- Question from Polar_Starburst: What is your weirdest/creepiest experience, paranormal or otherwise?
- +harrison_prince
- Let me think
- +harrison_prince
- I was babysitting my sister, who was 5, and I was really into reading scary stories (hadn't found NoSleep yet, though!). Jokingly, I asked her if there was anyone else in the house with us. She got up, walked around the corner to the hallway, and pointed to the end. She just looked up at me with her finger still pointing, and my hair stood on end. We were home alone, and the hall was completely empty. I was a brave idiot, though, and walked down the hallway. The second I felt the air go cold at the end, I noped the fuck out, grabbed my sister, and we left the house. I was I 12 I think.

- Question from theephemera: What was the first time you came across nosleep, and what made you want to write there?
- +harrison_prince
- I read the SAR series via a YouTube narrator and decided to check out the source of the story. Then I skimmed a few stories, and stopped reading for a few months. I added it to my bucket list to write a story for there, though, since I've been writing stories since I was a kid. Well, I finally got around to knocking some stuff off my bucket list
- and here we are
- +poppymoonray
- Question from dodle4: What is your go-to method to stop procrastinating?
- +harrison_prince
- Depends on what I'm procrastinating. I'm good at doing chores because I'll plug in a scary story narrator or any other audiobook and listen while I clean. My wife loves it haha but procrastinating stuff like school work, I generally have to completely shut down YouTube and any other entertainment in order to focus. I listen to asoftmurmur.com too and it helps me get into my zone.
- +poppymoonray
- Question from JustChillin: Who are your favorite authors, and/or what authors inspire you to write?
- +harrison_prince
- Loved Harry Potter, so definitely JK Rowling as someone who really got me into reading. But a lot of the time, I pay more attention to the story than who wrote it. I remember storylines and plots and characters more than I do the authors that created them. I do remember J Scott Savage who wrote Farworld coming to my school just because I got on his message board and asked him to come. His very personal interaction with me makes me want to interact with EVERYONE through the comment section. I love when it happens to me, so I figure I'd return the favor
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: Have you written anything that you were reluctant to let anyone else read?
- +harrison_prince
- How about my whole hard drive? I have hundreds of half-written stories that I wouldn't share, and some complete ones that I wouldn't share too. The one I will never ever go back and finish or share was a 50 page story I wrote when I was 10 or 11. It was just a rambling story with so many "plot twists" that it makes me laugh. I have it printed out in a binder with plastic sleeves for protection. The only digital version is on a floppy disk.
- +poppymoonray
- Question from theephemera: If your stories were a recreational product, what kind would they be? Booze, drugs, etc.
- +harrison_prince
- They'd be acid. Cool when read in the right mood, but terrible when you're not in the mood!
- Good trip vs bad trip
- +poppymoonray
- Question from dodle4: What is the best ice cream flavor?
- +harrison_prince
- I'm a plain vanilla guy and people seem to hate on me for it. VANILLAAA
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: What is your usual preparation for writing? Outlines, freewriting, etc.?
- +harrison_prince
- I switch off, but the ones that people love the most are free written ones. The ones I make up as I go. Like David Fucking King. Totally made up every step of the way. Zero planning involved. Insane to write, but SO FUN.
- +poppymoonray
- Question from PhantomMat: You have to spend Halloween dressed as horror monster/villain scaring one person. Who are you and who's getting scared?
- +harrison_prince
- I've always loved the idea of just being a shadow person. Totally unknown, no one knows what you are or what you can do. As for who I would scare... probably Travis at work. If you're on here, Travis, get ready for Halloween, motherfucker
- +poppymoonray
- Question from theephemera: What's something you've never done that you're afraid you'll never be able to do?
- +harrison_prince
- I worry constantly about starting my own business. It's something I think about a LOT but suck at working on. I worry that if I get too comfortable, I'll just let life go by without going for it
- +poppymoonray
- Question from thatpersonoverthere: If you had to pick one thing, what would you say is your favorite part of being an author?
