- // BASICS //
- Alupula UNO is an Alupula iteration of the popular card game, UNO.
- The object of the game is to play all of the cards in your hand until you
- have no more cards left. The winner then scores points for the cards in
- other players' hands (optional). The first player to earn 500 points wins
- the game.
- // SET UP //
- Shuffle the deck and deal the cards. Give 7 cards to each player.
- Place the remaining cards in the draw pile. Turn the top card of the pile
- over to reveal the first card. If the top card is a Wild, Draw 4, or Nagasaki,
- put it at the bottom of the deck and pick a new card.
- // SPECIAL CARDS //
- Draw 2: If you play this card, the next player must draw 2 cards and forfeit
- their turn. This card may only be played on another Draw 2 card or on a
- card of the same colour as the Draw 2 card you want to play.
- Draw 4: If you play this card, the next player must draw 4 cards and forfeit
- their turn. This card may only be played on another Draw 4 card or on a
- card of the same colour as the Draw 4 card you want to play.
- Reverse: If this card is played, order of play is reversed. If play is clockwise,
- it now goes counterclockwise, and vise versa. This card may only be played
- on another Reverse card or a card of the same colour as the Reverse card
- you want to play.
- Skip Card: The next person must forfeit their turn. If this is the first card flipped
- over from the deck, the dealer is automatically skipped. If you want, you may
- bend the rules to prevent this card from being first by placing the skip card to
- the bottom of the deck, and drawing a new card. This card may only be played
- on another Skip card or on a card of the same colour as the Skip card you want
- to play.
- Wild Card: When you play this card, you may change the colour being played into
- any colour (including the current colour, but excluding colourless). If this is the first
- card put in play, the dealer may pick the first colour.
- Wild Draw 4 Card: This card allows you to call the next colour played, and the next
- player must draw 4 cards. However, there's a catch! You may only play this card if
- you do not have a card with a matching colour or number, (only exception is if a
- colourless card is on the top of the pile). If this card is flipped over at the beginning
- of play, discard it and pick a new one.
- Colourless Card: When this card is played, it changes the playing colour to the next
- colour put in the pile. Colourless cards also have no defined number, meaning the
- card may also be any number. The next card may not be a Wild or Wild Draw 4 Card.
- Nagasaki Card: When this card is played, every player (including the player who played
- this card), must count the cards in their deck, and draw that many cards. You may not
- win the game using this card. You may place it down as your last card, but you have to
- draw 2 cards and the other players draw nothing. It is recommended to take all Nagasaki
- cards out of the deck if anyone in your group is new to the game UNO. If the most
- recently played card is a Nagasaki, you may not play another Nagasaki card until the
- Nagasaki card player's turn comes around again. The Nagasaki card has no value at the
- end of the game.

- // POINT VALUES //

- NOTE: If you are playing casually, you may set these point values at whatever you
- want.
- 0-9: Face Value
- Colourless: 10 Points
- Draw 2, Reverse, Skip: 20 Points
- Draw 4: 50 Points
- Wild Draw 4, Wild: 100 Points
- Nagasaki: 0 Points
- // WINNING //
- When you are down to only one card, you must shout "UNO". If you do not say "UNO",
- you must draw 2 cards. Once you play your final card, if you are not playing with points,
- you win. If you are playing with points, add up points from your opponent's hands using
- the scoring scale above. If you hit 500 points (or whatever your preferred target is), you
- win. If you did not reach the target, you may play again.
