  1. [arriving at the keep]
  2.
  3. You follow Seortiae in to Before a great basalt keep.
  4.
  5. Before a great basalt keep (indoors).
  6. A sigil in the shape of a small, rectangular monolith is on the ground. A runic totem is planted solidly in the ground. An obsidian eye sigil is here. Lying flat on the ground is a key-shaped sigil. Standing discreetly off to one side is a smartly-dressed butler, hands clasped behind his back. Perched sentinel-like upon a high vantage point, a sleek grey shrike silently surveys his domain. A sinuous golden wyrm is here, gazing absently into the distance.
  7. You see exits leading north (closed door), northeast, and out (closed door).
  8.
  9. A distinguished butler says, "Ah, greetings, lords and ladies."
  10.
  11. Conservatively yet immaculately dressed in a simple, functional uniform of black wool trousers, a white linen shirt and dark leather shoes, this man exudes an air of quiet confidence and impeccable courtesy. His close-cropped black hair seems to be greying slightly at the temples, and the presence of lines around his eyes and mouth hint at the beginnings of middle age. Nonetheless, he carries his lean six-foot frame straight and tall, never faltering in his perfect posture, and his keen blue gaze misses nothing. A gleaming silver pendant embossed with the ferocious Nithilar panther dangles from a steel chain looped around his neck, a reminder of his allegiances and an indication of his elevated status among the servants. He is called 'Jivas.'
  12. A distinguished butler is a humble-looking creature.
  13. He has 100% health remaining.
  14. He weighs about 180 pounds.
  15. He is loyal to Jurixe.
  16. You see nothing in it.
  17.
  18. A distinguished butler says, "If you would present your invitations to me?"
  19.
  20. A distinguished butler says, "Members of House Nithilar, please, on your way."
  21.
  22. Seortiae inclines her head to the butler.
  23.
  24. You say to a distinguished butler, "Jivas."
  25.
  26. Ysela rummages through her things.
  27.
  28. Chiam says to a distinguished butler in a thick, hoarse voice, "This is my keep."
  29.
  30. Seortiae begins to follow you.
  31.
  32. Seortiae flashes Chiam a joyous smile.
  33.
  34. A distinguished butler says, "I know your faces, of course."
  35.
  36. Ysela gives an austere black letter to a distinguished butler.
  37.
  38. Bowing slightly as he accepts the given item, a distinguished butler disposes of it quickly and discreetly.
  39.
  40. You say to Seortiae, "Go on ahead, Insid'ari."
  41.
  42. Seortiae opens the door to the north.
  43.
  44. A distinguished butler says, "Welcome, welcome. Please step through."
  45.
  46. Stheno nods with a bright little smile, rifling through her pack. She presents a slip of paper with elegant, curling script in black ink.
  47.
  48. Ysela nods at a distinguished butler.
  49.
  50. A distinguished butler says, "Ah, hmm. A member of the I'llur family."
  51.
  52. Stheno nods her head emphatically.
  53.
  54. A distinguished butler says, "We have not seen one of your name in some time."
  55.
  56. Stheno says brightly in a sweet, silvery voice, "Riselle."
  57.
  58. Stheno says in a sweet, silvery voice, "I was pleased to receive the invitation."
  59.
  60. A distinguished butler says, "Allow me to bid you welcome on behalf of the Nithilar family. Please proceed."
  61.
  62. A vast stone hall (indoors).
  63. A runic totem is planted solidly in the ground. A short throne rests here. A sigil in the shape of a small, rectangular monolith is on the ground. A logosmas stocking has been hung here, awaiting gifts. A silken tapestry hangs on the wall, depicting Evil's triumph over Chaos. An obsidian eye sigil is here. There are 2 water weirds here. Insid'ari Seortiae Nithilar is here. The Black Dragon Chiam's imposing form looms. Dread Ecclesiarch Ysela, Chaplain of Torment is here. Her features are obscured by an oval mask. She wields a Shield of Absorption in her right hand. Gilded Stheno, Unholy Phantom is here. Her face is partially concealed beneath the raised hood of a white velvet cloak trimmed with silver fox fur. She wields an elegant damask silk fan in her left hand and a small hand mirror in her right. Jurixe S. Nithilar is here.
  64. You see exits leading north (open door), northeast (open door), south (open door), northwest (open door), and up.
  65. The door to the south slams shut.
  66.
  67. Ysela smiles and says to Jurixe in Mhaldorian in a quiet yet steady voice, "Thank you, and thank you for the invitation."
  68.
  69. Stheno carefully lowers the hood on a white velvet cloak trimmed with silver fox fur.
  70.
  71. Stheno curtseys respectfully before Jurixe.
  72.
  73. Jurixe nods her dark head slightly, turning away as she moves to greet other guests.
  74.
  75. Seortiae tells you in Mhaldorian, "Which one is Marla again?"
  76.
  77. Your voice quietly thrums as you tell Seortiae, "The maid I do believe."
  78.
  79. Slowly, people begin to trickle into the hall, pausing to marvel at the decor and greet acquaintances.
  80.
  81. Jurixe nods her head slightly as an elderly couple come up to her, making their greetings.
  82.
  83. Jurixe says in Mhaldorian in a low, silken voice, "Of course, we are pleased you could come."
  84.
  85. The gentle cadence of soft chatter, tinkling glasses and the occasional laughter ebbs and flows around the great hall.