- +harrison_prince
- People. 100% the interaction with people who read my stories. I don't think I would have been able to finish the DFK series without so much support just because how taxing it was to do under those circumstances. People and online interaction with those who like my stories makes all the difference. And I suppose anyone could twist that to say "you just like the attention" and they'd probably be right
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: Do you listen to any music or podcasts while writing?
- +harrison_prince
- While getting ideas for scenes or new plots, I'll listen to bands like Two Steps from Hell, Hidden Citizens, Brand X Music, Zayde Wolf, and a few others. While I write, I usually listen to creepy background music to make my heart rate go up. I'll give you two links really quick:
- Getting Ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImkYL8wJn4A
- Writing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zRIc1Y7-PQ
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Warbrain-: Was DFK hot? Would DFK x Zander fanfic be totally frowned upon?
- +harrison_prince
- If you saw DFK, most would be attracted to him haha I actually have never thought about him being hot or not! And, I mean, depends on how much you have to twist the facts to get that fanfic running haha! I mean, David died so unless he's resurrected, the fanfic couldn't happen in-universe
- +poppymoonray
- Question from kry: Two questions: 1. Why have you never explicitly condemned bank robbing? It makes people wonder where you stand on this vital issue. 2. But really - what would be the most vital lesson, in terms of your craft, that you've learned as a writer? As in, what's the most vital development in your writing ability/craft that you have experienced as a writer?
- +harrison_prince
- 1. Bank robbing is cool and I'll happily join in! I'm working on other stories that have bank robbery so I guess I condone it! 2. Someone is always going to hate what you create. I've written a series that was popular, and I've written stories that have gotten 2 upvotes. I've learned that I want my stories to stand on their own two legs rather than rely completely on my fame. I use alt accounts for that reason.
- +poppymoonray
- Question from JustChillin: If you were stranded on an island, and could only listen to one CD, what would it be?
- +harrison_prince
- An Enya cd, because there's 25 tracks and they're all varied and I have fond memories of those songs! But mostly for the variety
- +poppymoonray
- Question from thatpersonoverthere: Has anyone ever reached out to you to tell you something you've written greatly impacted their life? If so what context and what story?
- +harrison_prince
- Yes. I won't share too many details, but someone contacted me and said they were pretty well known in their field, and have developed a disease that limits their movements and independence. They thanked me for giving them a reason to look forward to the future during the 8 days of DFK because they'd been considering ending their life.
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: What's a story of yours you hope to see published one day?
- +harrison_prince
- I've been dying to get one out there about an AI programmed for sustainability that decides that his best chance of saving the planet would be to go off on his own and build a sustainable community. So he recruits one of his designers to help and they break off and covertly recruit people and work on that. That's one I've been salivating over lately, but I have a lot more that I'm dying to get out there too.
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: Who would play David in a movie adaptation and who would you want to direct said movie?
- +harrison_prince
- I've heard a lot of people say that Shia LeBouf would be a good David, and I'm inclined to agree! I'm not sure who I would have direct it, though... I don't know many directors by name. However, I've heard through the grapevine that the writer who wrote the movie Chronicle has read the series and loved it
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Polar_Starburst: Are there any films games or w/e that you're looking forward to, which and why?
- +harrison_prince
- Well I WAS looking forward to No Man's Sky... smh. But now I look forward to getting new games for my HTC Vive (you know, virtual reality?) It's super fun and I play it a lot! So I'm always on the lookout for new VR games
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: How many clones of yourself vs. one silverback gorilla, and what's your attack plan?
- +harrison_prince
- I need 2. We both run in one direction, then split off. It has to choose one. Whoever it doesn't choose is in charge of running to the store for a weapon while the other just stays ahead of it. Then I come back and fight with that! (Assuming I start in the middle of the street in a city. Anywhere else, and I'm screwed)
- +poppymoonray
- Question from thatpersonoverthere: Sony or Microsoft?
- +harrison_prince
- Microsoft: I use way more of their stuff, apparently
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: Nsync or Backstreet Boys?
- +harrison_prince
- I listened to Backstreet Boys all the time growing up, so I have to choose them!
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: Coke or Pepsi?
- +harrison_prince
- Neither, I try not to drink soda because I only have one kidney! But I drink root beer more than I should!
