  4. RACIAL HISTORY
  5. Raijin allegedly reigned for aeons as one of two deities of the skies. Where Fujin his brother ruled over the winds, Raijin governed thunder, lightning and the storm. The two siblings constantly engage in friendly battles to determine who is stronger, the results of these bouts are perceived as devastating hurricanes and tempests to the mortals that reside in the realm beneath them.

  7. During one of these bouts Raijin’s accomplice and helper Raiju was injured and cast to the mortal realm. The Thunder Wolf took humanoid form to disguise itself, and although its injuries restricted most of its power; was still revered to as a god amongst men. Thus it became known as the first mortal Raiju.

  11. Raiju’s position in the heavens was second only to Raijin, but in the mortal realm he saw an opportunity to rule in totality. He was worshipped as the god of Thunder himself, but Raijin was simply amused by this development; focusing instead on his rivalry with his brother Fujin. Raiju began breeding with corporeal females resulting in spawn that possessed some of his abilities, essentially fathering a race of celestial, albeit mortal Raiju.

  13. Raijin’s thunderous rage was invoked upon realising this development, swiftly punishing Raiju and summoning him back to the heavens where he belonged. He mercifully spared the remaining Raiju in the mortal realm, but realising their power was too great for those on Earth to contend with banished them to a faraway part of the cosmos...

  15. Generations of interbreeding have greatly weakened the devastating dynamism that the Raiju clan used to possess. Their divinity has been greatly diluted, but their physiology still has several stark contrasts to other mortal organisms. Even though their cells partially respire like other physical organisms, a massive distinction is their requirement for direct absorption of spiritual energy. Instead of blood in the conventional sense, they store their ki as a highly conducting physical liquid substance that is pumped by their heart throughout their bodies called ‘Denchi’.

This grants them the ability to directly absorb ki from their environment, but millennia of evolution have caused their bodies to adapt to more effectively store energy; discharging it internally instead of externally. As a result, their ability to augment their physical abilities using their electrically charged ki is second to none; but unfortunately they have great difficulty emanating it for long distances. They also respire at a far more rapid rate than other races, and nervous impulses are carried throughout their bodies far faster. This results in heightened speed and reflexes. They are however susceptible to water, as the high conductance of Denchi causes it to discharge electricity out of their bodies and into their environment. Denchi also enables them to repair their bodies almost miraculously from injury by energising their cells.

  19. Raiju are a secluded race, holding their divine origin in high esteem. They tend to haughtily look down at other races, viewing themselves as superior as a result of their heavenly foundation. Another conviction that pervades their society is that, due to being the direct consequence of Raiju’s disobedience; they are scorned by the God of Thunder Raijin. As a result they endeavour to bring honour to Raijin through victory in combat; the honourable death of a Raiju results in them being released into a heavenly paradise where they ascend to true godhood... Free of mortal shackles. Although they still view life as sacred, this mentality makes it easier for some Raiju to kill; most occupying the roles of warriors or assassins.

Raiju’s emotions have a considerable impact on their power output, so much that when angered or distraught they begin to visibly emanate electricity; the concentrations of which are dependent on the severity of the emotion. They are usually stoic and emotionless in an attempt to master this, or quirky and overemotional; rarely inbetween.

  23. Very rarely a Raiju is born with greater strength than its peers, believed to have been blessed by Raijin. Their power is almost always accompanied by an egomaniacal persona, and the desire to dominate or exert their will on the individuals around them; as Raijin does as the God of Thunder.

  90. Hair typically stands on end, grows longer with each transformation and their eyes glow. Custom hairs allowed, general rule is there is a colour change that lightens their hair and it becomes luminescent.

Transformation occurs when a Raiju experiences powerful emotions, the latent divinity locked within their genome is expressed and they possess colossal gains in power without compromising their ability to gather or regain energy like most races. It essentially just unlocks their godly potential. Their personality often changes until they get used to the transformations power.

  189. Siphon: (Active) Drains energy by 5% per second. 75% of damage taken by ki attacks is converted into energy. Grabbing an opponent (or being grabbed) while this is active drains them of 5% energy per tick and reimburses your own energy. (Flavour text: You focus your efforts to siphon energy. You stop attempting to siphon energy)

  191. Thunderous Rage: (Passive) Upon Anger, 15% energy is awarded and fatigue is reduced to 0.

  193. Regenerate: (Active). In the game already. Reasoning for this is that they can energise their cells with their unique physiology and encourage replication and rejuvenation.

  195. Death Regeneration? (Raijin Only): The shittiest version of DR due to the above reasons. Probably isn't necessary but just adds flavour.

(Raijin Class Only) Advanced Stance: Nervous Assault: When hitting opponent, the user forces their electrical natured ki into their opponents nerves; scrambling their impulses. 10% chance of inverting opponents movement. Gain 5% energy if procced? (Flavour Text: 'USER's hands begin to pulsate with electricity. The crackling electricity dissipates from 'USER's hands). If procced (Flavour Text: Drains energy from 'OPPONENT's nervous system). This can be taught but only to other Raiju as it is a clan technique.
