  1. Stretching from coast to coast and from mountain chain to mountain chain, the central plains of Summerset represent one of Tamriel’s greatest agricultural regions, rivalling the Heartlands of Cyrodiil. Since times immemorial, the Alinor Plain has supplied the Altmer with enough produce to keep them self-sufficient on all fronts. At the same time, it represents the hallmarks of Altmer labour and ingenuity, a representation of the ideal order, of hard rural folk among tamed landscapes and of gracious thinkers in shining cities.
  2. What was once a largely forested land has been, through millennia of intervention on part of the Altmer, turned into an artificial landscape like no other in Tamriel. Chimenfel - Altmeris for “Changed land”, as this type of environment has specifically come to be known - represents the final victory of the Cultured Folk over nature. Nowhere are Altmeri ideals of civilisation and cultivation as prominently and clearly presented as they are here; wilderness is long gone, replaced with manicured groves, vast fields and well-maintained roads. Throughout the millennia, the Altmer have altered the landscape by cutting forests, digging canals and constructing artificial mounds and terraces. Not to their personal preference – although there is certainly an aesthetic quality to Chimenfel that even non-Altmer can appreciate –, but in accordance with a perceived natural order. Complex religious instructions must be abided by in order to keep the sacred geometry intact, thereby securing an orderly prosperity to this nurtured wild. To this day, the art of maintaining Chimenfel is delegated to trained arborists whose magical prowess provides them great respect in their particular home fiefs. They are assisted by conjured helpers, entrapped Daedra, goblin labour and in some cases, Altmer commoners taking part in service to their lord or religious authority. Truly, it is with zealous devotion that the serfdom move along impressive roadworks and canal systems, using a sensible, yet strong touch to reshape the landscape and maintain its tranquil order.
  3. Such order persists from the grand metropolis of Alinor on the beautiful Pearl Coast in the west, across the city of Rosefield, hidden among the ridges of Lower Etonia, and to the eastern coast of Karndar Strait and the magical Isquer, where natural essences seem to congregate.

  5. As grandiose as all of Sumurset’s cities may be, few come close to Alinor, the beating heart of Calluis Salache. Its spires rise high into the sky, blinding visitors to the city on clear, sunny days. To a wanderer from Cyrod City, Alinor may seem strangely familiar, its architecture distantly related to that of Nibenium’s oldest and most luxurious districts, only those palaces and arboretums seem to be transplanted all across the city. Here scholars, artists, sorcerers and aristocrats alike thrive, adding to the already vast pool of Altmer innovation, art, wealth and thought.
