  1. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  2. So we came up with some points
  3. overall you're honestly doing a great job
  4. we just want to make sure you'd ok with the job parameters
  5. so to that end
  6. >moderating will rely on her being able to reach a decision/outcome without applying the rules to the majority of situations that are against the rules, and won't require discipline action
  7. >situations not in the rules will require discipline action
  8. if you think you can work with those scenarios
  9. then we're smooth sailing
  10. chililily03/09/2019
  11. the wording on the first point is tripping me up a little, could you elaborate?
  12. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  13. Ok so there are a lot of times when people "break the rules" but we don't discipline them bc they're minor offenses ie things that lead to verbal warnings or reminders rather than actual warnings
  14. it's about learning to read which situations are which
  15. chililily03/09/2019
  16. oh yeah, I feel like I'm fairly clear on that although since it's being brought up
  17. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  18. ok, i mean this is just me checking in
  19. to make sure you feel comfortable with it
  20. i mean it's never comfortable but you do learn more
  21. chililily03/09/2019
  22. yeah, I can pick up on things through observation and such, it just takes a lot longer
  23. hence the questions and argumentation sometimes, those are all attempts to pin down some things so I have something a lil more solid to work with
  24. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  25. yeah that makes sense
  26. cool  it's something we can pay attn to
  27. do you remember when your trial is up?
  28. chililily03/09/2019
  29. mm march 13 I think, although february being a shorter month, if it's 30 days it would be a little after that
  30. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  31. ok, we'll check in again next week then
  32. chililily03/09/2019
  33. aight
  34. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  35. any questions for me or the execs at large
  36. chililily03/09/2019
  37. not much in particular, although I've been thinking a bit about how to best diffuse conflict in lounge and such. I don't really like being aggressive but it's kind of been my fall-back, and been wondering about better ways to go about it
  38. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  39. hmm.
  40. sometimes we have to put our feet down
  41. the more you can phrase things as questions the better
  42. and don't say "or else" yknow but basically like, This conversation has to end or it we will need to continue it in private
  43. leaving that "open ending" of "we can talk about it" alos helps
  44. chililily03/09/2019
  45. yeah...I just remember, when I was on the other side of things, being told to simply drop conversations was often rather frustrating to me. it kind of adds a sense of not being heard, yknow? but getting more involved than that in a public channel also doesn't seem ideal
  46. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  47. right which is why offering the private space to talk to a mod usually diffuses because it's a threat but not a
  48. threat
  49. and it says ok we'll hear your side
  50. but also says it's inapprops to talk here
  51. chililily03/09/2019
  52. mm, I do like that approach and I've done it at least once. it doesn't seem like something that's used often though, or it could just be that contexts sometimes don't allow easily for that
  53. oh, now that I think about it
  54. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  55. it's very often that contexts don't allow but i think we can also teach the others
  56. chililily03/09/2019
  57. I had a question about situations where more than one person involved is brought into muted/office
  58. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  59. sure
  60. chililily03/09/2019
  61. particularly in the last case there was a lot of "I'm the one getting targeted, what about the rest?" sentiments going on
  62. which brought up the question of like, how much to disclose about others' situations in that case
  63. like normally it's usually not really appropriate to discuss moderating actions made regarding other members, but in that kind of case not disclosing can contribute to a feeling of mistreatment and such
  64. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  65. So in that case we usually say "The other party(s) are being addressed as well but we do not share what disciplinary actions, if any, are taken. You'd have to ask them."
  66. chililily03/09/2019
  67. alright
  68. ❀ ȥҽɳ ❀03/09/2019
  69. If it's something like the other person got banned
  70. you can tell that that they got banned but not the specific reason
  71. the rest of it is just privacy stuff
  72. i lean on that a lot
  73. "for the privacy of our other users"
  74. i need to run afk for a few -- feel free to leave more questions if you want to! :zenhrt:
  75. chililily03/09/2019
  76. I think that's probably it for now, thanks o/
