  1. Tentative class list:
  2. >Armoured Hero
  3. I'm debating making this the general tokusatsu class, probably just going to keep it as Rider only though because other series are tougher to balance around (especially ultraman)
  4. >Berserker
  5. The barbarian stand-in. Get mad, do damage, take less damage.
  6. >Druid
  7. Typical nature caster. Debating whether to make Ranger a subclass of this or its own thing.
  8. >Engineer
  9. Half-Caster, not!artificer with a harder lean into tech given the nature of the setting.
  10. >Fighter
  11. Fightan man, you know what this does.
  12. >Mage
  13. Sorcerer and Wizard are definitely subclasses of this with their own gimmicks, Spellsword is either going to fall into this or Fighter as a Subclass. Not sure about 5e-style warlocks (pact making mages).
  14. >Marksman
  15. Gunner/Gunslinger class. most martials can use guns, but they specialize in them.
  16. >Martial Artist
  17. The monk stand-in. Will have a Gun-Fu Gunk subclass as well as a Might focused subclass for either grappling or old school fisticuffs instead of monk shit.
  18. >Priest
  19. The cleric stand-in, I'm also debating moving the not!warlock here as a subclass to be the "evil" alternative? Also, heavily considering Paladin being a subclass of this.
  20. >Rogue
  21. Your dickass thief, will have a james bond esque subclass for gadgetry and spy shit as well as having Bard as a subclass for its half-caster option.
  22.
  23. Big notes:
  24. Class Levels range from 1 to 30. 21-30 are minor improvements on base features.
  25. All Classes get an Archetype (subclass) at 1st level.
  26. All Classes get a Perk (Feat) at 1st level.
  27. Pure martials (Armoured Hero, Berserker, Fighter, Marksman, Martial Artist, Rogue) get a Perk (Feat) every 2 levels starting at 2nd level.
  28. Half-Casters (Including subclasses, meaning your Perk Progression shifts if you pick one) get a Perk every 3 levels starting at 3rd.
  29. Full Casters (barring half-caster subclasses) get a Perk every 4 levels starting at 4th.
  30. My big sticking points so far:
  31. Paladin, Ranger, and Spellsword as Archetypes. While I feel Paladin and Ranger especially could benefit from being tied to their sister classes of Cleric and Druid respectively, there are also benefits to making them their own thing. Spellsword works as a stand-in for either Eldritch Knight or Bladesinger too.
  32. Warlocks or pact magic users (people who make pacts for power) are weird, and while I like how they sort of do their own thing in 5e ehhhh could work as a subclass?
  33. Wizard and Sorcerer being one Class. While it keeps redundancy low, it also lowers class variety a bit.
  34. The default system will be Spell Points of a sort (Mana) combined with leveled spells (Called Spell Circles) ranging from 0 to 10. 0-Circle spells are basically 5e cantrips, and are Unaligned. 1st-Circle to 10th-Circle Spells are split into Arcane, Primordial, and Divine and what Spells you can learn depends on your SPecies/Class/Archetype. I like this more than slots, because I can account for costs when I think about power.
  35. Spell list will be pre-made, but expect a lot of "this is a similar spell to that, but with a different damage type and maybe a different check to avoid it". 0-Circle Spells will be the most diverse and not tied to any one Spell Alignment (meaning any caster can learn any cantrip)
  36. Spell Scrolls and Spell Tomes will be featured, and work like they do in my 5e games, so that non-casters can buy and use Spell Scrolls.
  37. Tomes will be the only way for a Caster to learn new spells outside of a level up, including Wizards.
  38.
  39.
  40. So for gunner I have:
  41. >Drifter
  42. Focuses on using pistols one-handed and mobility.
  43. >Heavy Ordinance
  44. All about big guns (like Machine guns) and explosive launchers. Can destroy Cover and treat heavy weapons like they're much lighter than they actually are as well as speeding up their reloads.
  45. >Matrix
  46. A mix of Max Payne and The Matrix, lets you move when you avoid ranged attacks and cast the system's version of the SLow spell by spending Style, the replacement for Luck points.
  47. >Sniper
  48. Focused on using Hunting Rifles, Marksman Rifles, and Sniper Rifles, it's all about precision and huge single-shot damage. You can also hold your breath three times as long as a ribbon later on.