  86.
  87. A few pause as they pass by the Mhaldorian adventurers, trying not to gawk at them.
  88.
  89. You say to Chiam, "So good to see the halls lively again, wouldn't you agree?"
  90.
  91. Chiam says in a thick, hoarse voice, "It has been a while since, aye."
  92.
  93. The gentle cadence of soft chatter, tinkling glasses and the occasional laughter ebbs and flows around the great hall.
  94.
  95. Some way away, Jurixe accepts a gift from another noble, handing it off to a servant as she inclines her head.
  96.
  97. "Quite the impressive place," murmurs a young woman, arm-in-arm with a well-dressed man as she walks by.
  98.
  99. Ysela says to Stheno in Mhaldorian in a quiet yet steady voice, "Have you visited here before, Phantom?"
  100.
  101. Seortiae nods in greeting to the couple.
  102.
  103. Stheno tilts her head curiously at Ysela.
  104.
  105. You say to Seortiae, "Everything to your approval, Insid'ari?"
  106.
  107. Stheno says shyly to Ysela in a sweet, silvery voice, "Ah, you must have me mistaken for someone else."
  108.
  109. A group of young men over by the statues try to avoid being caught staring at the Mhaldorian ladies.
  110.
  111. Ysela coughs softly.
  112.
  113. Jurixe opens the door to the south.
  114.
  115. A tall butler strides crisply in from the south.
  116.
  117. Seortiae says to you in Mhaldorian with a soft accent, "I am having trouble locating Marla. I hope she wasn't sampling the cook's preparations or she may never be found."
  118.
  119. Ysela says to Stheno in Mhaldorian in a quiet yet steady voice, "Oh. I must have, yes."
  120.
  121. A youthful man playfully tries to sit on the short throne. A stern glance from the nearby guards quickly put him off.
  122.
  123. Stheno says in a sweet, silvery voice, "I'd heard the Keep was grand, but this is something else entirely."
  124.
  125. Favouring everyone with a charming smile, Redessa Brightgard steps in from the south.
  126.
  127. Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden exclaims, "My, my. What a delightful gathering!"
  128.
  129. A young woman in the full flower of her youth, Redessa's beauty is plain for all to see. Long honey-gold braids wind into an elaborate hairstyle that draws more attention to her large blue eyes and fine, delicate features. Full lips part often into a bright, welcoming smile, but it rarely seems to reach her gaze. Her willowy figure is clad in a rich red velvet dress, accentuated by a multitude of sparkling silver necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets. She often touches or intentionally moves to display the pieces on her body, as if showing them off to everyone present. She is called 'Redessa.'
  130. Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden is a humble-looking creature.
  131.
  132. "Welcome, welcome," Chiam says graciously.
  133.
  134. Heavy footfalls are heard long before Staran Hammerfall enters from the south.
  135.
  136. Tall and muscular with rough, callused hands, this middle-aged man is clearly used to hard labour. Short salt-and-pepper hair falls into small dark eyes, set in a deeply lined, weathered face. A large nose juts out above a scowling mouth, hinting at a bad temper. A starched cotton shirt, black trousers and leather shoes suggest an attempt at formal dress, but the effect is spoiled by black smudges of rock dust on his shirt and cheek. He always seems to have a tankard of ale in his hand, and leers obviously at passing women when not loudly airing his grievances. He is called 'Staran.'
  137. Staran Hammerfall, leader of the mining workers is a humble-looking creature.
  138.
  139. You say to Seortiae, "Ahh, not to worry, surely there is enough for all. Her appetite cannot be so large."
  140.
  141. The heavy clink of metal on stone announces the entrance of Vaden Bardcas.
  142.
  143. Sturdily built, this soldier is dressed head-to-toe in a resilient suit of shining fieldplate. Clear brown eyes sweep constantly over his surroundings, and one gauntleted hand rests warily on the hilt of his sheathed scimitar. Despite his militaristic appearance, his manner is affable and easygoing, irreverent grins often lighting up his chiseled features. Artfully styled, his dark hair curves fetchingly over his brow, betraying a hint of vanity. A large metal shield is strapped over his back, clearly heavy, yet his straight posture gives no indication of feeling the weight. He is called 'Vaden.'
  144. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep is a humble-looking creature.
  145.
  146. Redessa spots Jurixe and immediately glides to her, offering a low curtsey.
  147.
  148. Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden says, "Lady Nithilar, such an honour to receive your invitation."
  149.
  150. Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden exclaims, "It's been a while since I've visited - actually, this might be my first time!"
  151.
  152. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep says, "Look where all the wealth has gone! A luxurious hall, indeed."
  153.
  154. Staran tromps from the doorway, his eyes immediately searching for the nearest drinks foregoing all pretense.
  155.
  156. Jurixe nods her dark head slightly in return to Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden.
  157.
  158. You say to Seortiae, "Excuse me a moment."
  159.
  160. Jurixe says to Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden in Mhaldorian in a low, silken voice, "It may be at that. We have not held such large gatherings before."
  161.
  162. Servants bearing silver trays of food and drink wind themselves slowly around the guests, pausing to offer them to any who show interest.
  163.
  164. Stheno gazes around the hall with slowly widening eyes, watching the ebb and flow of guests as they arrive. She smiles at Vaden and nods her agreement.
  165.