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: You have to listen to one George Michael song for the rest of your life. What do you choose and why?
- +harrison_prince
- One More Try because it's the first thing that popped up in the Youtube search ;)
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: you are the reincarnation of a historical figure, who is he/she?
- +harrison_prince
- Benjamin Franklin because he knew more than me and was wiser too
- +poppymoonray
- Question from theephemera: Would you ever consider posting to MotherGrues?
- +harrison_prince
- Now that I know that subreddit exists, I'm going to see what it's all about and decide!
- +poppymoonray
- Question from thatpersonoverthere: How do you feel about Chuck Palhaniuk?
- +harrison_prince
- I haven't read Fight Club yet, but it's been on my list for a long time
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: Favorite authors?
- +harrison_prince
- JK Rowling, J Scott Savage, Orson Scott Card, Stieg Larsson, etc. I know stories more than I know authors
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: the harry potter universe is real, the war is happening now, would you fight with Voldemort or Harry? and why
- +harrison_prince
- Harry, but I'd probably be underground on Voldemort's side feeding information but getting out of dodge when things went south
- +poppymoonray
- Question from cannis: How important is brevity in writing? Is less more when it comes to creating a story?
- +harrison_prince
- Depends on your audience. When it comes to NoSleep, I'd say brevity is important in some parts. For example, I didn't describe David's house at all because it wasn't important at all. But other readers like to completely see the scene and location in their head, so they want more detail. Audience is key.
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: Which Hogwarts house are you?
- +harrison_prince
- Hufflepuff, if I remember right!
- +poppymoonray
- Question from theephemera: What was your favorite book from childhood?
- +harrison_prince
- My parent's tell me it was Jake the Snake. I had an imaginary friend named Jake the Snake too, so that must be it! (I'm thinking of childhood below age seven)
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: What would you want your last meal on this earth to be and why?
- +harrison_prince
- Chuck'a'rama - it's a buffet so I get a little of everything!
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: Do you have any favorite nosleep stories/authors?
- +harrison_prince
- u/searchandrescuewoods brought me to NoSleep, so definitely them. I like u/iia's stories too. u/decomprosed is always hilarious with his character-acting. EZmisery is always a good read too. I'm sure there are lots of stories I've read where I loved the story but can't think of the username
- +poppymoonray
- Question from theephemera: What's something you wish you had written? And what's something you feel was written about you?
- +harrison_prince
- What do you mean by the second part? The first part, I don't have any regrets yet about writing anything because I still have time to write everything I want!
- +poppymoonray
- I think maybe she meant something that truly resonated with you?
- +harrison_prince
- Ohh gotcha
- I really love "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" series. I reread/relisten to it over and over just because I love how all the pieces just come together after being scattered throughout the trilogy
- +poppymoonray
- Question from JustChillin: If you could bring to life any mythological being, what would you pick, and why?
- +harrison_prince
- There's so many good ones! I would say Frankenstein's monster from the classic version. I love that book, and the monster is so much cooler than modern media makes him out to be
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: You mentioned only having one kidney. Can you tell us the story behind that?
- +harrison_prince
- I was born with a "few" medical problems. My esophagus was not attached to my mouth, one of my kidneys was malformed, and a bunch of other stuff. So I have some awesome scars that look like sword fight scars from when they cut me open as a baby and sold my kidney on the market. (think iia might want that story idea). I also have an esophagus that's thinner than normal, so I have to have a drink with every bite of food or else it'll get stuck and I'll have to go get surgery to have it removed. I'm so used to it though that it doesn't affect my daily life! Though I don't know how you HEATHENS eat without drinks....
- +harrison_prince
- But I look totally normal, I'm not like deformed or anything
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: Some famous authors dont like their work to be used in fanfiction (Anne Rice for example), other writers encourage it (JKR always did), if your work and universe becomes popular, would you allow fanfiction or discourage it?
- +harrison_prince
- You know, fanfic hasn't been my cup of tea as far as reading or writing it, but if people enjoy it, I'm not going to crash the party
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: Do you have a Wattpad? because a quick Google search brings up Prince Harrison, but I doubt that's you.
