  15. I am looking for either a decent host optimised for wordpress or a reseller account. All my sites would be uk based and need fast UK load times.
  16.
  17. thanks in advance.
  18. Without investigating a website, it is not possible to identify what is causing the prolonged page load times.
  19.
  20. Page load times mostly depend on how well optimized the underlying scripts are, in case of WordPress, you might want to look into your theme and plugins. Do not use plugins for tasks that can be performed otherwise or on the server level, such as backup plugins or anti-malware plugins. An overloaded server can also result in poor page load times.
  21.
  22. If you are on a healthy server, the difference in latency isn't noticeable to the human eye or SEO. Any location in the EU, UK, or East Coast USA should be good for you.
  23. I searched for decent shared hosting for years. They all seem to slow down eventually, as more and more customers are added to the server. A good host will manage that situation and you should definitely give them the chance by showing them some statistics (e.g. from www.uptimedoctor.com). Occasional spikes are normal (e.g. when a server is rebooted) but regular page load times in excess of 2s or so indicate a problem. Sometimes they will move you to a new server. Also they may help you identify plugins that are slowing you down - for example, the "readability analysis" option in Yoast SEO can cause problems. If you don't use a cache plugin then you probably should.
  24.
  25. So no, I can't recommend a fast shared host because I'm not sure they exist. I ended up moving to a VPS and that fixed all my speed problems. But you have to learn to manage it, or pay someone to do that.

  32. Some hosts let you monitor usage of system resources, so you can see if you are hitting limits. But when it comes to Wordpress, software optimization is the main concern.
  33. It also depends you are currently saying you have a Shared Hosting, are you just adding on tons of addon domains onto one Cpanel? You may be hitting CloudLinux limits on your current plan and not even be aware that this could be slowing you down.. we see it happen all the time. Developers/Designers think they can buy one big Hosting package and put all the domains as addon domains instead of going the Reseller Route.
  34. Wordpress needs more cpu/ram even IO. Don't expect you will get powerful resources from your $10 budget.

  44.
  45. A few things are missing from what you mentioned. Even though these are websites for friends and family, are they active websites with thousands of views per hour, or a few views per day? Are all of the websites updated? Do any of them have a series of plugins which may be slowing things down?

  58. Those are a few things that you can look into. Issues out of your hands are whether the host has you on a crowded server, their hardware or network has issues, or there's limits in place slowing down the loading speed.
  59.
  60. Moving to an optimized host may or may not be too much for your needs, which ends up as an over-expense each month. If the WordPress websites need to move faster, go through all possible steps to be sure WordPress is not core issue, and then look for a reliable and reputable host that is within your region. A good Shared host can do the job, but if you have outgrown Shared, research potential hosts carefully. Many will claim to provide a specialized service, but then fall short because they're providing a regular hosting account with a fancy name.
  61. WordPress can be terribly slow when not optimised properly and appropriately configured for caching, CDN and other tricks to keep it running well.
  62.
  63. If manually going through your sites to try and optimise them isn't your cup of tea, it may be worth talking to potential hosts to see how they may be able to help ensure your sites are running well a good host should be keen to help you get moved over and running optimally - usually fast hosting means happy long term customers!
  64.
  65. Some key things to look at is if the host support LSPhp (LiteSpeed PHP which is superfast compared to standard) and server-side caching which can provide huge performance boosts for WordPress.

  68. Thanks guys. Site visit is are in the low number. The host I currently use is a waste of time, site availability is sporadic as is site loading times anything from 1 second to not loading after 20 seconds.

  70. I still think you might want to look into your WordPress optimization. Even for a terrible server, 20 seconds load time is way out of league.
  71. Do you see any resource usage spikes on your cPanel when you visit the website? Or, is there any server load indicator on the top right corner on your WHM? If there is what is the average server load and what is the hardware spec of the server you are on?
