- Looking out over the little village, Lieutenant Morrow sighed and shook his head. Walking down off the proto-rampart on top of the HESCO barrier, he glumly moved around.
- "Something eating you, Morrow?" one of his friends asked. Morrow shrugged. The friend, another lieutentant, just chuckled.
- "Tell you what; go down and fish on the river. Just cut a cane pole, and find a worm for bait."
- Morrow nodded. He needed something to do, after all.

- It was about a half an hour later that Morrow was sitting there, about halfway between Firebase Bravo's river overlook and the small village that was by the river. Sitting under a tree, Morrow hemmed a little as his line bobbed in the riverflow.
- As the bushes moved around, Morrow barely noticed a girl coming through and down to sit under the same tree he was under. Dressed in a patterned skirt and a very plain sleeeless shirt. Smiling shyly, her olive skin crinkled at the edges of her eyes as she warmed to him. Wordlessly shrugging, Morrow aquiesed sole use of the tree's shade, and the girl sat down next to him. As he fished, Morrow looked over stealthily, smiling a little at her. Quietly, she chuckled, and spread herself out down by the tree to take a nap. Shrugging, Morrow kept fishing for a while, until he heard a rustling.
- "Sher aes?" the girl asked, tilting her head to one side. Poking the fishing rod, she repeated the question.
- "This is my fishing rod." Morrow replied.
- "This is?" she repeated, poking it.
- "No. Fishing rod."
- "Fishing rod?"
- Morrow nodded, and smiled a little bit. Fortunatly, the girl stayed nice and quiet, so he could finish fishing.

- It had been about three weeks, and every day Morrow had decided to go fishing to relax. Most days, he met the girl, and they talked. Well, shared words at least. She liked learning English, and Morrow had slowly started learning things in her language too. Admitedly, they were mostly food words, but that was something. Or, at least it was something he could use to get things that weren't the normal side of fish in a wrap.
- "Hello." he said, sitting down and unwrapping his fishing pole carefully.
- "Hello." the girl replied. Moments later, she smiled and handed Morrow a fish wrap. Smiling, Morrow took it and reached around, pulling up his empty live fish holder. He'd gotten three for a safety belt,
