  1. You may remember our InternetNZ campaign from last year. Well, once again, we are asking you to take a small action to protect a large part of the internet from race-based nonsense.
  2.
  3. The team at Free Speech Union have alerted us to this issue cropping up again, so we agreed to share this with you.
  4.
  5. In case you don't recall, InternetNZ manages the entire .nz domain. Right now, it is being steered away from its technical purpose and towards a highly political agenda.
  6.
  7. In 2022, it declared itself as "institutionally racist" after an internal review.
  8.
  9. It could also be argued that its rewritten constitution is itself divisive and racist.
  10.
  11. The new constitution centres the Treaty of Waitangi over neutral governance, requires one-third Māori board membership and a non-negotiable Māori co-chair.
  12.
  13. It's also positioning itself to take a more active role in online content decisions and policing - with significant free speech ramifications.
  14.
  15. Last year, the Free Speech Union achieved a massive win by getting Jonathan Ayling elected to the InternetNZ board. This year, we have the chance to finish the job - but only if you act by this Sunday, 10 May.
  16.
  17. The Strategy:
  18.
  19. Two board seats are up for election this year. These are winnable, but only if we have enough principled members ready to vote. To be eligible, you must be a member for at least three months before the AGM.
  20.
  21. Your 2-Minute Action Plan:
  22.
  23. Join InternetNZ: Sign up as a paid member ($21/year) at internetnz.nz/membership.
  24.
  25. Tell us you’re in: Once you’ve joined, [fill out our form here] so we can send you suggested voting instructions when the election opens.
  26.
  27. Important: We need you to do both. If you join but don't tell us, we can’t coordinate the vote, and the effort will be wasted.
  28.
  29. The Deadline: Sunday, 10 May 2026 (that's this Sunday, three months before the AGM)
  30.
  31. We cannot afford to let the .nz domain be governed by ideology instead of equality.