  49. >Spec Ops
  50. Replaces Specialist from the 5e class, it's about using specialty Ammo that you get (akin to Maneuvers or Arcane Marksman shot options) as well as tactical use of non-damaging Grenades.
  51. Smug — Today at 2:10 AM
  52. Then Martial Artist, which will have:
  53. >Strength-Focused archetype that focuses on fisticuffs and grappling
  54. >Not!sun soul/DB inspired archetype that lets you shoot energy lasers
  55. >Mysticism, which is the half-Caster option
  56. >Samurai, which focuses on weapon use and courtesian stuff
  57. >Some sort of Firearms inspired class, probably john wick adjacent
  58.
  59. After that, Paladin, which will have Divine Codes (Oaths):
  60. >Code of Faith, you're dedicated to your deity above all else and seek to act as their sword and spread their faith
  61. >Code of Justice, you're dedicated to fairness and equality, giving no quarter to those who would eschew objective judgement of the guilty.
  62. >Code of Light, you become takanuva aka your entire focus is on protecting the light of life within others and the light of positivity within yourself, banshing darkness wherever it appears.
  63. >Code of Redemption, you used to be a bad dude but you have devoted the rest of your life to attonement and seek to redeem others who walk the path you once walked, else strike them down if they are too far gone
  64. >Code of Vengance, you are now divine batman, you strike out against those who would hurt others as you have been hurt so that nobody has to experience the pain you have
  65. Then Priest, the cleric stand in:
  66. >Domain of Life, the healslut subclass, your scrimbos who do tons of healing and preach for the sake of deities of life or light.
  67. >Domain of War, you serve a deity that rules over war or death and seek to proclaim their glory through battle. Focused on buffing allies and leading them into battle as well as having an easier time wielding melee weapons of higher tiers.
  68. >Domain of Knowledge, you gain access to some Arcane Spells and get tons of bonuses to knowing shit. You serve a god of knowledge or secrets and aim to guard that shit
  69. >Domain of Creation, your religious school had an art degree and you got it. You're all about promoting creativity and shit.
  70. >Domain of Storms, you worship a god of the sea or storms and can channel their power, they can let their friends have a swim speed and breathe underwater and shit.
  71.
  72. I'm debating a Pact Keeper, or if I want to make it a unique Half-Caster Archetype of Wizard that has the scaling thing 5e's Warlock does.
  73.
  74. Ranger gets:
  75. >Beast Tamer, it's beastmaster from D&Dfinder, you get a scaling animal friend (that your GM can murder without mercy)! Best part is it's a generic statblock so it can be flavored as whatever you like, and gets new cool stuff at later levels.
  76. >Farwalker, you become a passing-through Ranger who can harness the power of dimensions to empower their attacks and teleport themsselves and eventually whole groups long distances.
  77. >Ronin, you're a masterless samurai who focuses on melee combat without quarter and specializes in dual wielding.
  78. >Shadow Hunter, it's Gloomstalker but not quite as busted. You play this if you want to go MAXIMUM EDGE.
  79. >Monster Hunter, Monster slayer mixed with Hunter, you can more easily track and hunt down monsters and animals and can get more materials and meat from them.
  80. Smug — Today at 2:21 AM
  81. Rogue is here, and gets:
  82. >Spy, the james bond variety with a dash of TF2.
  83. >Bard, you play music on your sick magic electric guitar and can buff your team and talk the socks off of anyone.
  84. >Assassin, you are really fucking good at killing people
  85. >Charlatan, Swashbuckler with a different name and a penchant for performance and being touch to hit.
  86. >Heister, part Thief, part Payday 2 Hacker Perk Deck, you're good with computers and stealing shit.
  87.
  88. Sorcerer gets:
  89. >Uh IDK lmao
  90. >I think I had an idea for a Gambit (X-Men) themed subclass that lets you sling playing cards to cast spells? IDK what I'll do with that
  91.
  92. Wizard:
  93. >Again IDK yet some sort of pact keeper maybe as the half-caster warlock stand-in?
  94. >Maybe Wizards who have different types of spellbook or way of casting?
  95. >Engineer didn't get an alchemist, maybe a Wizard who uses chemistry to cast their spells then?
