  3. Power Points: 1
  4. Range: Smarts
  5. Duration: Instant
  6. Trappings: Concentration
  7. Changing Trappings
  8. Should a psionicist be allowed to change his
  9. trappings to take advantage of a situation? For
  10. example, can he use a pyrokinetic blast against a
  11. combustible target and then use the same power
  12. with a cryogenic trapping? That’s up to you.
  13. The argument against is that each trapping
  14. represents a unique ability. Characters should
  15. pick a trapping when they select a power and
  16. that becomes immutable.
  17. For instance, if you have a pyrokinetic blast
  18. then it will always have a fire trapping. If the
  19. psionicist wants to do an electrokinetic blast,
  20. he’ll need to learn a new power.
  21. The argument for is that the psionicist has
  22. a basic understanding of the power, and can
  23. add trappings simply by altering the way his
  24. mind invokes the power. With this method,
  25. the character knows one blast power but can
  26. produce a multitude of special effects.
  27. Which version you prefer is personal choice,
  28. but it should be defined before play begins and
  29. then remain a constant.

  31. Mind reading allows a psionicist to read the minds
  32. of others. With a successful Psionics roll, the psionicist
  33. reads the target’s current surface thoughts. Such
  34. an intrusion goes unnoticed as the psionicist is only
  35. receiving broadcast signals.
