There might not have been time for a plan, but they didn’t need one. Moving in sync, Jesse fired around Ashe as they backed toward the exit, targeting the gang members hidden around the warehouse. She heard a yelp as one of her bullets clipped a shoulder, and Jesse crowed with triumph as he picked a revolver right out of one of the Diamondbacks’ hands. Ashe glanced over her shoulder just long enough to see Jesse grinning like a madman, and if it hadn’t been for the mortal danger, she might have smiled right back. As it was, she felt a rush of excitement. They were closer to the corner now, and after that, they could make a run for the exit.