- +harrison_prince
- I do have a wattpad, but I haven't updated it since I first made it. I need to get better at organizing my author strategy. It's @HarrisonPrince and has two kittens in the profile picture
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: If you had to arm wrestle any of the OOC mods, who would you choose and why?
- +harrison_prince
- Gonna have to go with EtTuTortilla because they might let me win but make it look like a real duel
- +poppymoonray
- Question from theephemera: What's something you were hoping to get asked but have not been?
- +harrison_prince
- I'm not sure... my two AMA's on r/harrisonprince and r/fuckdavidking covered a LOT of questions. I guess I'll go with "what are you working on right now?" and the answer is that I'm narrating "It Escaped, I'm So Sorry" complete with sound effects and all
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: What do you think of Stephen King?
- +harrison_prince
- That I need to actually read his books... I will guiltily admit that I have not read anything by him yet :\
- +poppymoonray
- Question from cravethepasta: Do you like horror movies? And if so, what's the best or scariest one you've seen?
- +harrison_prince
- Scary movies are great because they push away the depression
- !
- Hang ong
- on
- Kitten
- airg
- I liked The Sixth Sense! Great movie
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: Were you just mugged by a kitten? If so, did you win?
- +harrison_prince
- I won only because I'm bigger and stronger! Yes, my kitten likes to look at everywhere my fingers touch
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: What's your biggest fear?
- +harrison_prince
- Mediocrity. And the level of mediocrity is defined by my own mind.
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: What is your least favorite thing about writing for nosleep?
- +harrison_prince
- The fact that it's hard to get an audience that size anywhere else on Reddit while writing stories. I sometimes have to try and think of ways to adapt a story just to fit Nosleep because I love the audience there so much
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: do you have another creative outlet beside writing?
- +harrison_prince
- Too many hobbies. I write, I program (working on a script to help out NoSleep at the moment), I used to make dorky Youtube videos, and designing the tools and weapons I'd have if I became a vigilante, because I'm DYING to do it
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: What is one skill or ability you wish you had that you currently don't?
- +harrison_prince
- Circuit design / hardware capacities. I don't know why it's so hard for me
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: if you could live in another time period, which one would it be and why?
- +harrison_prince
- I feel like the past kind of sucked as far as human rights and lifestyle luxury haha but if I could have my current knowledge (and maybe download wikipedia to take with me ;) ) I'd go for maybe around the time of the Romans and help bring down the tyranny!
- +poppymoonray
- Question from JustChillin: What's your idea of a perfect vacation?
- +harrison_prince
- Just hanging around the beach with good sized waves. I always find ways to entertain myself, and I love the beach
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: If you could collaborate on a story with any of your nosleep peers, who would you choose and why?
- +harrison_prince
- Damn it I wish I could remember the name... does anyone remember the name of the one where you went to a website and signed up for an evaluation and it showed you a video and there was mind control and stuff? It was just a few weeks ago too
- They built a whole website for it and everything
- +poppymoonray
- Oh! I think that was snollygolly
- The Gray and Dean stuff?
- +harrison_prince
- YES
- That level of dedication is something I'm dying to do
- +poppymoonray
- Question from raindance: What historical event would you have wanted to witness personally?
- +harrison_prince
- If you've ever heard of the Tunguska Explosion in 1908, that's weird as hell. I'd love to be there and be invincible
- +poppymoonray
- Question from raindance: If you weren't writing horror, what genre would you be writing?
- +harrison_prince
- Thrillers and action/adventure ;) Which, most of my stories have in them anyway
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: Can you give us a brief synopsis of what the Tunguska Explosion was?
- +harrison_prince
- Link first: http://all-that-is-interesting.com/interesting-events/2
- Basically there was an explosion to the power of 2,000 atomic bombs in the middle of Siberia and witnesses claim there was a massive fireball that hit down. The dust could be seen from london
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: you wake up as the character of the "classics" nosleep stories, which story is it and why would you pick that one?
- +harrison_prince
- Borrasca because maybe I could change the outcome. That story fucked me up
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: Thoughts on John Green?
