  1. [20:48] Revan Task says, "Speaking of training, Thalis, your spar was quite exceptional. "
  2. [20:48] Thalis Avitus says, "Thank y' kindly."
  3. [20:48] Revan Task says, "I can see clearly why father has taken an interest in you. "
  4. [20:48] Thalis Avitus says, "Took many years t' jus' get 'nother blessin' from Asena, mighty 'appy with it."
  5. [20:49] Revan Task says, "Is that how you were able to move so fast? I admittedly had a difficult time following your movements."
  6. [20:49] Thalis Avitus says, "Pretty much, aye. I got as close t' m' element as I could... Namely lightnin' magic."
  7. [20:49] Thalis Avitus says, "Instead o' bein' someone tha' draws bolts o' lightnin' from th' sky I became th' bolt."
  8. [20:50] Approaches the two and waved..
  9. (Rikka)
  10. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  11.
  12. [20:50] Revan Task says, "Fascinating... One moment "
  13. [20:50] Revan Task says, "Hades "
  14. [20:50] Hades Task says, "Thas' me."
  15. [20:50] Revan Task says, "Father has requested that we start contributing funds for a new family anvil."
  16. [20:50] Hades Task says, "Ah, yeah. Sure. But."
  17. [20:50] Revan Task says, "No buts. "
  18. [20:50] Hades Task says, "We'll need a shop to sell things for that."
  19. [20:51] Revan Task says, "... One but. "
  20. [20:53] Revan Task asks, "Apologies, Thalis.. Anyway.. do you imagine one could do something similiar with energy?"
  21. [20:54] Thalis Avitus says, "Nah, yer fine...- As fer doin' it with energy magic? Maybe, but I figure it'll take a 'ole load o' trainin' with it."
  22. [20:54] Thalis Avitus says, "Energy magic works on th' 'ole perfection o' one's body, right? Fuelin' it with mana?.. Bound t' be some way t' do it."
  23. [20:55] Revan Task says, "Yes... I imagine I'll face much more difficulties not having a patron to bless me as well... "
  24. [20:55] Dun Task says, "Yes."
  25. [20:55] Dun Task says, "It works....mostly through physical and spiritual trauma."
  26. [20:55] Thalis Avitus says, "Absolutely, but tha's 'alf th' fun."
  27. [20:55] Dun Task says, "But."
  28. [20:55] Dun Task says, "The main point."
  29. [20:55] Dun Task says, "Is to develop one's resolve, their willpower."
  30. [20:55] Dun Task says, "That is the source of energy magic's strength."
  31. [20:56] Thalis Avitus says, "... Yea', I think if y' put yer mind t' it 'nuff y'd get there per'aps."
  32. [20:57] Revan pulls out an ink well and pen, and begins fervently writing notes on the bandages wrapped around his arm. Having both Thalis and his father giving him advice on not only energy magic and the ability to go faster than the eye could percieve, both were a fountain of information.
  33. (Revan Task)
  34. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  35.
  36. [20:58] Revan Task says, "That makes sense.. A sword can not be sharpened on a smooth stone.. It must be course.. The body does not grow unless it is pushed. "
  37. [20:58] Revan Task says, "Thank you, Father, Thalis, I will do everything I can to break my body, and my spirit."
  38. [20:59] Thalis Avitus says, "'course, 'appy t' 'elp other pugilists in their chase t' power. S'nice seein' others take up th' style o' fightin'."
  39. [21:01] Revan Task says, "Your guidance is greatly appreciated. "
  40. [21:06] Thalis Avitus says, "Still need t' 'one th' art m'self, sadly. Next comes imbuin' m' blessin's int' m' fists."
  41. [21:06] Revan Task asks, "What would you hope to accomplish from that, specifically?"
  42. [21:06] Thalis Avitus says, "Mh... Either gettin' stron'er punches 'n kicks o' per'aps 'onin' m' claws."
  43. [21:07] Thalis Avitus says, "By coatin' m' fists in wind o' electricity I'd technically punch 'arder if not stun m' opponents."
  44. [21:07] Thalis Avitus says, "Then comes th' 'ole claw shit... Could make 'em bleed-- I'unno."
  45. [21:07] Dun Task says, "I usually hardened my fists with condensed mana to target circuitry."
  46. [21:07] Dun Task says, "It works for disrupting attacks in the moment to steal momentum."
