  4. The story begins with an impoverish farmer who hunts for meat and winds up in a treacherous and mountainous area called the spine. This area is considered forbidden as villagers see that it has a correlation with magic, which is considered frightening and something not to be trifled with. Despite this, the farmer, Eragon, finds a strange blue stone while traversing there, and decides to use it as a substitute instead of obtaining meat. He is unsure of what this stone is, and hopes that it might be valuable. After returning home, the stone hatches and from it emerges a dragon. As Eragon secretly raises it, more questions and doubts comes to his mind about dragons. He has no hopes of obtaining information about dragons; they are scarce and rare, and he would be shunned if villages found out about him owning one. He continues this lifestyle until two dark Ra'zac enter the town looking for the stone. The dragon, named Saphira, senses the danger of the Ra'zac and leaves town along with Eragon. During the absence of these two characters, the dark Ra'zacs kill Eragon's uncle, Garrow, and from Eragon's perspective on this situation, he vows to take revenge towards the insidious duo. He meets his future mentor, Brom, and with him, Eragon, and Saphira takes on the quest of vanquishing the Ra'zacs. Along their way, Brom teaches Eragon magic and swordplay. After a period of time, the two grew friendly towards each other and Eragon has developed his swordplay to a formidable level. Having learnt the necessities to fight, Eragon and company fell into the trap of the Ra'zacs on their chase into the town of Dras-Leona. Subsequently, Murtagh heroicly saves them with the same objective of the company. Unfortunately, Brom the admirable character was wounded and soon died.

  6. Following Brom's death, revealed a lot of information for Eragon. He now knows that Brom was once a dragon rider. He was apart of the vardens, the rebel group, against the king Galbatorix and his last request was to meet a person within the varden. Respecting his wishes, Eragon sets out with Murtagh along with an elf girl they rescued during the incident and venture forth into the Varden's clever hideout. There, Eragon and Murtagh met many important figures and we begin to see that the plot is developing into a battle in a much larger scale.
