- Hey Everyone, and welcome to a new XIM Mini Tutorial.
- In the following video I want to talk about the most common question that I’ve been asked on YouTube in the last few years now. And since the answer to that question usually involves to write quite some text, well why not make a video about it. Yeah, kinda late I know. So the topic of this video will be “Why does my XIM manager NOT have certain features that other people have? And by that I mean features that you can for example see being used in my tutorial videos, or that one of your XIM friends might have.
- Here you can see an example for that, the walking speed percentage in the advanced settings of your movement options is one of the most recently added features. So there’s a good chance that YOUR XIM doesn’t have it yet. By the way the procedure on how to solve this problem will always remain the same, so even if you watch this guide in a year or two the steps will still be same.
- Now the reason for why your XIM is missing certain features is because either your XIM Firmware, or your XIM Manager is not up to date. In most cases actually both of them have to be updated. And since the XIM Apex usually doesn’t ship with the latest firmware, there’s a good chance that your XIM doesn’t have all of the most recent features.
- Now the first thing you should do is to expand the options in the top right of your XIM manager. After that click on the about tab. Now here you can find both your XIM Manager and XIM Firmware version. The complicated numbers are actually quite easy to read since they just represent the release date of the firmware. So as you can see, the firmware I’m using right now is from 2019. The specific month is July, and the day is the 19th.
- Now head into the XIM Forum. You will now have to compare your firmware versions with the most recent one. Scroll down a little bit until you can see the XIM Apex Download section. Don’t click on downloads but on the tiny beta button right below. At the top you can always find the most recent firmware. Now once you clicked on the topic you should start to compare the XIM Firmware first. As you can see, the most recent firmware is from the 17th of December, so quite a bit newer than my firmware from July. So what I have to do next is to install that firmware onto my XIM. The installation steps can be found right below. You will need a PC or Mac for that. If the installation steps are too complicated for you then you can watch my XIM Basics guide. There I showcase the whole update process in more detail. You can find a link to it in the video description.
- Once your XIM is on the latest firmware you have to compare your XIM Manager version next. As I said earlier, both have to be updated or else you will not have all features. To keep things simple you can always find a link to the latest XIM Manager in the most recent firmware topic. Alternatively the firmware topic may also include the direct download links. But that’s not the case here, so we will have to click on the link above. As you can see, this beta firmware requires us to use the latest official XIM manager.
- At the top you can now once again find the version number. The manager is from the 19th of July, so it’s exactly the same XIM Manager that I’m using right now. So I do not have to upgrade my manager. But let’s assume my manager would be outdated. To update the XIM Manager just scroll down until you can see the manager links.
- For iOS all you have to do is to deinstall your current XIM Manager and download it again from the app store. Currently the manager has no automatic update functionality so with that trick you get the most recent one.
- If you are on Android then you can either check your Playstore app for an update, or you do the same as the iOS users and manually deinstall your current XIM Manager and reinstall it again. Alternatively you can of course also use the .apk download links.
- Now once you updated both your XIM and XIM Manager you should check the about settings in the top right of your XIM Manager again. Verify if your firmware and manager versions are now identical to the most recent ones from the XIM Forum. If that is the case, then you should now find the missing features in your XIM Manager.
