticed the outage, we'll send them a simple email [through business contact email, direct contact address of employee, etc] confirming that the outage was caused by you and you'll do it again unless ransom is paid. It's important to ask for small amounts such as $250-$500 instead of asking for $10k. This is because payments aren't likely to go through if their cost/effort of mitigating the attack is less costly than paying the ransom.

STEP 4: PRESSURE

Now keep the pressure up, put their site offline and let it come back up for 5 minutes. This is important as it'll give other customers/users time to complain and flood their support staff or other communication mediums. Continue attacking until they've either paid or successfully mitigated the attack.

STEP 5: REPEAT

Do this with multiple companies/targets and whenever someone pays the ransom, enjoy it!