  47. [21:07] Dun Task says, "Integral in close quarters combat."
  48. [21:07] Thalis Avitus says, "- Yea'? Huh... Wonder if I could yank th' air outta someone when they're castin'."
  49. [21:08] Revan Task asks, "That sounds quiet effective- both of you, father, do you think I could be capable of such things too?"
  50. [21:08] Revan Task says, "What a silly question."
  51. [21:08] Revan Task says, "Of course I can, I'm your son. "
  52. [21:08] Thalis snickers.
  53. (Thalis Avitus)
  54. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  55.
  56. [21:10] Revan Task says, "I believe I've sat around this square enough.. I'll go gather some more crystals and wood, father, and continue my training. "
  57. [21:10] Revan Task says, "This has been quite a motivating discussion. "
  58. [21:10] Thalis Avitus says, "Glad it 'as been, wish y' luck in yer gatherin'."
  59. [21:11] Revan Task says, "Thank you, Thalis, do you think we could possibly train later? Whenever you have time, of course"
  60. [21:12] Thalis Avitus says, "Yea', figure I can 'elp y' out. Not much goin' fer m' right now any'o."
  61. [21:12] Revan Task says, "Then I will prioritize your tutelege over my private training. "
  62. [21:12] Revan Task says, "Your time is much more valuable to me. "
  63. [21:12] Thalis Avitus says, "Course, course... Right- We'll go find a spot real quick."
  64. [21:23] Strolling past the factory and down the mountain of Theria he'd find what he considered a decent spot. Rocky, craggy, and by the Gods desolate. Hazel hues scan their surroundings as a hum is held in his throat before a sharp nod to himself confirms it.
  65.
  66. This was decent enough.
  67.
  68. "Right, so... Given e'erythin' y' may know I wanna see wha' y' got. If y' got th' talent then this shit should be easy. Fer now though? Fuel yer body with some energy magic, then--"
  69.
  70. Jabbing his pointer finger towards the slab of rock beside him he'd continue, "Break tha' shit in 'alf. Let it be a kick o' punch, as far as I'm concerned once y' got yer body in check yer mana's goin' t' follow."
  71.
  72. That was, at least, what he believed. Thalis was no energy magi but as the years passed by he found himself hardier; Both in terms of magic and body. Crossing his arms against his chest he'd knit his brow.
  73.
  74. "While yer breakin' it tell m' wha' y' know. 'ow deep int' pugilism are y'?- Th' kicks, punches, proper form... All th' good shit. Ain't sure wha' yer father taught y'."
  75. (Thalis Avitus)
  76. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  77.
  78. [21:40] The dark haired Task was quite excited after taking with his Father and Thalis, he had received a few excellent tips on how to harness the mana within his body use it to make his body that much more efficient.
  79.
  80. Following behind the ookami eagerly, Revan would take note of the area, but soon his entire focus would be on Thalis. Upon being requested to split the rock, Revan would nod, though doubt plagued his mind.
  81.
  82. "Yes sir, I will do my best."
  83.
  84. Fuel his body with energy magic It was easier said than done, he had been trying for what felt like ages now, though he hadn't seen the azure haze that both of his brothers exhibited.
  85.
  86. He would stand infront of the boulder, taking a wide basic stance as he closed his eyes. Through his nose, he would inhale deeply, and exhale through his mouth. Steadying his heart and mind as he focused solely on his muscles, and what he imagined where is magical circuitry.
  87.
  88. He would raisea flattened hand above his head, and would quickly bring it down on the boulder, imagining the speed and ferocity that his present mentor exhibited.
  89.
  90. CRACK.
  91.
  92. A sharp pain would shoot up the teen's arm as his golden hues went wide. THAT WASN'T THE ROCK. Revan would grit his teeth, screaming internally as he once again did his breathing exercises, much faster and panicked. "I-I-I... Of my brothers, I followed my father's example as closely as I could.." His eyes would grow watery. Don't you dare cry. But his thoughts couldn't help but wander to his brothers, Hades was always gifted with magic, and even Valero was able to channel his mana into a bright aura, even having touched into something darker.
  93.
  94. "Mr. Avitus.. I haven't been able to unlock my magic yet." He'd confess, his monotone voice wavering as the bandages under his eyes grew damp. "... And I think I broke my hand."
  95. (Revan Task)
  96. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  97.
  98. [21:49] CRACK!