  166. Some men fail to conceal their hungry gazes as Redessa walks past, following her with their eyes.
  167.
  168. Jurixe raises an eyebrow at Staran Hammerfall, leader of the mining workers.
  169.
  170. Crixos settles into a more inconspicuous corner as he sees Ysela.
  171.
  172. You say to Ysela, "It has been a while, Chaplain."
  173.
  174. A tall butler strides crisply in from the north.
  175.
  176. A distinguished butler says, "Perhaps I can offer anyone drinks?"
  177.
  178. Liliting melodies weave their way through the area from the string quartet playing upon the dais.
  179.
  180. Chiam nods his head at a distinguished butler.
  181.
  182. Ysela smiles and says to you in Mhaldorian in a quiet yet steady voice, "It has indeed. It is good to see you again."
  183.
  184. Stheno starts to raise her hand for service, then seems to think better of it. Her eyes linger on the silver serving tray.
  185.
  186. You say to Ysela, "Half a century at the very least. You've done well."
  187.
  188. Seortiae says encouragingly to Stheno in Mhaldorian with a soft accent, "Don't be shy, Phantom. We have a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options."
  189.
  190. Faint amusement gleams in Jurixe's grey eyes as she glances at the cook, but her attention is quickly diverted.
  191.
  192. Ysela says amusedly to you in Mhaldorian in a quiet yet steady voice, "Is it really that long?"
  193.
  194. (House Nithilar): Jurixe says, "Ah, I should have noted. She is in disguise, the Phantom."
  195.
  196. (House Nithilar): Jurixe says, "As a member of House I'llur."
  197.
  198. Ysela says to you in Mhaldorian in a quiet yet steady voice, "Even so, I trust you are well?"
  199.
  200. Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden says, "Oooh."
  201.
  202. Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden exclaims, "Waiter!"
  203.
  204. (House Nithilar): Seortiae says, "Oh...well then."
  205.
  206. (House Nithilar): Jurixe says, "It is fine, none know her title outside of the city."
  207.
  208. (House Nithilar): Jurixe says, "And you would be expected to be familiar with her."
  209.
  210. Noting the raised hand, a young serving boy darts over to Redessa.
  211.
  212. A dour cook stalks over as well, arranging the offered treats on the dish to her satisfaction.
  213.
  214. Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden exclaims, "I think I'd like the...skewer!"
  215.
  216. You say to Ysela, "Indeed it has, though it may not seem like it. Being named as the Dread Ecclesiarch a great honour for you, I imagine."
  217.
  218. Stheno says to Seortiae in a sweet, silvery voice, "Oh! I thought it polite for our hosts to drink first. You are... a Nithilar yourself?"
  219.
  220. The young serving boy nods slightly, and hands Redessa a thin stick with a piece of tenderloin meat.
  221.
  222. Stheno smiles and says to Seortiae in a sweet, silvery voice, "I'm Riselle, Riselle I'llur."
  223.
  224. Stheno extends her hand to Seortiae, a silver bangle glinting on her wrist.
  225.
  226. Jurixe says to a distinguished butler in a low, silken voice, "I think I would have some punch, Jivas."
  227.
  228. A distinguished butler says, "Of course, Lady Nithilar."
  229.
  230. Staran shoves several guests aside as he helps himself to the drinks on the tray, taking two glasses in his hands and tromping off to help himself.
  231.
  232. A distinguished butler gives a glass of Abstainer's Punch to Jurixe S. Nithilar.
  233.
  234. A distinguished butler frowns heavily at Staran's back.
  235.
  236. A distinguished butler says, "Quite the uncouth fellow, that one."
  237.
  238. Seortiae says to Stheno in Mhaldorian with a soft accent, "Of course, Riselle, I think we have met in the City before. I am Seortiae Nithilar, one of the newest to join this family."
  239.
  240. Liliting melodies weave their way through the area from the string quartet playing upon the dais.
  241.
  242. Jurixe flicks her eyes in a subtle roll, shrugging her shoulders in a slight gesture.

  253.
  254. Stheno says to Seortiae in a sweet, silvery voice, "A pleasure to see you this evening, and in such good company."
  255.
  256. Crixos settles down into a corner as he speaks quietly to Ysela, "Following in the very large footsteps of my grandfather." A wry smile evident on his features.
  257.
  258. The serving boy wanders throughout the crowd, offering snacks to those gathered.
  259.
  260. Your voice burns with heat as you tell Seortiae, "It is, yes."
  261.

  267.

  283.
  284. Seortiae narrows her eyes slightly then shakes her head, turning away from the butler.
  285.
  286. Several of the nobles congregate together, chatting loudly but indiscernibly to themselves as they assess each person entering the hall.
  287.
  288. Chiam nods his head at a distinguished butler.
  289.
  290. Jurixe follows Chiam's gaze, then nods her head slightly.

  317.

  325. Jurixe's voice, magically amplified, resonates across the hall.
  326.
  327. Seortiae tells you in Mhaldorian, "Yes, the Lady Nithilar advised me. Now, who are our suspects again? They all came in in such a rush, I did not catch their names."
  328.
  329. Crixos nods his head towards Ysela, "The achiev-". He stops midsentence to look at Jurixe.
  330.
  331. Stheno falls silent, turning her face up to Jurixe.
  332.
