Unfinished

Drawing lines across wrists with razor blades,
flowering in the mid-night gloom,
A mind imploding, nuclear plume.
Shades of gray refract light, breathless cascade.

The color seen through a stained glass window,
blue,
like the circles on skin, signs to subdue.
Minds now hanging in limbo.

As the sun peaks over the horizon,
just below their cloud of smoke,
pain adds color, red, after choke.
There was no rhyme nor reason.

As oceans fill with joy,
emotions drain with tears,
for far too many years,
Somehow, never cloy.

Staring to the sky
warmth seeping from their veins
the starless night remains
a cold reminder of why.

Charcoal clouds cover eyes,
slowly raising,
disguising,
the demons of demise.

Coughing suffocation,
heard between endless sobs and muffled screams,
a rope is hung from branches beams,
silence ends rope taught extrication.
