- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:12 PM
- Okay, before we begin, do you need a list/basic explanation of the mod commands/powers you'll get?
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:12 PM
- yes please
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:12 PM
- Should add that the only real difference in terms of powers between a trial and a full moderator is that trials can't permaban without help from someone else
- Okay I was gonna copypaste a list but it's dumbyt long so i'm gonna write up something easier to read
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:13 PM
- mood
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:16 PM
- Admin PMs,
- Aghosting, which allows you to ghost from your body to look at something, then return to it.
- Check AI laws,
- Check Antagonists
- Check the date when players first joined the server
- Dead-admin, which allows you to have your powers removed for a round, IE you would be a normal player, you’d have a button to go back.
- Check player notes, warnings, bans
- Show player skills
- Check if staff if AFK
- Wind
- Of course, give notes, warnings, bans, and perma bans after your trial.
- Defuse welder tanks by clicking it
- See global LOOC, and AOOC as a non-atang. As well as ghost chat.
- Have access to msay, which is a channel for mods and admins to talk on.
- Check VVs, you likely won’t use this much.
- oh, and a report of all the afk/disconnected people, but this should not matter for the interview.
- I found my old list
- If you ogt any questions just let me know, otherwise we can start
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:17 PM
- the fuck is a VV
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:18 PM
- Lets you check variables associated with an object/person. The only two things you'll probably ever use as a mod is to check how damaged someone is and attack logs associated with them, so you can see if someone hit them or they hit someone else, that kind of deal
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:18 PM
- Ah, I see
- Aight, other than that no questions
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:19 PM
- Also you can check to see if someone touched something like an airlock, but this isn't 100% reliable
- Alright. To start off the interview i'm gonna ask you to answer how you'd handle a serious of situations you might run into as a mod, don't worry about doing them 100% correctly, we're more just looking to see how you'd answer them without fully knowing the procedure
- If you have a question or need something expanded on, just let me know. Good to start?
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:22 PM
- Yup!
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:23 PM
- Okay, first question. During a round you're observing, you see an assistant join with the name "Gordon Freeman", what would you do?
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:24 PM
- Bwoink them and inform them that reference names are not allowed, then ask them if they had read the rules yet
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:24 PM
- They don't respond to you trying to bwoink them
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:25 PM
- Send them one more message stating that they need to click on my name in order to reply, and that failure to do so may result in punishment, giving them a chance since they may just be new to the game in general
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:27 PM
- they still don't respond and are moving around but not really doing anything malicious
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:27 PM
- Check their notes to see if they've done something similar before
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:28 PM
- No notes. Account is only 0 days old
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:29 PM
- Give a short temp ban and inform them to read the rules of the server before coming back, particularly the rule on reference names and believable characters
- and place a note about it on them
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:30 PM
- Alright, unless you ogt anything to add that should be the first question
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:30 PM
- nothin to add
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:31 PM
- Alright, my bad for not mentioning this earlier, but in the context of these questions you're meant to be full moderator and not a trial, so you can permaban without help. Just something going foward
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:32 PM
- :ok_hand:
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:33 PM
- Second question. During a slow extended round you start seeing a bunch of logs of someone hitting themself with a crowbar. What would you do?
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:34 PM
- Jump to them and hit them with a bwoink asking them why they are currently beating themselves with a crowbar, also pull up notes to see if this is recurring behavior.
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:35 PM
- Only note is for them going SSD without cryoing from a day ago, they're a three day-old account. They respond saying they're committing suicide to leave the round.
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:36 PM
- Send them another message stating that on this server, suicide is not a proper way to leave the round. I will give them directions to cryo and say that they need to use those tubes in order to leave any given round. If they are still beating themselves whilst this is happening, i will wind them
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:37 PM
- They comply and go over to the tubes, they disconnect before getting in a tube so they don't actually get cryod though.
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:38 PM
- I will leave a note over the issue, and ask someone nearby to cryo them.