  333. Jurixe says in a slightly louder voice, "I thank you for accepting the invitation to attend our gala this fine month."
  334.
  335. Slowly, the gathered crowd hushes as more and more realise that Jurixe is speaking, turning their attention to her.
  336.
  337. A few cheers and whistles can be heard from the crowd.
  338.
  339. Your voice burns with heat as you tell Seortiae, "Redessa owns a large jewellry shop chain, Staran is the head of the largest mining consortium in our region and Vaden is the captain of the guard."
  340.
  341. Jurixe says in a resonant voice, "I will take only a moment of your time. This gala we are holding today is to celebrate our ties between Silberkral and the villages that pledge it fealty."
  342.
  343. Seortiae tells you in Mhaldorian, "Thank you, Exalted. I am anxious to see these miscreants pay for their impudence to our Family."
  344.
  345. Jurixe says in a resonant voice, "We have built a strong relationship over the years, and we are proud to see it continue."
  346.
  347. Jurixe says in a resonant voice, "May all who would dare threaten the sanctity of those under our protection feel our Fury."
  348.
  349. Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden exclaims, "Hear, hear!"
  350.
  351. Redessa claps her hands together.
  352.
  353. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep says, "Well said."
  354.
  355. Jurixe says in a resonant voice, "Please enjoy the food, drink and the conversation. We look forward to many more years in this fruitful relationship."
  356.
  357. Seortiae nods emphatically, a warm smile forming on her lips as she glances casually about the room.
  358.
  359. A smattering of applause fills the hall as the audience gathered clap their hands, and the chatter soon resumes.
  360.
  361. Stheno gives a soft few claps, seeing the room applauding.
  362.
  363. Jurixe steps down from the dais and is almost immediately attended to by a number of nobles, soon engaging her in conversation.
  364.
  365. The serving boy picks up his tray again and continues his rounds. "A lycopod salad will do you good, sir."
  366.
  367. Gathering a few suitors around her, Redessa flirts wittily with a few of them, flashing a bright smile.
  368.
  369. Crixos resumes his conversation with Ysela, "Achievements are hard to live up to, I've noticed. Time is always so fleeting and short."
  370.
  371. Redessa Brightgard, a beautiful maiden says, "I think I'm going to head to the garden, if some of you lads would like to accompany me to see the sights."
  372.
  373. There are no shortage of young men offering accompaniment, and so Redessa walks away, entourage in tow.
  374.
  375. With a tinkling laugh, Redessa Brightgard glides northwards.
  376.
  377. Chiam says in a thick, hoarse voice, "Of course."
  378.
  379. Managing to break away from the crowd for a moment, Jurixe spots Stheno and walks towards her.
  380.
  381. Seortiae moves over towards Staran. She smiles up at him as she approaches and quietly introduces herself.
  382.
  383. Ysela nods at you. "Well, she is rather stunning."
  384.
  385. Stheno slips her cloak from her shoulders, folding it over one arm and adjusting the wave of her hair. She stops at seeing Jurixe's approach.
  386.

  793. Seortiae says to Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep in Mhaldorian with a soft accent, "So your men are apparently never around when the bandits come calling?"
  794.
  795. Chiam focuses as he watches the argument heating up.
  796.
  797. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep says, "No. No, they aren't, because they've got new masters now - paying masters, at that."
  798.
  799. Stheno lifts a hand to her mouth at Vaden's outburst. She steps closer to Staran, apparently seeking protection from the shattered glass.
  800.
  801. Seortiae says to Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep in Mhaldorian with a soft accent, "Could it be that they pay even better yet?"
  802.
  803. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep says, "Yes. They pay -very- well."
  804.
  805. Staran Hammerfall, leader of the mining workers says, "Oh, three pretty ladies. I dunno if I'm young enough for that anymore..."
  806.
  807. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep says, "So well, in fact, that it's time to work with them properly."
  808.
  809. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep exclaims, "Guards! Attack!"
  810.
  811. Staran steps back, falling a bit as he allows Stheno to approach.
  812.
  813. Saluting smartly, Vaden Bardcas turns and marches away to the out.
  814.
  815. Staran Hammerfall, leader of the mining workers says, "Oi, wha?"
  816.
  817. Seortiae glances in alarm at the Lady Nithilar.
  818.
  819. Suddenly, half the guards in the room draw their swords and step forward, hacking and slashing indiscriminately.
  820.
  821. Screams resonate in the air as the nobles begin to turn and flee in all directions.
  822.
  823. Her attention caught, Jurixe looks up and immediately draws her dirk.
  824.
  825. Seortiae says to you in Mhaldorian with a soft accent, "He's getting away, Exalted. We will deal with this."
  826.
  827. (House Nithilar): Jurixe says, "What's going on?"
  828.
  829. (House Nithilar): You say, "Treachery."
  830.
  831. Ysela pushes Staran Hammerfall, leader of the mining workers out of harm's way, pulls a small brazen hair dagger out of her hair and wields an elemental staff in her free hand.
  832.
  833. Jurixe fends off an attack from a rogue guard, rolling to the ground to avoid his slash as she tries to get to the group.
  834.
  835. Seortiae starts throwing lightning bolts at the guards turning them to cinders where they stand...and hopefully missing the curtains.
  836.
  837. You say to Seortiae, "Secure the keep."
  838.
