  1. It's only been 2 weeks and they are already back on my phone.
  2.
  3. His parents. I can’t deal with this right now, *ESPECIALLY* at 4 o’clock in the morning. Whatever this is, it needs to be quick. I don't need another set of people telling me they know what I'm feeling right now.
  4.
  5. Yeah. Uh-huh. Right.
  6.
  7. What?
  8.
  9. They went to the police about something. Something that was carrying his pendant. Something beastly.
  10.
  11. Something to do with Tanner.
  12.

  14.
  15. I’m already at their house by the next day. His family has always owned a relatively large farm. A wheat farm, one of the biggest in the area. A square covering 500 acres. He never talked about it, and to be honest I never cared about it. This is the first time I got to see the Albright Farm.
  16.
  17. “Let’s see, 11 Sable Road”
  18.
  19. The road is dirt, but well patted down. It’s obviously been traveled often recently, due to the large amounts of tire tracks leading to and from the property. And standing full front and center, looming ominously over the land, is the Albright House. It’s not very big, a simple 2-story white painted farmhouse, but its atmosphere was almost choking. And the look on the Albrights' faces didn't help.
  20.
  21. I’ve met them once, on a Thanksgiving. They are flagrantly religious, and in their eyes, seeing their “pure” son with an... alternative, person like me was apparently life-threatening. They DID look at me like their son had brought a wolf into the dining room. But after a while, we learned to tolerate each other. And for the first time, they seemed to be GLAD to see me.
  22.
  23. They welcomed me into their home, and brought me into their living room. There were 4 people there. Mr. and Mrs. Albright, and his younger siblings Garrett and Nevaeh, or Nevvy.
  24.
  25. It takes only a few more moments for us to be in a pseudo intervention set up, with the family in a semicircle in front of me.
  26.
  27. “Ok am I going to ask or are you guys gonna tell me why I’m here?”
  28.
  29. “We… are experiencing something. We thought you may know what”
  30.
  31. “And by “experiencing”, you mean...”
  32.
  33. “Daddy and me saw a monster the other night!”
  34.
  35. Nevvy looks up at me. Apparently this sighting with their father was a mix of terrifying and exciting, because she wanted to tell me ALL about it.
  36.

  38.
  39. Last night, they were sitting, watching TV. It was uneventful. Some conservative news network, when they head the trash being rummaged through behind the house, and then the sound of the trash being thrown. Garrett was the first out, and he saw the mess firsthand. He told me how it looked like something had picked up the trash can and thrown it 26ft across the yard into the field. Mr. Albright reported seeing 6 small creatures sprinting into the field. It was that moment when they heard Nevvy's window break.
  40.
  41. Nevvy saw it come in. A hulking, brown and red aberration. It had red streaks of blood coming off of it and easily smashed her window. In its hand, it carried a necklace. THE necklace. It quickly ran from her room, and what happened next they didn't see. They only saw the results of this creature's apparent ransacking of Tanner's room.
  42.
  43. They showed me the windows. They showed me the trash can. I didn't expect the level of carnage in Tanner's room. His bed was on its side, papers and folders everywhere, his computer embedded in the wall, with the hard drives ripped out. My heart ran up in my chest, because this beast knew where all of his info was. This beast was after our studies.
  44.
  45. I... am not exactly the most christian girl around. During my semester with Tanner I was really big into what's colloquially known as "*The Dark Arts*". In particular him and I looked into a famous engineers work, Henry Fasbach. He was really big into the study of the human soul and "Spirit." Of course, I never bought any of it, but Tanner did. He was obsessed with it, devouring every book, writing in journals day in and day out. He would tell me of the... Experiments, he would do. He cracked something, and then he left. Without his research. Without me.
  46.
  47. I told them everything I could do. I went and bought salt and sage. I borrowed a crucifix from their wall. I wasn't going into this unprepared, I WOULD catch this thing. It knows Tanner. It has his necklace. I'm not giving up on him like I did last time.
  48.

