  167. WHAT IF SCENARIOS
  168. Below is a list of potential issues dog owners face. Please do not be overwhelmed or intimidated. There is no
  169. wrong or right answer. We are trying to get a feel for you as a potential BTN family and also present you with
  170. possible scenarios. The first four BOLD questions must be answered. Feel free to answer all, if you desire. The
  171. more info we have the better we can match you up with the right dog. Answers to the first four questions are
  172. required: any other answers are totally optional but are absolutely welcomed. Please describe how you would
  173. handle the following situations:
  174. 1. The dog you adopted develops an obsessive chewing habit. It’s gone beyond what one might deem
  175. normal. The dog eats everything: your $2000 couch, the marble coffee table, the dining room chairs,
  176. your window sills, blankets? How would you handle?
  177.
  178. 2. The adopted dog is an adult and is not fully potty trained. How do you train this dog?
  179.
  180. 3. Sadly, after some time of owning your pet, you become aware of a medical issue. Your vet diagnosed
  181. the adopted dog with a condition requiring a costly medication that must be given 3x a day. What do
  182. you do?
  183.
  184. 4. The adopted dog has been playing all day and has gone to lay down to rest. Your child approaches the
  185. dog and the dog gives a warning growl. After removing your child from the situation. what do you do
  186. initially, and what is your long term plan?
  187.

  190.
  191. 5. The adopted dog begins to bark incessantly. It is annoying. How do you train this dog?
  192.
  193. 6. The adopted dog begins jumping your fence. How do you train this dog?
  194.
  195. Rescue dogs come from a variety of backgrounds. A lot of the times we don't know those backgrounds but we
  196. typically can determine the dogs personality through fostering in our homes. Being adopted is a stressful
  197. adventure for a dog. New home, new people, new dogs. Dogs can become overtired and exhibit unfavorable
  198. behavior.
  199. 7. You are playing with the adopted dog. You go to retrieve the ball from his/her mouth. The dog shifts
  200. his/her head down and eyeballs you, making you feel uncomfortable. How do you respond initially, and
  201. what’s your long term plan?
  202.
  203. 8. Your dog thinks your pet guinea pig looks like a south American delicacy... what do you do?
  204.

  211. do you take?
  212.
  213. 11. The adopted dog begins to show aggression toward strangers. How do you train this dog?