  839. The remaining loyal guards in the room pause, startled, but quickly recover their senses and rush to help.
  840.
  841. A knight steps in front of a fleeing lady, slashing viciously at the traitor. The two grapple for a moment before the traitorous knight gains the upper hand.
  842.
  843. Stheno nods urgently at Ysela, her voice turning steely for a moment, "Hammerfall, you're too drunk for this. Get away."
  844.
  845. Crixos is caught by surprise, a spear piercing the underside of his chest between the soft scales there, his blood spilling freely. He greets the guard back with his claw, pressing him down on the floor.
  846.
  847. Staran Hammerfall, leader of the mining workers says, "Uhh, yeh, you're right, uhh. Offers still on the table if you're alive at the end of this..."
  848.
  849. Chiam steps on the proned guard, crushing his head.
  850.
  851. Seortiae shouts for the loyal guards to protect the guests and prevent the traitors from leaving.
  852.
  853. Sounds of metal clashing and men shouting can be heard coming from the south portcullis.
  854.
  855. Tiptoeing casually in her finery, Ysela ensures she remains between Staran Hammerfall, leader of the mining workers and any traitorous guards, sending the occasional bolt from her staff into the face of any aggressors.
  856.
  857. Stheno flips her silk fan and mirror away with a twist of her wrist, drawing a length of leather from the back of her buttoned gown. She threads her way through the chaos towards Jurixe.
  858.
  859. The sound of fighting echoes about the hall, steel swords clashing with sword.
  860.
  861. Seortiae spins a few vibrations sending several of the traitorous guards to sleep before joining the Lady Nithilar as well.
  862.
  863. Partially wounded, Crixos manages to yell out some additional orders to the guards, "Protect the nobles! Into the meeting room."
  864.
  865. Stheno cracks her lash in a looping arc at a traitorous knight, leveraging her slighter weight to yank him off his armoured feet.
  866.
  867. Stheno exclaims in a steely voice, "Lady Nithilar!"
  868.
  869. Seortiae rushes to start guiding the various guests and nobles, ushering them into the other room while breaking legs and knocking guards flying with various earth and air strikes.
  870.
  871. The sounds of the fighting die down as the rogue guards are beaten back for now.
  872.
  873. A guard rushes into the hall and reports to Crixos Nithilar, 'We're being overwhelmed outside! We need to secure the keep!'
  874.
  875. Ysela sets a crystal cube, a crystal pyramid, a crystal sphere, a cylindrical crystal, a dark crystal spiral, a finely sculptured crystal torus, a milky crystal pentagon, a sharply angled crystal polyhedron, a shimmering crystal diamond, an egg-shaped crystal,
  876. and an opaque crystal disc to spinning in the air alongside her. Faster and faster they spin, until with a humming whine they come together to form a crystalline construct.
  877.
  878. Seortiae tells you in Mhaldorian, "How is the keep secured???"
  879.
  880. You say, "The night is not over yet."
  881.
  882. Stheno nods her head at you.
  883.
  884. Stheno drops a death adder.
  885.
  886. Crixos walks to the grand doors, accompanied by the runner. Surveying the situation he barks out a barrage of orders, "Have them fall back to the hall. We make our stand, here." He takes a step back examining the hall. "The courtyard, the staircase and the grand doors. This is where they'll attack us from. We hold these areas."
  887.
  888. A death adder begins to follow Stheno obediently.
  889.
  890. Your voice burns with heat as you tell Seortiae, "Expertly!"
  891.
  892. Jurixe seems only to be coming to her senses from a blow to her head, pressing a hand to her head as she sits up and takes in her surroundings.
  893.
  894. A group of armed mercenaries break through the south door, swords unsheathed and teeth clenched.
  895.
  896. With a startling cry, the bloodthristy fighters rush headfirst into battle.
  897.
  898. Seortiae kneels near the Lady Nithilar. She surveys the older woman with concern.
  899.
  900. As the door breaks down, the guards by the grand entrance directly engage the encroaching mercenaries streaming through the doorway.
  901.
  902. Chiam says in a thick, hoarse voice, "Take care of the Lady Nithilar."
  903.
  904. Taking advantage of his draconic superiority, Chiam swings his tail around knocking several mercenaries breathless into the air.
  905.
  906. Jurixe shakes her head slightly, trying to clear it.
  907.
  908. You say, "Chiam, Seortiae, guard the southern doorway with those men."
  909.
  910. Seortiae casts a spell over Jurixe and a reflection of her appears next to her.
  911.
  912. Chiam nods his head at you.
  913.
  914. Seortiae says to you in Mhaldorian with a soft accent, "Yes, Exalted."
  915.
  916. The two forces clash with a resounding thunder of steel on steel, and almost immediately, screams of pain and agony resonate through the air.
  917.
  918. Stheno nods at Chiam and moves to block encroachment towards Jurixe, offering a hand from her standing position.
  919.
  920. Seortiae says to Chiam in Mhaldorian with a soft accent, "Should we set up outside?"
  921.
  922. You say to Stheno, "Stheno, you and I will barricade the courtyard."
  923.
  924. The attacking group, greater in number, splits off - one heading directly towards Seortiae.
  925.
  926. You say to Seortiae, "No, remain together."
  927.
  928. Three mercenaries rush headlong to Ysela's position, yelling battle cries as they charge.
  929.
