<FlameShirt> Dougie shakes his head.
<Puppetmaster> June bites her cheek. She should've requisitioned a gas mask.
<AgentFrost> "Should've brought some goggles huh?"
<Snowshoe> Those of you who have been here before recognize the hallway, and can see that the ash is hanging much, much thicker than before. There are two doors on the left of the hall, and two doors on the right. One door is set into the wall directly opposite from where they're entering.
<Snowshoe> The knocking sound is louder know, coming from a room labeled 1B.
<Snowshoe> It echoes in the hallway.
<AgentFlowers> "Oh, this is not good. 1B is the one Greg pissed off before, I think." She trains her rifle on it.
<FlameShirt> Dougie raises his rifle slightly, tightening the grip.
<Puppetmaster> June unclips her torch and holds it in her right hand, sweeping it around the hall.
<Gara> Loren turns on her flashlight.
<AgentFrost> Howard shoulders his rifle and disengages the safety.
<Puppetmaster> left hand*, derp
<Gara> Loren moves behind the shooters.
<Roget> Ralph draws his sidearm and slowly heads in
<AgentFrost> "Should we light the door up or open it?"
<Snowshoe> Nothing moves as June shines her light around. She notes that each door is labeled, 1A, 1B, 1C, and 1D. Shadows play across the walls as the light from June's torch catches on floating pieces of ash.
<Snowshoe> Nothing reacts to the groups entrance, and the ticking remains the same.
<FlameShirt> "What happened here before?"
<Gara> Loren waits until the door is opened.
<Puppetmaster> June sticks to Loren like glue.
<Snowshoe> The door remains firmly shut, though the means to open it is a very visible knob.
<AgentFrost> "Who wants to get the door?" Howard asks, rifle still shouldered and pointed at the door.
<Gara> "I've got the door."
<AgentFlowers> Lily signals back to Dougie. "Dougie, wanna tell the guys outside to get ready, then cover me while I open this thing?"
<AgentFrost> "Open it from the side, stay out of the doorway."
<Gara> Loren is ignored.
<Roget> Ralph coughs.
<FlameShirt> "Yeah, sure. Can do." Dougie disappears outside, says something relevant to the guys and darts back in.
<FlameShirt> Dougie stands just behind Lily. He taps her.
<Snowshoe> The guys wave and nod in a "Yeah, sure, right after you're all dead" kind of way.
<Puppetmaster> June's right hand is firmly on her left hip, ready to draw her blade in an instant.
<FlameShirt> Dougie has his rifle raised, point at the door.
<Gara> Loren just keeps the door lit.
<AgentFrost> Howard stands opposite of the door

<lurkd> She's a bit out of breath from running.
<FlameShirt> Dougie walks over to the vat, looking out for dangers on the way, rifle still raised.

He's connected to the roof by a black rope coming from what you'd guess is the back of his neck, but you can't see it while he's sitting like that. His fingers are drumming against the side of the vat, tapping a piece of loose metal and generating the clicking.
<Wogglebug> " /What all's going on? I woke up and followed a stream of chumps./ "
<Puppetmaster> June shines her light on the man. "Damn..."
<Roget> "There's a thing in this weird-ass prefan that they want us to un-thingify."

<FlameShirt> Dougie tries to wave the light away so as not to startle the guy, and steps back from any hoses he's next to.
<Roget> "I don't know, I just work here." Ralph looks into the room to see what all the fuss is about.
<Puppetmaster> June shines her light on the ceiling instead.

<Gara> Loren walks over to Dougie. "God..." She looks at the man. "Can you hear us?"
<lurkd> Elif stands next to her.
<Snowshoe> The man stares at Dougie as he approaches, still tapping away at the side of the vat. He doesn't react to your presence, other than to stare at you. He shifts his gaze to Loren as she speaks, then nods jerkily.
<Wogglebug> " /Who's the kid with all the bad ideas?/ "
<Puppetmaster> June follows Loren, sweeping over the ceiling meticulously.
<Roget> "Which one?"
<FlameShirt> "Hmm", Dougie says to Loren. "Hey! You alright?", he says to the guy.
<AgentFrost> "Sir, if you can hear us, please acknowledge."
<Gara> "Can we get you out somehow?"
<Gara> "He acknowledged, kid."

<Snowshoe> He shifts his gaze from Loren to Dougie, not entirely certain who to nod to. You note that the hoses dangling from the roof of the vat he's in aren't attached to him.