  99.
  100. … There's a visible pause in the Ookami's frame as he locks up. Hazel hues stare down upon the hand that had slammed into the ground-- Narrowly missing the rock. Lips press briefly into a thin, tight line as he just stands there for a time. Lost for words.
  101.
  102. Well shit!
  103.
  104. Stepping forth he'd take the teen's side, motioning for the hand. "Lemme see..." Thalis spoke calmly, trying to keep the façade that he wasn't panicking as well! Really, he didn't expect them to BREAK THEIR HAND, BUT SHIT! HERE WE ARE!
  105.
  106. Should he carefully show the man his hand he'd go to test it at first. A cruel thing, honestly, but he was no medic sadly. Pressing lightly into the palm of the Task's hand he'd quirk a brow, gaze shifting towards Revan's expression.
  107.
  108. "Right-- Where's it 'urtin' exactly? Knuckles, fingers, wha'? Lessee if I can't fuckin'... Figure this shit out." Thalis mumbled, nose crunching up as his head slowly shook.
  109.
  110. "Otherwise... Y' need t' get used t' feelin' these kinds o' injuries. This'd be a good start fer gettin' used t' tha' kind o' strain-- Yer goin' t' be punchin' metal someday, after all."
  111. (Thalis Avitus)
  112. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  113.
  114. [22:04] When asked for his hand, he would extend it out, a few sniffles coming from the normally ever-so-prideful lad. He wasn't sure what to expect, Mr. Avitus was an adult and he had full faith he knew how to handle this situation. Though as he'd press into his hand, he would find the knuckle just below his pinky would hurt A LOT.
  115.
  116. Revan would quickly retract the hand, "AAAAAYE... Think I'm going to try again with my left, yes. It is my better side anyway." What would start as a scream would immediately turn into a bluff. Physical and spiritual trauma. It's just like Father said. I have to push through this to get stronger.
  117.
  118. Revan would tighten the bandage around his broken right hand, wincing slightly in pain, he would push through it as he had to during his father's training.
  119.
  120. "Father said I had to develop my will power, and resolve, yes?" He would ask Thalis, though his eyes were on his left arm where his notes were. "... What does that mean to you, Mr. Avitus?" He would ask, before taking his stance again, holding the broken hand close to his chest.
  121.
  122. "Is it.. Stubbornness? Refusing to be defeated by a rock? or.. Is there something I'm missing? I've.. Always thought I had honed my body enough.. But.. Of my brothers and I.. I always came out of our training with the most bruises, the most cuts.. It's why I wear these bandages.. They always appear, but I never wanted to let the world see them.. It made me feel.. Weak.. Inferior.. Is it this body that is holding me back, or something else?" Golden hues would look to Hazel for answers.
  123. (Revan Task)
  124. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  125.
  126. [22:15] Clenching his jaw he'd let out a sigh as the hand's quickly retracted. A bluff - One that still concerned him when it came to the health of a student. Then again this was his first real student beyond his young daughter... Drawing in a breath through his nose he'd let out a sigh, allowing the Task to nurse the injury.
  127.
  128. "As y' do then. After this get some snow o' ice 'n put yer 'and in it... Let th' injury numb itself a bit 'fore y' get t' treatin' it." Poor medical advice, honestly, but it's what helped him in his younger days. Months had flown by as he practiced against those that tried to rob him.
  129.
  130. Yet it's upon the question of developing one's willpower that he'd pause. It's something he never truly questioned himself-- Within Sudbury it was a matter of sleeping or running. There was no true in between for one's survival there.
  131.
  132. "T' m' I'd place it as... A mix o' stubbornness 'n determination. It ain't jus' 'bout th' rock, no, it's beyond tha' t'." Hazel hues peel from the golden pools that stared back, moving towards his own rock.
  133.
  134. "As stupid as it is this rock 'fore y' is nothin' more than a steppin' stool. 'cause if y' can't break a rock then 'ow th' 'el are y' goin' t' do real damage t' someone aimin' fer yer life?.. As fer th' injuries they're a mark o' pride. Fer some it may seem like y' lost a fight but remember-- No one e'er comes outta scrap unscathed."
  135.
  136. With that said his hand balls into a fist, crashing down violently through the rock before him. It splinters into multiple, tiny fragments before he lifts it back up... A tinge of black and blue barely upon his knuckles. "It also means y' stood fer somethin'. A belief. A cause. Y' fought fer it 'n believe tha' fightin' fer it is worth th' pain. Tha' ain't weakness, kid.