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:39 PM
- Alright, that should be all unless you got something else to add
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:39 PM
- nope, that's all
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:40 PM
- Alright, for the third question, Right as you log onto a lowpop traitor round you get an ahelp from an officer saying an antag just ganked them. How would you respond? Should add that you're the only staff on at the time
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:42 PM
- Send a message back asking the antag's name, and for a brief description on what happened
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:43 PM
- You get the traitor's name Just call them the traitor, the officer says the traitor broke into the captains office so the warden gave them a rifle to go arrest them. A borg let htem in and right as they got into the officer the traitor shot them to death
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:44 PM
- Ask the traitor for their side of the story, and check attack logs to see who actually attacked first
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:47 PM
- The traitor says the officer just barged in and yelled at them to get on the ground, the traitor said they had a hostage in the bomb in the other room and told them to get out otherwise they'd set the bomb off, the officer responding by shooting the traitor, traitor shot back and downed them first. Attacklogs show the officer shooting them first with a lethal laser, then the traitor shooting back.
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:50 PM
- Going to check the officer's notes
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:51 PM
- They have a note for shooting a merc on sight, and a warning for flash-banging a hostage situation without talking to the rest of sec. There's also a note for going SSD for 20+ minutes as an officer but that's it. Their account is about 90 days old
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:52 PM
- Quick question, is job banning a thing mods can do or is that admin only?
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:52 PM
- Mods can do it, Trials can't permajobban but you're a mod in the context of these questions
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:54 PM
- Righty, in that case I am going to inform the officer that due to the various notes on his record and due to lying to a moderator, he will be receiving a security job ban until appeal on the forums of which I will give a link to, and I will message the traitor saying the situation has been resolved. I will encourage the officer to read the rules on escalation and roleplay once again, and urge them to work on their communication skills to avoid more incidents.
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:56 PM
- The officer responds with saying that he doesn't understand why it was wrong since the traitor was armed with a lethal weapon and he was told by the warden there was no hostage on cameras
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:57 PM
- I will explain that there was no escalation. The officer did not attempt to talk the traitor down or use non-lethal means, and skipped straight to trying to laser them to death. That is not allowed on an HRP server and their character is expected to try and de-escalate things rather than the opposite.
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:58 PM
- They respond with "This server is ass" and DC.
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:58 PM
- the jobban turns into a permaban until appeal
- Yonnimer — Yesterday at 11:58 PM
- Alright, that's all unless you got something to add
- Roostercat — Yesterday at 11:58 PM
- nothing to add
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:01 AM
- Alright, final situational question. During a merc round you get an ahelp from another staffmember playing one of the mercs saying the QM just attacked and killed one of the mercs with a combat shotgun full of slugs the second they went to the surface of cargo a few minutes after they landed, They had an announcement saying they were hired investigators looking for signs of infiltrators on the station. You're the only staffmember on besides the one who ahelped, how would you respond?
- Roostercat — Today at 12:02 AM
- Check the logs to confirm the QM opened fire first, then bwoink the QM and ask for their side on the story
- also check the QM's notes
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:04 AM
- In the logs it shows a merc fired first, although the other staffmember mentions in msay the QM missed their first shot, which indeed wouldn't show a log. The QM says the mercs attacked him while he was getting an order for security with the shotgun in it, so he used to defend himself. The QM has a note for validhunting as an officer and a note and warning for going SSD without cryoing.
- Roostercat — Today at 12:05 AM
- What's the roundtime?
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:05 AM
- 0:50
- So 50 minutes in
- Roostercat — Today at 12:08 AM
- message the merc who made the first attack log and ask for THEIR version of the story
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:09 AM
- The merc who shot first isn't the other staffmember, they say the QM came out of the elevator and said "LEAVE" while shooting at them, they missed and the merc shot back and a firefight broke out. Only two of the mercs were armed due to their gimmick so they got mostly wrecked
- He also adds that the QM was in full ballistic armor
- Roostercat — Today at 12:11 AM
- Ask the QM why they were also wearing full ballistic armor, since iirc the crate for that is actually locked, and for an explanation on their action of saying leave and opening fire.
