In China, we used Gaode Maps, one of the popular Chinese map apps, and Apple Maps. Gaode Maps is unfortunately all in Chinese, but I found it to be the most commonly used by locals, as well as the most reliable. Apple Maps didn't have all the locations we were looking for, but it helped us double-check transit and where we were. Links below are to Gaode--while it's all in Chinese, hopefully it can give you an approximate location to orient yourself.