  930. Seortiae throws a lightning bolt quickly in the man's face. He screams as his eyeballs
  931. explode.
  932.
  933. Opening his jaws, Chiam unleashes an acid breath over two out-of-position mercenaries.
  934.
  935. Ysela summons a large shard of ice, and with a flick of her wrist sends the sharp cone hurtling towards the nearest mercenary, impaling him and sending him crashing.
  936.
  937. Stheno says softly to Jurixe in a steely voice, "Lady, they've gone quite rogue."
  938.
  939. Having evidently recovered from the blow, Jurixe picks up her bow and nocks an arrow to it, taking out one of the distant mercenaries.
  940.
  941. That noted, Stheno circles around Jurixe and her fired arrow, before slipping back to your side. She nods affirmatively.
  942.
  943. Murmuring harsh words of elemental incantation, Seortiae sends a barrage of hail out at the attackers.
  944.
  945. Stheno begins to follow you.
  946.
  947. WIthout warning, the northern doors burst open with a loud BANG!
  948.
  949. Seortiae sets a crystal cube, a crystal pyramid, a crystal sphere, a cylindrical crystal, a dark crystal spiral, a finely sculptured crystal torus, a milky crystal pentagon, a sharply angled crystal polyhedron, a shimmering crystal diamond, an egg-shaped crystal, and an opaque crystal disc to spinning in the air alongside her.
  950. Faster and faster they spin, until with a humming whine they come together to form a crystalline construct.
  951.
  952. Crixos begins to pile together a barricade against the northern door, caught by surprise as the mercenaries rush in.
  953.
  954. Having succesfully infiltrated the courtyard of the Keep, a moderately sized group of mercenaries barge into the hall from the northern doors.
  955.
  956. Unprepared, the small squad of guards by the northern doorway are barely able to take up arms against the fierce, rampaging mercenaries.
  957.
  958. Jurixe pauses in her firing to nod at Seortiae, but doesn't have time to respond.
  959.
  960. Ysela takes a blow to her side, but swiftly retaliates with an elementally imbued strike of her staff, while her golem cruelly crushes the life out of another assailant.
  961.
  962. Seortiae sends her golem forth to crush and squeeze the life from the mercenaries. She closes her eyes in concentration as she sends her energy to strengthen its efforts.
  963.
  964. The Nithilar forces manage to hold the front doors for a moment, but the sudden double intrusion catches some of them off guard.
  965.
  966. Claws extended, a wide swing from Chiam's muscular, scaly arms disembowels a charging mercenary as his bloody guts fall to the floor.
  967.
  968. Unprepared, Crixos takes another spear between his scales before unleashing a stream of fiery, draconic power through the doorway.
  969.
  970. Stheno steps back from the sudden influx of armed and armoured men, before the barricade can hold. She presses a hand to blood seeping through the silk roses of her dress, the other firmly gripping her lash as it splits the air with a resounding crack.
  971.
  972. They lose a few in the ensuing chaos, but somehow, the well-trained forces manage to take down two mercenaries for every soldier.
  973.
  974. Jurixe exclaims in a resonant voice, "The front doors are holding! Secure the back!"
  975.
  976. The defenders at the back doors aren't faring so well, the unprepared defenders caught alone or outnumbered.
  977.
  978. Chiam growls menacingly.
  979.
  980. Seortiae cries out as a stray arrow pierces her shoulder. She staggers backwards then reinforces her diamondskin shielding. She glares at the intruders and begins throwing cataclysm bolt after bolt at those attacking the back doors.
  981.
  982. Stheno snarls and drags a snared mercenary against her, throttling him where he stands before a guard of the Keep runs him through.
  983.
  984. Sensing weakness, the mercenaries bear down with greater enthusiasm.
  985.
  986. A group of mercenaries draw near to Jurixe and Seortiae's position, bloodlust in their eyes.
  987.
  988. Out of arrows, Jurixe snaps her whip out of her belthook and cracks it menacingly across one man's face, sending him screaming as he tumbles to the ground.
  989.
  990. Bleeding profusely from his wounds, Crixos manages to hoist a mercenary up, flinging him up midair and swallowing him whole with a resounding *crack*.
  991.
  992. Tables and chairs are reduced to splinters as some of the mercenaries begin throwing them at the guards, who slash them away with their swords.
  993.
  994. Spells whizz through the air, passing very near Ysela's face as the rogue mages enter the fray.
  995.
  996. Seortiae quickly moves to protect the Lady Nithilar. Her golem begins pummeling mercenaries left and right while Seortiae quickly freezes the floor beneath the attacker's feet.
  997.
  998. Zigzagging towards the new threat, Ysela sends a strong gust of wind towards the group of mages, attempting to knock them off their feet.
  999.
1000. A shimmering barrier of crystal forms about Seortiae.
  1001.
1002. Most of the mercenaries near the front doors have scattered, and the guards turn to help the others.
  1003.
1004. Suddenly, a scream pierces the air and a distinguished butler crumples to the ground, holding his leg.
  1005.
1006. A distinguished butler exclaims, "My leg! Help!"
  1007.
1008. Three mercenaries converge upon the beleagured butler, drawing back their swords.
  1009.
1010. Coiling around the legs of a mercenary approaching Jivas, a death adder sends him sprawling to the ground. Stheno hisses something under the noise of the fray, and the adder sinks its venom-dripping fangs into another man.
  1011.