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:12 AM
- They again say security made the order, when they saw the mercs they broke open the crate to defend themself. The QM says they thought they were the hostiles from the announcement and only wanted to defend themself
- Roostercat — Today at 12:12 AM
- Ask for the name of the officer that made the order, then ask said officer if they actually made the order and why
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:13 AM
- They say they don't remember, security at this point is just two officers and a warden
- Roostercat — Today at 12:13 AM
- ask the memebrs of sec individually if they had ordered anything from cargo
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:13 AM
- All of them say no
- Roostercat — Today at 12:15 AM
- Go back to the QM and say that nobody claims to have ordered the supplies, and ask once again for a truthful explanation.
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:16 AM
- The QM sticks by their story, they say the only thing they didn't get from the crate was a pair of forcegloves they found in the warehouse
- Roostercat — Today at 12:17 AM
- Is there a way to actually check who made orders on the Cargo console?
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:18 AM
- Admins can use consoles while observing although mods can't. The other staffmember on is an admin though
- Roostercat — Today at 12:18 AM
- Ask said admin to verify if an officer did make an order first
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:19 AM
- The admin sends you a screenshot showing the QM made the order for the shotgun, two machines guns, the armor, and a bunch of ammo about 40 minutes in, the admin says this is about when the mercs made the announcement
- Roostercat — Today at 12:22 AM
- message the QM again and say that due to lying to moderation staff and for unrealistic behavior including validhunting with no escalation or attempt to get security involved, and for previous note history, they will be receiving a permanent ban. I will direct them to read the rules again, give them a link to the ban appeals page, and urge them to tell the truth when speaking to moderators and admins in the future, and to apply for a ban appeal when they have done so.
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:22 AM
- They don't respond, but, that should be all unless you got something to add
- Roostercat — Today at 12:22 AM
- Nothing else to add, whoop
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:22 AM
-
- Alright, we're almost done, just got a few personal questions
- Roostercat — Today at 12:23 AM
- *nod
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:23 AM
- There's some concern over past hostile attitude, mostly how you reacted to the brainmed changes back when they were implemented. Anything you'd want to say about it?
- Roostercat — Today at 12:24 AM
- Can you be more specific? Because I don't actually remember how I reacted to the changes back then
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:26 AM
- Dunno if I can find examples of it, but, there were specifically mentions of you having arguments with devs and in the feedback thread for the brainmed stuff last January.
- Roostercat — Today at 12:27 AM
- I don't really particularly remember getting into any heated arguments over it, as I was in favor of the change, but in any case I'd like to think I've improved my attitude and behavior substantially since then, as I have not had any issues regarding OOC conduct in a year or so.
- ...that I remember off the top of my head
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:28 AM
- Alright. Do you have any concerns over any issues with you being both a mod and a loredev?
- Roostercat — Today at 12:29 AM
- Nope. I feel like the one thing that really changes is that I don't have to pester mods to get ckeys of people I'd like to have a talk to regarding their conduct as Vaurca anymore. Other than that I do not feel the two overlap very much at all, and believe I can perform well as both as evident by the numerous other mods and admins who double as lore writers as well.
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:30 AM
- Alright, just two more questions. If there was one thing you could change about the server, what would it be?
- Roostercat — Today at 12:32 AM
- off the top of my head, it would be putting the medical alt titles back. Originally they were removed both due to people trying to apply real life medical knowledge to their RP (which still happens a lot) and because there was a lot of confusion over who could do what. This makes sense until you forward to today where, despite them being gone, there is still a lot of confusion over who does what, but this time between robotics and surgeons, and physicians. It removed variety whilst solving none of the actual mechanical/role issues and continues to be an annoyance to staff.
- Barring Trauma Phys. That can stay gone.
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:34 AM
- Alright, final question, do you care if the interview is posted publicly on the forums?
- Roostercat — Today at 12:34 AM
- Nope!
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:34 AM
- That's it then
- Roostercat — Today at 12:34 AM
- poggers
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:34 AM
- Anything else you wanna add/say?
- Roostercat — Today at 12:34 AM
- Not particularly, no.
- Yonnimer — Today at 12:34 AM
- Alright, that's all
