- ***Instructions***
- 1. Download the modpack.zip file
- 2. Extract it to a folder
- 3. Open the bin folder and Run modpack.jar to install Forge
- 4. Open the Minecraft launcher
- 5. Choose "New Profile" in the bottom left
- 6. Name the profile and choose a directory. I usually do something like this:
- "C:\Users\Ian\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\versions\1.7.10\1.7.10 Modded"
- 7. Under the "Use Version" section choose "release 1.7.10-Forge10.13.0.1207"
- 8. Under JVM Arguments, raise the max RAM to 2 Gb (-Xmx2048M) and add the following if you are using Java7:
- -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
- 9. Save profile
- 10. Launch Minecraft once with the new profile selected.
- 11. Close Minecraft
- 12. Back at the launcher, click "Edit Profile" under the new profile
- 13. Click "Open Game Dir"
- 14. Drag the "config" folder, "journeyMap" folder, "mods" folder, "servers.dat" file, and "options.txt" file that were extracted earlier to this folder.
- 15. Run Minecraft (It will take longer to initially start up than Vanilla)
- ***Tips***
- 1. When in your inventory, Press "O" to show/hide the item menu and search bar
- 2. When in your inventory, you can search for any item using the search bar at the bottom.
- 3. Pressing "R" on an item on the right hand side of the inventroy screen will show the recipe.
- - The arrows at the top will show it's recipe in different machines or crafting tables
- - The arrows at the bottom will go to the next page if there are multiple pages of recipes
- 4. Pressing "Shift+R" or "U" will show what the item is used in.
- 5. If you see items cycling in the recipe, that means that items are equivelent and any will work
- for the recipe
- 6. NEI Subsets at the top let you show items from specific mods. Click the button at the top and scoll down to
- "Mods". While hovered over a specific mod, Shift+Left click to seatch for items in that mod.
- 7. Right click the search bar to clear it.
- 8. You will spawn with a book called "Materials and You: Volume I". This will tell you how to use the mods
- Tinkers' Contruct, which is used to created customizable tools. This a good early game mod as it allows for
- and early game for of ore doubling with the smeltery
- 9. Placing the book in a crafting grid by itself to get Volume II, which will show the different types of
- materials and their properties.
- 10. Placing Volume II in a crafting grid by itself will give you a book that shows you how to make the
- smeltery, which will melt down ores and give you two ingots worth of metal. This is needed to cast metal tools.
- 11. The Hang Glider from OpenBlocks and the Traveller's Boots from Tinkers' Construct are good for getting
- around quickly, and only require basic materials.
- 12. Craft an Iron Capped Wooden Wand and right-click a Bookcase to the a tutorial/research book from the magic
- mod Thaumcraft.
