  1. Driftwood
  2. - The Sculptor of Waves has chosen to patron the City of Light for many
  3. reasons, and it is important to Her that those of Her following take an active
  4. and involved role in the service of the city. Be an active member of one of the
  5. three guilds. Speak with others about your choice and how you might combine the
  6. Lady's teachings with the ways of your guild.
  7.
  8. "Ugh!", you say in disgust.
  9.
  10. Pulling scrolls about the three guilds of New Celest from her bag and unfurling them on the table, you say, "Fine. If I have to pick, I have to pick."

  22. Long ago, as cities rose and fell and the Soulless onslaught swept the world, the Sons of Dionamus
  23. sailed from civilization to civilization with a great relic, speaking of hope and offering succor to
  24. those most in need at great personal danger to themselves. That spirit of sacrifice has long been a
  25. legacy of merian culture, and has taken a new form in the Archons of Dawning Hope under the guidance
  26. of the Supernals.
  27.
  28. Many of the members of the Archons draw from the ranks of Celest's lower or middle classes, united
  29. by their fervor to succor the innocent, and give them justice and hope. A practical order, they work
  30. hard to make sure no one in need is forgotten, whether in small acts of service, or large public
  31. works projects.
  32.
  33. Reviewing the scroll about the Archons of Dawning Hope, you say, "Merian cultural inheritors, sacrifice, service. Isn't that -every- guild?"
  34.
  35. You scratch your head in confusion.

  46.
  47. Those of Celest have always sought to cleanse the world of corruption. The first mages channeled the
  48. powers of elemental water to cleanse the seas and heal the surrounding lands, and the discovery of
  49. Celestia only deepened this pursuit of healing and cleansing. One who championed the cause was Saint
  50. Loathys Inalai, known in her youth for the purity of her devotion and her love of philosophy. It was
  51. her passion for the Light that led her to answer Lord Methrenton's call to arms to halt the subtle
  52. corruption that threatened to tear the basin asunder during the Blood Wars.
  53.
  54. Once Saint Loathys led the the Champions of the Flame, now the order of the Sanctifiers of Saint
  55. Loathys follow in her footsteps. Each Sanctifier serves according to their calling as they seek out
  56. corruption in all forms at home and abroad, bringing healing and cleansing to places familiar and to
  57. forgotten corners of the world. Their passion for purity within and without mirrors their Saint's,
  58. and they hope someday to attain the same reward as she.
  59.
  60. Wiping drying salt from her brow as she leans over the scroll about the Sanctifiers of Saint Loathys, you say, "Oh, healing the seas, I like the sound of tha- oh, nevermind, they militarised. Now it's all blood and cleansing with the goal of martyrdom."
  61.
  62. Mlaan shudders with frustration, scattering sand from her gills.
  63.
  64. Turning to the last scroll with a look of resignation, you say, "Magisterium of the Holy Father..."
  65.
  66. 8.17.1.2 THE MAGISTERIUM OF THE HOLY FATHER
  67.
  68. [GUILD LEADERS]
  69. The Holy Prior: Yinuish
  70. The Exalted Celebrant: Qoivhae
  71. A Chaplain of Truth: Tadanine

  75.
  76. Centuries ago, two merians attained the plane of Celestia, where they beheld a
  77. vision of true peace, of true love, of true radiance. Saint Tresalyne of the
  78. Stars would soon sacrifice himself, allowing him to dwell on Celestia forever.
  79. Javile Farain became the first Holy Father, founding the Church and seeking to
  80. spread that vision through word and deed to those within Celest, and beyond.
  81.
  82. The Magisterium of the Holy Father is the order of those who would carry on
  83. Javile Farain's mission. Through preaching, education, displays of culture and
  84. of worship, and occasionally other, more zealous, means the magisters encourage
  85. those of the flock to deepen their personal relationship with the Light, and
  86.
  87. Eyes dimming with disinterest as she looks over the scroll, you say, "Merians cultural inheritors, sacrifice, service."
  88.
  89. Leaning back in her chair, you exclaim, "Why would anybody join any of these places? They're all duller than turtle dung!"

  97. 1 from and 1 from Archons are on visible planes.
  98. 2 Aquamancers present, of those 1 is a demigod/ascendant.
  99. Currently, there are 2 Citizens on visible Planes and 2 on other Planes.
  100.
  101. You have emoted: Mlaan sweeps the three scrolls into her bag without bothering to roll them up, and then leans her elbows upon the desk and her chin upon her hands.
  102.
  103. A warm, salty breeze washes in from the nearby Inner Sea.
  104.
  105. A sense of longing fills the air, accentuated by the lapping of the ocean waves upon the distant walls of the city.
  106.
  107. Muffled laughter echoes from somewhere outside.
  108.
  109. Still weighing up the best of three bad options, you say, "The Archons sound the easiest and the dullest, but they also sound like a little fanatical about promising to sacrifice."
  110.
  111. Skepticism warring with hope, you say, "The Sanctifiers sound like I could do the most good for the waters, but they also sound the most insane of the lot, dedicated to violence, bloodshed and marytrdom..."
  112.
  113. Defeat impinging on her normal enthusiasm, you say, "The Magisterium sound the most normal, but I don't get the sense they really do anything worthwhile. There's no end of preachers and 'educators' about the Light, what do they bring to the table that every alleycat and his kinsman doesn't already know?"
  114.
  115. Tilting her hand one way then the other, you say, "Do I try and survive with the crazies, join the number one merian club, or just put my name down with the dullest of the dull, the clergy?"
  116.
  117. In a resigned tone as she pushes herself away from the desk, you say, "It should be easy to leave my name on the prayer roll and sneak off to the harbour. -And- I won't have to risk being thrown into a suicidal fight by the crazies."
  118.
  119. Mlaan gathers the last of her things, and a smile overtakes her face as her mind wanders once again to the sea. "I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for a Chaplain. I wonder if I can find one at the beach?"