1012. Seortiae turns and embeds the creeps vibration. With deft manipulation of the elemental forces, she destabilizes the vibe sending waves of fear out towards the encroaching mercenaries.
  1013.
1014. The mercenary nearest to Seortiae and Jurixe slips and falls on his behind, grimacing and dropping his sword.
  1015.
1016. Chiam appears surprised for a brief moment at the exclaimation of help as he munches on one of the dismembered mercenary's leg.
  1017.
1018. Disoriented, the mercenaries' attention is drawn away from the helpless butler, who crawls to safety.
  1019.
1020. The mercenaries swarming in from the north are relentless, penetrating further into the keep.
  1021.
1022. Arrows begin to whiz through the air from the courtyard towards Stheno and Crixos.
  1023.
1024. Seortiae casts a spell over you, and a reflection of yourself appears next to you.
  1025.
1026. Crixos tramples over towards Stheno, lifting his wing and barely able to block a volley of wooden arrows fired towards them, his blood pooling by his claws.
  1027.
1028. Seortiae casts a spell over Stheno and a reflection of her appears next to her.
  1029.
1030. Jurixe says in a resonant voice, "We have to fight them back before they penetrate the other areas!"
  1031.
1032. The way clear in front of her, Jurixe urges Seortiae on as she hurries forward, whip and dirk in hand.
  1033.
1034. Jurixe says in a resonant voice, "We have to group together."
  1035.
1036. Seortiae says to Jurixe in Mhaldorian with a soft accent, "I am with you."
  1037.
1038. Stheno slips behind your greater form, priming an arrow against her own bow and taking aim through a chink in your battered wing.
  1039.
1040. Stheno nods her head emphatically.
  1041.
1042. Chiam backs off slowly and closes in to Jurixe.
  1043.
1044. Though battered and exhausted, more guards join the small knot beginning to form in the centre of the hall, desperately fighting off the incursion.
  1045.
1046. The mercenaries, though greater in number, act independently and are unorganised.
  1047.
1048. You say, "Form up around the lady Nithilar, we protect her with our lives!"
  1049.
1050. Jurixe says in a resonant voice, "Really, Crixos, I am quite-."
  1051.
1052. Frowning, Ysela summons walls of ice to partially block the entry from the north, channeling the attackers into a narrower approach.
  1053.
1054. Jurixe breaks off as she strikes out with her lash, whipping a mercenary off balance.
  1055.
1056. Seortiae reinforces the shielding on the Lady Nithilar. Her fierce gaze scanning for any sign of mercenary target, her fingers curled as she whispers new elemental incantations in preparation.
  1057.
1058. Jurixe says in a resonant voice, "-fine."
  1059.
1060. Just as the situation seems to be improving, a commotion is heard on the landing above.
  1061.
1062. The sound of fighting draws near, and before anyone can react, the familiar figure of
1063. Vaden appears on the top step.
  1064.
1065. The heavy clink of metal on stone announces the entrance of Vaden Bardcas.
  1066.
1067. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep says, "Thought you'd be rid of me, eh, did you?"
  1068.
1069. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep exclaims, "I just went to get reinforcements!"
  1070.
1071. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep snarls, "Now you'll pay for your greed."
  1072.
1073. Several elite-looking soldiers silently appear at the sides of Vaden at the top of the staircase, looking down sternly towards the crowd.
  1074.
1075. The elite soldiers move into an attacking position at the slight nudge of Vaden's head. The captain of the guard readies himself for battle.
  1076.
1077. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep snarls, "Kill them all!"
  1078.
1079. Seortiae narrows her eyes in hatred at the traitorous Captain. With a slow, wicked smile, she sends lightning at the metal clad figures, cackling as it flies from one to the next.
  1080.
1081. The guards circle and steel their feet, blade meeting blade as Vaden's elite mercenaries rush down the stairway towards the group.
  1082.
1083. Jurixe only has a moment to lift her head before several more mercenaries rush her from the side, and she is forced to back off deeper into the knot as guards move to close the gap.
  1084.
1085. Seortiae again freezes the ground at the base of the stairs.
  1086.
1087. Stheno curls her lips back over her teeth, baring them at Vaden and his elite guard. "You're in Silberkral, you thin-skinned sellsword. You'll deal in silver and blood."
  1088.
1089. Pressing her shoulder to your bloodied scales, Stheno fires off an arrow at Vaden.
  1090.
1091. Chiam catches an elite soldier in his jaws, flinging him around before throwing his bloody remains towards the back.
  1092.
1093. Dealing death around him with ease, Vaden begins to fight his way to the core group, hatred blazing in his gaze.
  1094.
1095. Seortiae closes her eyes as she sways slightly in exhaustion. Gritting her teeth, she begins to stormhammer the enemy soldiers, driving them back slowly, step by step.
  1096.
1097. For every mercenary that falls, there seem to be three more, and Vaden's appearance seems to have rejuvenated them.
  1098.
1099. Leaving a trail of blood behind him, Crixos is clearly injured. He yet manages to swing his tail, easily batting away some of Vaden's elite guard.
  1100.
1101. "Let's take these bastard nobles down!" yells one, and the others cheer in response.
  1102.
  1103. Chiam snarls viciously.
  1104.
1105. "Rally to me, men!" orders a Nithilar lieutenant, clearly exhausted, but resolute.
