BACKGROUND:

jo was born in the bustling city of cheongdamdong, seoul, south korea, the fashion district of the whole country. she was born in a lovely family of 4, with her parents and her sisters. they lived a happy life together, considering her parents were rich because of their chain of hotel businesses.

at the age of 8, her father had to move to japan in order to settle something there and expand the hotel business of his, and he was going to stay there for more than 10 years or even permanently. of course, this made jo feel devastated, especially at the very young age of just 8, and she cried for 2 weeks straight.

her father’s departure was harder on her than her mother or sister, and made her go to music as a comfort form after hearing soft japanese music about parents’ love. of course, everyday until now, she still calls her dad. but from there, she dwelled into the depths of kpop, and her stage of loving music began.

she was a big fan of many kpop groups, and often went to concerts to sing along with them. she was extremely happy in those times, and even thought about joining a company. from then, her passion from dance and singing started to grow and grow, making her convince her mom to take lessons on them. she of course, didn’t forget about her academics as her mother made a deal that if she were to do well in school, she can take the lessons.

when jo had a birthday party with her family at the age of 10, she saw her father walking towards them. of course, it made jo emotional and cry hard in public, but she didn’t care about it, but that wasn’t the best part. her father was able to let them move in japan for her education in middle school only, and by them, i mean the whole family, with him. of course, it was a bittersweet gift, she’d leave her friends for a few years, but then she’d be able to be with her dad everyday, and that’s what she wanted. so she accepted the offer, and off they went to japan.

it was difficult for her to adjust at first, but since she tried to be as friendly as she can to her new schoolmates, she was able to fit in. because she didn’t want people to translate for her all the time, jo worked hard to study japanese, having all - nighters for it even though she wasn’t even a teenager yet. she just didn’t want to feel left out, and she wanted to show everyone that she’s that good at academics and arts, just so that she could impress them and make them become friends with her. she wasn’t really bullied, but she was teased for being the foreigner in the classroom, with people thinking she wouldn’t be as smart as she was in korea, but she proved them wrong.

but, jo had to move back to korea when she was 13, as her dad’s contract with the person who was sponsoring them to let them stay in japan ended. of course, jo was again, extremely sad, but wasn’t as emotional as the first time her dad left. she vowed to give him a call everyday, and tell him about her day. their bond just grew as they were farther apart.

one faithful day when she was 15, she was walking in the streets and past pledis entertainment, when a talent scout suddenly came up to her, and asked if she ever wanted to audition for the company. frozen in her place, jo made sure it was legit, and even went into the real pledis entertainment building with the scout. shocked at what was happening to her, jo happily accepted and went into auditions, not thinking of what would happen next even after all of this.

though she was nervous, she gave it her all for the auditions, using all she learned from her dance and vocal lessons. they allowed her to sing and dance to japanese or koreansongs, especially since she had told them that she was fluent in both languages. after 2 months since the incident, she finally got accepted. of course, her parents were so proud of her, and her dad even went as far as to build a new hotel named after her for her and go back to korea for a week even though hr even got into a fight with another high staff member.

from then, she started training, and it was the one of the hardest things in her life. it was tough competition, and all the girls there were fighting to get a spot in the new girl group, but jo didn’t care. yeah, she wanted to dbeut, but all she REALLY wanted to do was to train hard, so that it would be the ceo himself to like jo and make her debut. luckily, that was the case.

the ceo always liked jo for her natural, child - like, and kind personality, but amazing skills since she reminded him of his own daughter. he was always proud of her, and always gave her a big round of applause during the monthly evaluations. but of course, there were times when jo trained so much, that she started to think she would never debut because of it, even with the support of the staff and the ceo himself.

but after so many years, she finally got a spot in the new girl group. this made her feel so proud of her efforts, and so thankful to herself that she encouraged herself to not quit. and with her hard work and perseverance, they’re now one of the most popular girl groups ever and over - achieving rookies.

she gets along with her members really well, as most of them were her friends in the trainee days. she’s one of the most popular members in the group, even though only having the position of lead vocalist and lead dancer. she feels great about her achievements, and still works even harder to ensure their success.

    —  as sweet as she looks, jo is 100% a child at heart. she loves to play pranks on her friends, and even considers it as a hobby. for example, she put a bucket of flour on top of the door as a prank, and as soon as one of her friends opened it, the flour fell on her. needless to say, jo was hysterical. she also loves to play games, crack unintentionally funny jokes, and more. she’s 23, but her mental age is honestly just 5.

    —  jo CANNOT keep her mouth shut for even just one minute. she’s really really talkative and loud, making her a moodsetter and the life of the party. she’s basically the oldest and the one who’s in charge of making the happy virus line burst everyone’s eardrums out with her, even though she’s older than most of her members. she’s really rowdy, and screams a lot without even noticing it, even her laugh is pretty damn loud.

    — behind that devilish front of jo, is a sweet angel who’s willing to do anything for her friends. she always stands up for them and protects them with all her might, no matter what happens. she even apologises and helps her friends after she does a major prank on them which could have a health effect on them or something, or when she leaves her members for a bit and they get hurt by something. one time, she even got beat up, and beat up a bunch of people who made fun of her friends.

    —  it’s not that jo is like a guy, but she’s called boyish because she blends in well in a group of guys. she’s not shy with them because of her outgoing personality, and is honestly more comfortable with hanging around with guys than girls because of her father introducing her to her goddamn uncles who wanted to turn her into that cool ans sporty niece. plus, most of her guy friends and her share the same interests like playing video and physical games, pranking, and more.

‧    drawing  |  she actually sucks at drawing, and can onky draw stickmen, but she still draws because her own ugly drawing make her laugh so hard. she doesn’t care if someone says her art is ugly, especially since she knows it's true, and just says ‘i know’ and laughs way too hard.

‧    playing the guitar  |  jo’s favorite instrument is the guitar, so there’s no asking why she would play the guitar almost all the time whenever she’s not doing something. she sings an acoustic song, and serenades her friends. also, if she were in a relationship, she said she’d serenade her love everyday to relax him.

    —  jo loves dogs a lot, probably being the member who hypes up dogs the most. she’s always wanted one ever since she was a kid, but her mom didn’t allow her as her mom didn’t think they had enough time to take care of one. she doesn’t care about the dog’s outside, if they’re cute or so - called ‘ugly’, as she cares about the dog’s wellbeing more. her favorite breeds though are shih - tzus and samoyeds.

    —  jo used to love cats a lot. the thing is, she has trauma from the time a wild cat jumped out of nowhere onto her scalp, making it bleed slightly. now, she really wants to like cats, but the memory of the cat incident always stays fresh in her mind. also, hello kitty really scares her, as it’s a cat and has no mouth, and it honestly just gives her the creeps. i mean, she caNNOT stare at hello kitty for over 5 seconds or she’ll start tearing up.

    —  jo loves salty and spicy food, but when it comes to the very sweet and sugary flavors, jo’s teeth start to hurt. yes, she can eat ice cream, snow cones, mint, milk tea too. but when it’s those literal concentrated sugar candies, jo can’t help but groan in pain.

    —  worms freak jo out by a ton. one time, her mother bought these organic vegetables and put them in the car beside jo. while jo was using her phone, she saw a worm moving towards and near her, making her jump to the back filled with luggages and causing a riot in the car. she’s extremely traumatised by them, and never wants to see one ever again.
