  1. Pros and Cons of each route:
  2. + A pro. More +s equals bigger deal
  3. - A con. Same applies
  4. +/- can be either/or, mainly player preference
  5.
  6.
  7. Ventus:
  8. + Easy early game.
  9. + Unlimited amount of side adventures to keep pumping your party up.
  10. +++ Extremely tough team. Full of physical damage dealers, tenacious and high LP characters, and one tanky water mage.
  11. +++ Dragonheart is OP.
  12. - Although Ventus has the team for it, he encounters some of the toughest main story quests in the game.
  13. - Low potential to develop magic. You have the quests to learn it and the characters are decent enough to utilize it, but none of them start with magic tablets or innate spells. Getting tablets from side quests is your only viable way of development.
  14. +/- Game becomes very nonlinear early on. It can be a bit daunting for new players, but it gives you a huge sense of freedom and ultimately allows you to visit every town, granting you a large amount of side quests to complete.
  15.
  16. Judy:
  17. + You eventually get Judy's whole family as party members. All are very strong in their own right.
  18. + Judy gets specialized familiars and starts the game with a forbidden magic tablet, making the game a snap if the player spends the effort to mastering the magic system. Later on, she finds another forbidden tablet too, furthering her efforts.
  19. + Although primarily magic users, Judy also teams up with some rather top tier physical damage dealers and tanks as well.
  20. + Second half of the game is a huge breeze. From Roy to the end the difficulty goes down by a lot.
  21. ++ Armand is OP.
  22. - Judy's early game is quite weak, this making the first few quests a bit tricky if the player is still learning the game mechanics.
  23. - Judy gets a lower number of side quests available than average, which makes development and planning ahead an important part of the game.
  24. - Because of how the story plays out, at max the player will only get 6 total party members for the main story quests. The player needs to take this into account for the final dungeon.
  25. - Josef is a cool character but only joins at the final battle, so he's impossible to develop.
  26.
  27. Laura:
  28. + Very easy early game.
  29. ++ Rather well balanced and diverse cast of teammates the player acquires. Nice blend of Strength users, Skill users, and Magic users.
  30. + Arguably the most linear and easiest to follow story of any route.
  31. -- Game gets very tough after a certain point, and it's possible for the player to get locked into an unwinnable state if not careful.
  32. - The final dungeon has a tetra force, like any other final dungeon in any route, but it's past a "point of no return" where you can only use it after you're in a one way area absent of any monsters, making it impossible to develop.
  33.
  34. Ruby:
  35. + Only route where Iskandar appears. He's a worthwhile ally and will carry the team throughout the entire route.
  36. + Speaking of which, Ruby gets several teammates very early on, giving a lot of time and quests to develop them.
  37. + Ruby's team is fairly strong and well balanced in almost everything, except health recovery. Be careful in extended fights!
  38. - Most of Ruby's team have weak starts in terms of stats and panels. A firm grasp on how character development works is essential to having success in her story.
  39. +/- Ruby's end goal is to complete all of the Seven Wonders, each one consisting of a large dungeon. While this means Ruby is in for some tough boss fights and long dungeon dives, Ruby will also have access to each Tetra Force available in the dungeons, meaning her party can spend an extended amount of time gaining strength. Just keep an eye on the durability levels for your equipment.
  40.
  41. Mythe:
  42. + Tricky early game but easy and breezy after a point until the final dungeon.
  43. + Mythe offsets his early game stuggles with being a holder of two different guns. Players who have practice with the attack reel on guns will have a very easy time.
  44. + Mythe himself is somewhat of a hybrid character; while not particularly strong, he gets some skill increasing panels that are exclusive to him, further powering up his ability to use guns effectively. He is also quite skillful in Water arts too.
  45. +/- Mythe's entire party is full of girls. While having a harem party is very unique and quite easy on the eyes for the player, the downside is that Mythe's team had collectively the lowest LP count to any other team. Not having a designated tank or damage mitigator will be an ongoing struggle on this route.
  46. --- Mythe's final dungeon and final series of bosses are by far the toughest in the game. Players will have to take the time to train and take advantage of every opportunity to build up the characters in order to finish this route.
  47. - Guns tend to fall off very hard in terms of damage. Mythe will have to switch builds or go a hybrid route, learning water/potentially forbidden arts to be useful later on.
  48.
  49. Kurt:
  50. +++ Kurt gets arguably the best party in the game. He gets three potent mag users (Josef, Norff, Play), three strong fighters (Armand, Edel, Mordeus), and Ventus and Hiro are rather well rounded to fill in any other roles as needed.
  51. - That being said, Kurt himself is a pretty poor character. Kurt has some low stat potential; he'll never come close to being as great of a fighter or a magician as his teammates. Being able to make an effective build for Kurt will require a lot of adventures to get the panels you need.
  52. - Even worse yet, while Kurt's Gauntlet panel has high growth rate and is on the center of Kurt's stat panel, it is cursed so it can't be removed. In order to level the panel up, you will get thrown into 1v1 battles at 15 minute intervals during adventures. These will escalate in difficulty; properly building Kurt will be essential to win the gauntlet duels.
  53. - Early game is quite brutal as Kurt will have to complete a couple of very difficult adventures with a small team.
  54. +/- Like Ventus's route, much of the game will be non linear for Kurt. In fact, in order to advance the story, the player will have to complete several side adventures before main story quests open up. This opens up a lot of the game and gives players a large margin of development for their team, but it can seem quite an ordeal for someone still learning the game.
  55.
  56. Armic:
  57. + While the beginning is quite hard, once Armic's route gets going, it is very feasible to beat the game in a short time. Armic's scenario tends to get much easier over time, with the final boss being the easiest boss out of any route.
  58. +/- Because Armic's quest objective is a rather unique one, the gameplay tends to be nonlinear and greatly differs depending on the player's choices in the route. This could mean that, because of story progression, the player could get forced to complete some rather difficult side quests early on to further move the story.
  59. + Adding to the previous point, this also could mean that Armic completed all the side quests he can possibly do at certain points, yet he may not have triggered the next main part of the story. Because of that, there is a hidden secret dungeon that players can access at various points in the game to continue looking for more items. Armic can also use this secret adventure to continue building up his team with panel development.
  60. -- Having a successful play through of Armic's scenario requires having mastery over game knowledge and potentially being able to exploit the game if needed. Knowing how to abuse the Market Rank, failing certain quests on purpose, understanding how to fuse the right items for blacksmithing, etc will be essential to beating this route.
  61. +/- Armic's party is pretty hit or miss. Not only that, but each play through, Armic will have a choice of missing out on one of the four following characters: Rebecca, Edel, Pharr, and Kongming. Armic's team is fairly specialized, but note that the final boss will require the use of various magic arts to be successful against.