  1106.
1107. Seortiae looks about in desperation at the threat to her family and bows her head.
  1108.
1109. Face set with grim determination, Seortiae's eyes close as a silver light begins to shine forth, emanating from within her body.
1110. The light grows more intense, and with a gesture of utter submission to the Dragon within, Seortiae throws her arms wide and her head back as she screams,
  1111. "Aaashhaaaaaaxxeeeeiiiiii!"
1112. As a distant, triumphant roar is heard, the silver light coalesces about Seortiae. Her body begins to change, and deform. Her head flattens, as her neck lengthens. Her body grows dramatically as wings sprout from her back, and a massive tail quickly extrudes from what are now her hindquarters.
  1113.
1114. The exhausted Nithilar soldiers press on, fighting with desperate force, somehow managing to withstand the onslaught.
  1115.
1116. Jurixe exclaims in a resonant voice, "There is strength in fury, Nithilars!"
  1117.
1118. Jurixe exclaims in a resonant voice, "Take heart!"
  1119.
1120. Jurixe winces as she takes another arrow in the shoulder, but pushes the mercenary advancing forward off her and flings her dirk at him.
  1121.
1122. With a draconic huff, Seortiae turns and slaps her tail against a line of elite soldiers, knocking them off their feet. She quickly moves forward to trample them, while tearing limbs from their bodies with her great teeth.
  1123.
1124. The tiered skirts of her gown soaked through with blood, Stheno wipes it off her slippery fingers and readjusts them on her bow. An arrow snicks through the air, missing Jurixe's head to thud into a hired knight, in the soft spot between shoulder and armour.
  1125.
1126. Vaden laughs at the words, then growls as Seortiae's tail only barely misses him.
  1127.
1128. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep exclaims, "There is no strength like the gleam of gold in sacks, boys!"
  1129.
1130. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep exclaims, "This can all be yours!"
  1131.
1132. Seortiae glowers at Vaden then breathes a slow dragon curse of paralysis over him.
  1133.
1134. Ysela deftly spins a couple of crystals and embeds them into the hard floor, calling forth a harmonious vibration - slowly but surely beginning to seal the wounds of the Nithilar forces.
  1135.
1136. Vaden stumbles to his knees as he seizes up, but his elite guards cover him and soon he is back on his feet, if more enraged.
  1137.
1138. Looking more refreshed from the vibration, the Nithilar forces redouble their efforts.
  1139.
1140. The stained glass windows shatter and break as a few mercenary archers pepper arrows towards the group of defenders from the sides.
  1141.
1142. Signs of disorganisation are beginning to show as the mercenaries start to get flustered, unable to break the Nithilar spirit.
  1143.
1144. Jurixe ducks as another arrow very nearly misses her, tightening her fist in frustration.
  1145.
1146. Stheno hunches slightly and flares her body as she hisses warningly at Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep.
  1147.
1148. Stheno says to Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep in a steely voice, "Take your gold to the grave, Captain."
  1149.
1150. Seortiae roars in Fury, stunning all who are not allied. With a vicious snarl, she begins to breathstream and dragon curse those protecting Vaden, clearly determined to make her way through to him.
  1151.
1152. Murmuring soft words of enchantment, Jurixe conjures an illusion resembling double the numbers of the guards present, confusing the mercenaries nearest to her.
  1153.
1154. The arrows clatter upon shields, their trajectories slowed by the vibes.
  1155.
1156. Chiam coordinates a triple dragonbreath attack with you and Seortiae. The overwhelming draconic force plows through the main group of the soldiers leaving only a few scrambling.
  1157.
1158. As they flail about confusedly, Jurixe slits their throats neatly one by one.
  1159.
1160. The attacking force is noticeably weakened, their morale wavering as they look to their leader for reassurance.
  1161.
1162. Vaden Bardcas, guard-servant of Silberkral Keep exclaims, "No! I will not allow it!"
  1163.

1210. The remaining Nithilar guards, exhausted and battered, nonetheless give pursuit and manage to hack a few down.
  1211.
1212. Seortiae growls and stands over the Captain. She turns to Chiam and asks in sharp crackling tones, "Need another snack, Soulbound?"

1230. As Vaden Bardcas falls beneath Chiam's claws and the wracking force of Seortiae, the illusive sound of his disembodied voice fills the hall one final time. "My greed was my undoing. My disloyalty was my death." Stheno opens her eyes. She nods with satisfaction and tries to wipe the blood from her face, which just spreads it around.
  1231.

  1233.

  1247.
1248. [ending speeches thanking them for their help and departures]
  1249.
  1250. A vast stone hall.
1251. A scene of mass destruction stretches as far as the eye can see within this vast hall, built so high that the vaulted ceiling is lost among shadows of indigo and maroon. Glass, wood and stone lie strewn upon the stone floor in heaps of rubble and detritus, the remnants of formerly grand windows and furniture. Scorch marks intermingle with dark bloodstains and torn tapestries flutter forlornly in the breeze. The hall is open to the elements, with many of the heavy doors reduced to splinters and almost all the windows shattered from some ferocious attack. Even the magnificent silver throne is not spared; bloodstains mar its argent splendour, and one flanking panther statue is missing a head. Heavy wooden doors connect the hall to the other chambers of the keep, while a sweeping staircase near the back provides a means of ascent to the next level.
