As his wedding day approaches, Ben heads to Miami with his soon-to-be brother-in-law James to bring down a drug dealer who's supplying the dealers of Atlanta with product.
The RIDE ALONG 2 sequel picks up about a year after our heroes' last adventure. Plans for a quick trip to Miami go bad. With the wedding upcoming, James reluctantly takes Ben with him to Miami to follow up on a lead connected to a drug ring case he's been trying to crack. In Miami, they meet Maya, a no-BS homicide detective who lets them know Miami is her turf. They also encounter AJ, a shady cocky computer hacker who reveals evidence that implicates a well-respected local businessman, the wealthy Antonio Pope. Pope harbors a vicious streak and rules South Florida's drug trade. If Ben and James can convince the authorities that Pope is a brutal crime boss they'll stop his spree. If they fail, well there may not be a wedding after all.
Okay so is this a film you&#39;ll remember for years to come? No.... but ultimately it does what it says on the tin and If you&#39;ve seen the first film you shouldn&#39;t expect anything different then what this film has to offer.<br/><br/>Ultimately the highlight of this film is the on screen duo that made us laugh so much in the prequel, the back and forth, the clash of character between main characters James and Ben.<br/><br/>If I were to be critical I&#39;d say the plot is lazy and the film lacked anything out of the ordinary from your usual cop comedy. But from Kevin Hart and Ice Cube&#39;s recent work, it would be a fair assumption to make that this film wasn&#39;t going to be outstanding. Essentially it comes down to... did this film make you laugh? the answer for me is yes, It was in parts hysterical and that&#39;s enough for me to give it a 7/10, not for plot nor Oscar worthy acting, but for comedy value alone.
What ever happened to good comedic movies? It seems they died out in the 80&#39;s. Every comedy now is about the star falling on his ass or ramming into a tree or face planting on the pavement. So tell me how is this supposed to be funny? I don&#39;t like Kevin heart movies because I don&#39;t think they&#39;re funny but went to watch this with a friend.<br/><br/>So this movie was all about talking loud, acting stupid and taking hard hits to the face and groin. I rolled my eyes throughout the entire movie and shook my head in wonder. How he heck do these movies make money? Oh yeah because suckers like me are forced to go watch them. I will stay away from all heart movies in the future no matter who tries to drag me with them for company.
The film’s most genuinely funny moment involves A.J.’s ringtones, which should perhaps come as no surprise — the stakes, and the laughs, are so small that Ride Along 2 was apparently designed to be watched on your phone.