  137.
  138. Tha's passion."
  139. (Thalis Avitus)
  140. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  141.
  142. [22:40] A nod would follow as he was given the instructions for treating his hand. He always took care of his own injuries, and in their youth, even his brothers. Though throwing snow on bruises and wrapping bandages around cuts did not make him a doctor.
  143.
  144. Was that what he was missing? A true threat? While his father's training was rigorous, and tested every aspect of him, there was never the fear of death present.
  145.
  146. He would try to find the closest thing he could equate the feeling to, and it was his recent defeat at Valero's Sword, and sinister magic. His thought jumping to his brothers discussing how they met the man who murdered their uncle, and learning from such a man.
  147.
  148. They were up to things, things that could get them in trouble, while he had begun to plateau, to stagnate, the very thing his father instilled in them to despise. If he wanted to keep them safe, if he wanted to bring more glory to the task name, he would have to let go of his shame.
  149.
  150. "I think I get it now." Slowly he was finding the fire his father spoke of, something to focus on, something to stoke. Again he would raise his left hand over his head. Before him wasn't simply a rock, no, in his mind, it was Valero up to some dumb fuck shit, and he was going to put them in his place, for the family's sake.
  151. (Revan Task)
  152. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  153.
  154. [22:40] * You have been awarded 5 Roleplay Points! *
  155. [22:47] Thalis merely flashed a wide smile at that. If passion was a driving force for the Task then so be it - There was bound to be something that could get him rolling along the rails. Crossing his arms against his chest he'd watch closely as Revan's hand is raised--
  156.
  157. "Keep yer on th' target." Thalis mumbled, an idle reminder that would hopefully aid him in striking the rock instead of... Well, the wall or ground. Having two broken hands would absolutely bring up an issue in their training. Yet even then they had feet, did they not?
  158.
  159. Idly shifting on the sidelines he'd find himself looking a bit more within. Things were absolutely turning on their head for him - From his emotional state more so. Thoughts of pillaging the place he once called home felt... Wrong in a sense, but also right in the other.
  160.
  161. It was survival of the fittest, after all, and his passion remained with Asena's true calling.
  162.
  163. Emotions held no place among her pack as opposed to Saekanis's. His jaw clenched tightly at that thought; Perhaps that was why he was feeling so different. This may truly be the endgame for an Asenite - Detachment to an extent.
  164.
  165. What an odd feeling.
  166. (Thalis Avitus)
  167. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  168.
  169. [22:57] Following his mentor's advice, he would keep a keen eye on the rock, mana surging through his body like he had never felt before. His muscles swelled, veins pushed to the surface of his skin as he felt like he was made of iron for just a moment.
  170.
  171. The hand would come down, not particularly fast, but the power was certainly there. Just as Thalis had displayed, the rock would shatter with pieces of it and dust flying everywhere.
  172.
  173. There was a moment of disbelief, but before the debris could settle, Revan would find himself leaping into the air, bringing the heel of his foot down on another rock and exploding it all the same.
  174.
  175. For the first time in his life, he would find himself laughing. "Look Mr. Avitus! I'm doing it!" There was no aura yet, though he had certainly unlocked his mana to strengthen his blows. Getting perhaps a little too carried away, he would find himself punching with his right hand, breaking more stone, and sending more pain up his arm.
  176.
  177. "OW, OW- … 'Ow would you go about finding a medic?... For training, of course. I've.. Always been fascinated by the body, and I would really like to learn how to patch up and fix bodies."
  178. (Revan Task)
  179. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  180.
  181. [23:08] As the rock shatters he'd hold a wide grin. The brief flicker of pride forms in his chest - Something he's all too used to, sadly, and an emotion he particularly favored. Next came the other rock that exploded as their foot slams on down through the piece of earth beside it!
  182.
  183. Thalis cackled lightly to himself as the teen goes on a spree of destruction-- Even if the lad did hit his injury it was a good lesson. They'd tapped into their potential and, in turn, smashed their way to victory. Keeping that wide grin on his mug he'd nod sagely, arms tightening about his chest.
  184.