- +harrison_prince
- Nice guy, involved with his readership, which is something I like, and he has some funny jokes
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: If nosleep was a horror movie, who would be the killer? Who would be the lone survivor? What role would you play?
- +harrison_prince
- Well I already know I'd be snooping around in the background, feeling things out and getting information while watching my back. iia would be the killer, and decomprosed would be the last plant standing
- +poppymoonray
- Question from raindance: Who are you more like? David or Zander?
- +harrison_prince
- A mix? I think like David (and the idea of building structure into your life is something I do already) but I sympathize more with Zander and float through life like he does
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: do you enjoy true crime/detective shows? if so, which one is your favorite?
- +harrison_prince
- I love Criminal Minds. I still haven't watched ALL of them, but I'm pretty close.
- +harrison_prince
- Maybe not "true crime" but a crime show
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: Would you rather be a member of the Brady Bunch or the Partridge Family?
- +harrison_prince
- Probably the Brady Bunch because it's the one I've seen haha
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: If you had to switch lives with another nosleep author, who would you pick?
- +harrison_prince
- searchandrescuewoods because lately they've had surges in activity, but not 100% activity and I'm wondering what's going on in their lives and what they're working on.
- I keep saying the same names over and over and I realize how NEW I am to Nosleep haha
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: Favorite food, with drink, considering your condition?
- +harrison_prince
- I really love hamburgers (which is where I'm going tonight after the AMA with my wife and little sister). Yum
- +poppymoonray
- Question from raindance: What superpower do you really really want?
- +harrison_prince
- Telekinesis! If not that, then flying. I've always wanted to fly
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: There's a hostage situation at work, do you hide or try to disarm the criminals at the risk of dying?
- +harrison_prince
- In my mind, find some way to disarm them. In real life, probably hide and worry about getting myself out alive along with those around me.
- +poppymoonray
- Question from raindance: Have you gone skydiving?
- +harrison_prince
- Nope, but my wife and I have tickets for indoor skydiving that we still need to use! She got me to go parasailing in mexico, which I was TERRIFIED to do. She makes me do brave things
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: Are you looking forward to the Power Ranger movie or do you think hollywood should stop milking nostalgia with that sort of movie adaptations?
- +harrison_prince
- I remember loving the show as a kid and being one for halloween one year, but I mean if it comes to the dollar theater I'll see it as a date! I don't think they should STOP, but they're clearly just patting themselves on the back during every one of those movies
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: what is the scariest natural disaster according to you and why?
- +harrison_prince
- The scariest one is an earthquake. Most damage to repair, water systems and water tables become contaminated, everything becomes unstable, and I live near a fault line so it's always in the forefront of my mind
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: How has your success in writing affected your life so far?
- +harrison_prince
- I was checking for new comments all the time for a while after finishing the series. And it's got my mind always thinking "what could make a good nosleep story?" My new goal in life is to write something that does BETTER than DFK
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: If you could change anything about the IDMBF series, would you? If so, what?
- +harrison_prince
- I would change that stupid mistake I made about Jimmy Johns serving a meatball sub! I got so much crap for that haha
- +poppymoonray
- Question from poppymoonray: Of your one part stories, which is your favorite and why?
- +harrison_prince
- On NoSleep, I really like "It Escaped, I'm So Sorry" because it creeps me out when I reread it after a month
- +poppymoonray
- Question from Jiraishin: have you ever read a book that you just hated? if so, which one was it and why?
- +harrison_prince
- I'm not sure... I mean there's the obvious poorly written ones that I never finish, but I can't think of a specific book
- +poppymoonray
- Question from IshySquishy: What are your favorite games?
- +harrison_prince
- I love running around Grand Theft Auto V and de-stressing that way! I love open world games. I have a sandbox game in the Vive that lets me spawn drones that will fly at you and you have to fight them off. That's a fun one
- +poppymoonray
- Final question, from kneeod: What advice would you give to new or aspiring writers?
- +harrison_prince
- Write stories that make you FEEL the same thing you want your readers to feel. When I write horror, my hands tremble, I'm sweating and anxious and sometimes get paranoid. If you're feeling that while you write a creepy scene, you're doing it right
- +poppymoonray