<AgentFlowers> Lily keeps her light on the first guy, shifting her stance to see both spots.
<FlameShirt> Dougie keeps his rifle on the guy, but probably gets distracted by the other people shouting.
<Puppetmaster> June grips her knife more tightly, her knuckles turning white.
<Snowshoe> The first guy is apparently oblivious to glass crunching, and continues drumming against the side of the vat. Those of you looking towards the crunching, there are a lot of vats in the way. You're going to have to move out of the row you're in to see.
<Roget> "Let's split up and look for clues."
<Puppetmaster> June keeps her torch pointed toward the sound, sidestepping across the room to get an angle on it.
<AgentFrost> "Who wants to hang back with the guy on the ropes?"
<Wogglebug> Arthur moves towards Elif. "Dammit Fred that's what got Velma killed."
<AgentFlowers> "Alright... New guy," She points to Howard.
<Gara> "I'm staying with the guy here."
<Gara> She taps on the vat.
<AgentFlowers> "You keep your gun on this one, with Loren."
<AgentFrost> "What's up?"

<FlameShirt> Dougie doesn't like that the vat-guy is /still making noise/.
<Puppetmaster> June keeps her eyes firmly on the far corner. "Oh come now, where's all your spirits of adventure?"
<Snowshoe> The guy here doesn't react to her tapping. Loren, now that you're close to him, you can see that there's a metal hook half-embedded in the back of his neck.
<AgentFlowers> "We left them in the Pool."
<Wogglebug> Arthur comes up next to Elif and pokes her. "Hey. Hey you."
<Snowshoe> June can't see the far corner, there are vats in the way.
<AgentFlowers> "Dougie, you're with me, you too Arthur. You've got the best eyes."

<AgentFrost> "Loren, something up?"
<lurkd> She cringes at Arthur.
<Gara> "He's got a hook in his neck."
<Snowshoe> June is going to have to do more than sidestep to get out of that row of vats.
<Wogglebug> Arthur looks at Loren. "Either of you have basic engineering training?"
<Wogglebug> Arthur has suddenly lost interest in Elif.
<Gara> "No."
<lurkd> Elif raises her hand.
<FlameShirt> "Hmm, alright." Dougie looks distrustfully at the vat-guy.
<Wogglebug> "Can you hold things with your hands?"
<Puppetmaster> June keeps her torch pointed in the general direction of the noise and waits for someone else to take point.
<Gara> "Yes."
<Wogglebug> "That'll work then."
<Wogglebug> Arthur goes over by Loren.

<Snowshoe> The vat-guy continues drumming. He stares at Arthur blankly.
<AgentFlowers> Lily takes point for the expedition to the far corner, as the most senior security agent.
<FlameShirt> Dougie stacks up on Lily.

<Gara> Loren is gone over by.
<Puppetmaster> June sticks a meter back from Doubie.

Those of you who saw the last person like this, you note that his mouth is actually not gasping for air, and lines up with his words.

<Snowshoe> He grins at Lily. "Good afternoon, miss." His voice is raspy and high-pitched.
<Wogglebug> Arthur turns to the new guy. " /So. I heard you're new./ "
<Puppetmaster> June's hand grips her knife tighter until she thinks her knuckles are going to crack.
<AgentFrost> "Yes, just got here today."
<AgentFlowers> "Identify yourself."
<lurkd> Elif looks at June and shakes her head.
<Roget> Ralph watches on from a bit back, waiting for shit to go down.

<Snowshoe> The man in the vat shakes his head jerkily, lips trembling as he does so. He continues tapping at the side of the vat with one hand. The other moves towards the hook on the back of his neck, hand shaking violently. It stops about a foot away.
<Snowshoe> Anybody who wants to act on the thing walking towards the vat, you're going to have to do it now or never.
<AgentFrost> "I think we need to get him down from there."
<Puppetmaster> June sweeps her flashlight over the ceiling again, making sure.
<lurkd> Elif yells at it.  "Stop!"

<Snowshoe> The black ashy thing arrives at the vat. It reaches down a hand towards the man sitting inside, who stiffens and taps louder and quicker when the thing comes into view.

<Snowshoe> Loren, he's sitting inside the vat and attached to the roof via a hook embedded in the back of his neck. Are you trying to cut the rope?"