  185. "Atta boy! Now y' jus' gotta keep tha' bit o' th' lesson close t' y'. Whene'er y' find yerself in a brawl tap int' tha' feelin' and push ferward with it." Thalis hummed, pressing his lips back into that neutral state they typically held.
  186.
  187. "As fer medics 'n trainin'? M' wife could aid y', but she's goin' t' be restin' fer th' next few months... So might be best t' ask 'round th' square if y' got plans on rushin' it."
  188.
  189. Now that he thought about it he was providing the Task family a fair amount of training... Perhaps this was the start of something grand after all. A faint smile curls on his lips as his arms fall back to his sides. "Beyond tha' I ain't sure where th' 'ospital is up 'ere anyway... Nursin' yer bruises is a decent way t' start on th' trainin', though."
  190. (Thalis Avitus)
  191. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  192.
  193. [23:20] With every injury, I'll grow stronger, and I'll do so for my family.. And those that help us. Where his only concern was his Brothers and Father, it now extended to Thalis, and any other individual he would soon find to be worthy. To protect, and grow together.
  194.
  195. "Mr. Avitus, this is a lesson I don't believe I will ever be able to forget.. I owe you my.. Deepest gratitude." He would say sincerely before stepping out of the rubble of the slain stones.
  196.
  197. "Your wife is a medic? You must be quite thankful for her after a 'scrap'." Revan would find himself adopting some of his mentor's lingo as he loosened up every so marginally.
  198.
  199. "And I think I will begin investigating to find a teacher for that.. My brothers are leaving Theria much more frequently, and I know Valero is getting into fights. I want to make sure nothing happens to them, or atleast.. Nothing I can't fix." He'd affirm, being a medic was more about repairing than preventing.. But perhaps there was a way for him to turn that around?
  200.
  201. "So, what is the next lesson?" He would eagerly ask his teacher, ignoring the draining feeling of using his mana for the first time, and his injured right hand.
  202. (Revan Task)
  203. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  204.
  205. [23:28] Thalis could only lightly shake his head at the sincerity. "It's wha' I should do fer th' youn' 'round 'ere. A pack is only as stron' as its next generation-- By 'elpin' y' I'm 'elpin' th' future." An odd feeling once more - To humor the idea that he'd pass on sooner as opposed to later.
  206.
  207. Esshar was always a bloody place after all, and it'd taken its wear and tear upon the man.
  208.
  209. "'n aye, I'm more than thankful fer 'er. Can't tell y' th' amount o' injuries I waddled on up t' 'er with." Thalis snickered, lifting his left arm to demonstrate. "Yanked th' core outta a golem 'n fried th' 'ole damn thin'. She was pissed." Another cackle escapes him-- A strange fellow, but he took pride in his achievements.
  210.
  211. Knitting his brow as the topic of the next lesson is placed before him he'd hum. "'onestly from 'ere... I think yer next step is learnin' 'ow th' fuck t' tap int' yer mana. Whether tha's with yer father o' yer brothers is up t' yerself-- When y' get tha' shroud down I think we can push int' really puttin' some damage out..."
  212.
  213. Thalis soon trailed off, his nose scrunching up once more as he tried to scrounge up some form of next lesson. "Let's go rest fer a time-- Get yer knuckles under ice o' somethin'. I should prolly check in on m' kids anyway...- So let's conclude fer t'night."
  214. (Thalis Avitus)
  215. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  216.
  217. [23:38] Revan would listen intently to every word from the Ex-Sudburrian, he never thought he'd find another man that could capture his interest like his father. Though, given who his father was, that was a tall order, however, this Ookami was teaching him so much more than simple pugilism.
  218.
  219. "Ah yes, I understand fully. You will have to tell me more stories of your accomplishments at a later date. But- I don't want to keep you from your wife and children any longer." And with that, he would follow his Mentor back to town.
  220. (Revan Task)
  221. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  222.
  223. [23:41] "Tell? Please, I can show y' easily with m' gauntlets 'n tattoos. 'ad t' brawl some Gehennan fuckin' deity fer fuck's sake. Tha'... Tha' was interestin'." Thalis chuckled lightly, slowly shaking his head as he recalled it all.
  224.
  225. Shame that the Gehennan had left Esshar's face, however... At least they were safe elsewhere with their Teraphim. Holding a light hum he'd begin the trek back. "But-- Aye, I'll introduce y' t' 'er in due time. 'ave a good night Revan, yea'?"
  226. (Thalis Avitus)
