  1. So, you know, there's a flower monastery. It's out in the country, which, in this case, probably means out towards the outer edges of the realm -- you know, they grow orchards and fruits and vegetables, the Lord's guard gets involved if there are any extreme insect breakouts. (The insects get kinda big around here.) And, like, Sorcha's from the monastery, but she's a Morg monk, so she goes for aimless walks all the time and sometimes she leaves for days or weeks.
  2.
  3. So, you know, she's out one of those days, hanging around apple town -- you know, the little village which has clustered around the apple orchards? -- and this little cryptid kid coems running in screaming about how there's hornets in their homestead. And Sorcha looks around for the Lord's guard, because, you know, that's how things work around there, but there's no one around because the orchards are pretty far out and so it's entirely possible to distract all the members of the guard with other problems. (Or perhaps there just weren't any there. Who knows!)
  4.
  5. So, you know, Sorcha looks at this crying little kid (or maybe she wasn't crying -- fish scales on the face, who decided /that/ was a good look?), and she shrugs, and she goes, 'hey, lemme see what's goin' on.' And off she goes, and, you know, hornets are pretty awful, but she's been at the monastery for a while, she doesn't need to be armed to dispatch them. And the homestead's quite grateful, and so's the apple town, and Sorcha earns herself a few friends.
  6.
  7. And then, you know, another day not too far removed, she's hanging around in orange town, and someone has a fire ant problem, and she can't find the guard then either, so she takes care of it.
  8.
  9. When she's hanging around pear town, it takes a month or so for fate to catch up, because the guards are quite on top of pear town, but eventually there are too many problems and Sorcha goes to guard a carpenter as he repairs his house.
  10.
  11. And somewhere along there, Sorcha just doing what she feels like doing, the crowd decides she's Helpful. And, you know, she defers to the guard, because that's how things /are/, and one does not offend a Mystic Lord, but the title sticks. People recognise her as A Helper.
  12.
  13. And, you know, Sorcha shrugs and takes it on, because it doesn't really bother her, and wasp stew is pretty good, to be honest, you should really try it. Somewhere between punching a hornet and today, it's a cosmic fate which has stuck to her. So, you know, these days she doesn't visit the monastery too much, because she can generally find something to do in the orchard district.