  50.
  51. It's 2 in the afternoon. As I step into the Albrights' garage, I see Mr. Albright working on his car.
  52.
  53. “Hey. Do you guys have any cameras I can set up?”
  54.
  55. He slid out from under his car, and walked silently to the tool shelf and pulled out an IR Hunting camera. He marched over to me, and forcefully put it into my hand. As I pulled back, he grabbed my arm, and looked me in the eye.
  56.
  57. “Listen. I'm glad you know enough about this witchcraft shit to help us. But I want you to know, and remember. It was you who got him into this stuff. And as far as I'm concerned? The darkest pit of hell is waiting for you.”
  58.
  59. I pulled back. I've never ran out of a place quicker.
  60.
  61. ***
  62.
  63. Nightime. I've set up the hunting camera, hooked it up outside the house, put a salt ring around the house. Everything is good. I even have the cross next to me in case things go south.
  64.
  65. Thats when I saw it. 12 AM: a brown bear-like creature comes into view. It's towering over the wheat field in which it's coming from, and it looks like it's SPRINTING. Before the bear comes out however, a smaller figure emerges. An... animatronic? It looks like one of those robots Tanner always talked about. A yellow chicken/duck thing is running in what looks like abject terror from whatever beast is in the wheat. Just as it leaves the wheat the smaller robot, caught off-guard by the sudden lack of resistance, trips forward and plows headfirst into the dirt.
  66.
  67. It barely even had time to stand back up before the beast emerged and was upon its prey in an instant. It was over 6 feet tall, and monstrous. It was wrapped in red string, and it had soulless, black eyes. From its belly, a claw emerged. As the monster bore down upon the other robot, it grabbed the robot's neck, pulled it close, and struck it in the chest with the claw.
  68.
  69. Immediately the robot fell to its knees. From its chest, a black fluid began to flow... upwards. The whole sight was starting to sicken me. Seeing this thing being tortured by that bear? I nearly threw up when the bear opened its gaping maw and a cloud of flies flew out, like it was rotting on the inside and it was only now letting the carcass air out. Suddenly the strings on its body moved, and unwrapped, forming several hundred small tentacles. As it held its prey still, the tentacles moved down into the hole created by this creature's claw. Black fluid seemed to flow up the strings, moving up the bear into its jaw.
  70.
  71. As it drained the robot, the robot seemed to age and decay. Its fur fell off, its lower beak withered and cracked, soon disappearing altogether. Its limbs cracked and twisted as its panicked squealing died down, and soon it had become a limp, soulless, colorless husk. The bear retracted its strings, wrapped them, and contorted in what looked like an orgasm. I'm not joking. Its face turned to the sky, its jaw twitching, and it let out a scream I could hear from the house. I vomited.
  72.
  73. I could see it approach the house. It wouldn't be able to do anything past the salt, I knew. If this thing was a spirit, it wouldn't be able to cross that path no matter what. I saw it approach the living room window, a bay window connecting right into the yard. This thing walked up to the window, just behind the salt line, looked down at the salt, and shook. Immediately from its body 6 plushies emerged. I stepped back in shock, thinking it was going to send its minions flying through the window. Soon however, the plushies were seemingly scattering into the wheat, out of view. The bear reached down, amd I saw him simply brush away some salt, and walk towards the window.
  74.
  75. As he approached, I moved back, falling over a table. I saw it open its maw, letting another swarm of flies loose. It raised it hands, ready to smash through the window. But then it saw me. It froze, and I got up, grabbing the cross and pointing it towards the window. It… wasn't moving. At all. It was just staring. It placed its hand on the window, and on its wrist was the necklace. HIS NECKLACE. I moved towards it slowly, and realized something. I looked into its eyes and felt a familiar, warm presence behind them. I placed my hand on the window, meeting it. I looked into its eyes. It...
  76.
  77. It was him.
  78.
  79. It ran, and I fainted. The doctors told me I had passed out from exhaustion; I thought I heard something about low blood pressure, but I didn't care. He was alive. In a different form, but alive.
  80.
  81. I was going to find him.
  82.
