- Essential Utah destinations that are off the beaten path and perhaps a little weird:
- 1. Capitol Reef. It has amazing hikes and gets a lot less attention than Arches in Moab
- 2. Gilgal Garden in Salt Lake City. A bizarre sculpture garden by a Mormon bishop=stonemason
- 3. Homestead crater in Midway
- 4. Great Basin national park. In the middle of nowhere, high altitude, beautiful, 1,000 year old trees, and deer walk through your camp. The cave is amazing.
- 5. The Tree of Life sculpture in the west desert
- 6. Sun tunnel sculpture in Wendover
- Places that are possibly interesting but not all that strange
- Utah lake at sunset is gorgeous
- Mirror Lake is beautiful. Bring a kayak
- Provo center street is interesting.
- 25th street in Ogden
- The Utah Museum of Modern Art is free and worth checking out
