  1. ~Piexplode: hey yea it's basically a server dedicated to a fakemons-style project that
  2. ~Piexplode: we're working on creating, spriting, coding, etc.
  3. Destiny Device: i see
  4. Destiny Device: interesting idea
  5. ~Piexplode: thanks ^^
  6. ~Piexplode: it's been nice seeing how it's actually managed to
  7. ~Piexplode: become a real thing
  8. ~Piexplode: I'm mostly worried about the art atm but I have Jac trying to get a CAP artist to come help sprite for us
  9. ~Piexplode: and we've got a couple of tricks to unveil to increase server popularity, both by increasing the draw of the metagame and increase the audience aware of it
  10. ~Piexplode: as well as drawing more people to the server generally
  11. ~Piexplode: which is why there's a lot of extra rooms, is for the purpose of accomodating that if we do eventually have a larger playerbase rooted here
  12. ~Piexplode: :)
  13. ~Piexplode: and in terms of the BAM metagame itself
  14. ~Piexplode: the first obvious plus is
  15. ~Piexplode: we've removed a lot of
  16. ~Piexplode: really annoying shit like
  17. ~Piexplode: no ohko moves
  18. ~Piexplode: no evasion
  19. ~Piexplode: no stun effect on paralysis
  20. ~Piexplode: (very almost) no confusion
  21. ~Piexplode: so the main source of hax I guess is
  22. ~Piexplode: added effects/move accuracie
  23. ~Piexplode: *accuracies
  24. ~Piexplode: which imo is a fine thing for a starting point
  25. ~Piexplode: it'd be fun seeing an actual low-'hax' metagame
  26. Destiny Device: amazing
  27. Destiny Device: finally a competitive game
  28. ~Piexplode: we have the polar opposite in my main tier which is RBY OU so it'll be interesting learning how to play a totally contrasting metagame
  29. Destiny Device: o.o
  30. ~Piexplode: well other metagames are competitive but I think
  31. ~Piexplode: well with RBY it's not so much uncompetitive or anything
  32. ~Piexplode: it just forces you very much to
  33. ~Piexplode: acknowledge how probability affects your play
  34. Destiny Device: yeah
  35. Destiny Device: that's true
  36. Destiny Device: rby is a legit gen
  37. ~Piexplode: agreed
  38. ~Piexplode: and then I guess this being the polar opposite should make it
  39. ~Piexplode: pretty interesting
  40. ~Piexplode: also no competitively like important move has less than 80% accuracy
  41. ~Piexplode: and we also have 100% accuracy on the toxic/WoW clones
  42. ~Piexplode: in terms of my competitive credentials to suggest to you that I am capable of balancing this I guess the most I have is I did have a decent record in the ubers premier league, and I have good records generally in RBY OU
  43. ~Piexplode: in terms of other contributers I do have like other ubers staff generally (which is where a lot of my friends are from)
  44. Destiny Device: i'd love to see
  45. ~Piexplode: ^_^
  46. ~Piexplode: in terms of what you can do to help, there is a bit of a barrier to outright creation at the moment, and there's a lot to learn
  47. ~Piexplode: the website is free to sign up on, read upon, comment upon, etc.
  48. ~Piexplode: we're basically at the point where
  49. ~Piexplode: every competitively relevant move is created
  50. ~Piexplode: we're trying to complete the movepools of the current pokemon
  51. ~Piexplode: we're aiming for a limit of around 60 pokemon
  52. ~Piexplode: we currently are on a quite long hiatus (it's been well over a month now)
  53. ~Piexplode: at about 40 pokemon
  54. ~Piexplode: trying to work out stuff such as
  55. ~Piexplode: abilities that need distribution, moves that need distribtuion
  56. ~Piexplode: support moves that need more distribution or more varied distribution than they currently hav e
  57. Destiny Device: how that turns out to be
  58. Destiny Device: great
  59. Destiny Device: can you link me it?
  60. Destiny Device: oh nvm, PS lags
  61. ~Piexplode: http://projectbam.proboards.com/
  62. Destiny Device: forget that first line
  63. ~Piexplode: well there's the forums
  64. ~Piexplode: in terms of navigating the main features
  65. ~Piexplode: in BAM Extra there's a WIP beginner's guide
  66. ~Piexplode: but that has complete summary of the majorly different competitiv emoves (so stuff like type STABs aren't included)
  67. ~Piexplode: BAM Moves and BAM Abilties have
  68. ~Piexplode: threads both titled Overview
  69. ~Piexplode: which are each sticky
  70. ~Piexplode: *stickied
  71. ~Piexplode: an important mechanic is also detailed in BAM Extra is called terrains which is
  72. ~Piexplode: very important so worth a read upon too
  73. ~Piexplode: and then that leaves looking at the actual pokemon
  74. ~Piexplode: in teh BAM Pokemon subforum there's a thread caleld Pokedex which
  75. ~Piexplode: assigns numbers, typing, base stats, and possibly names to all of the pokemon with threads
  76. ~Piexplode: inside eac respective threads however is their ability, movepool, and any artwork and commentary
  77. ~Piexplode: ^_^
  78. ~Piexplode: so that's how to navigate the site for the most part :)
