  3. [div style="font-size:10px;letter-spacing:0.5px;text-align:justify;"]If a human is bitten by a Werewolf on the night of the full moon, the human will contract the magical disease known as Werewolfry, or by it's medical term, Lycanthropy.
  4. If the character is an OOC trait holder, they will contract the full disease and become a Werewolf themselves.
  5. If the person infected is not a trait holder, no longer hold the trait, had the curse removed from their wound or been infected outside of the full moon, the character will not contract the full curse and will only develop extra characteristics. See below under Wolfish Tendencies for further information.
  6.
  7. A Werewolf who has embraced their bestial nature and practices Dark Magic will have a corrupt soul. They may show further bestial aesthetic changes to their person that are menacing and lupine, such as excessive body hair, more canine-shaped teeth, sharpened nails (though these must be maintained) and more lupine eyes.
  8.
  9. [span style="font-family:times new roman;"][b]THE TRANSFORMATION[/b][/span][ul type="circle"][li]Werewolves must endure an excruciating transformation into their Beast form - a large wolf with a pelt that matches their natural hair colour with a tufted tail and a short snout (though some Werewolves are bipedal and appear more like a cross between a wolf and a human) - that differs from other transformations in the Wizarding World as it is entirely forced and follows the lunar cycle.[/li][li]At the roleplay, the lunar cycle is condensed to an OOC weekly basis. The full moon begins at 00:01 on Friday and ends at 23:57 on Sunday in the roleplayer's respective timezone, and during this time each character can transform once for up to 3 OOC hours.[/li][li]Werewolves can also transform on the dates of full moons in real life - see the dates and effects below under Full Moons.[/li][li]The transformation itself must have a minimum of 7 lines of roleplay - nothing can stop or reverse a transformation, so this rule does not change in emote or desc combat settings.[/li][li]Once transformed, Werewolves have the full advantage of their superior abilities detailed below. They also possess a thick hide that is not easily penetrated by magic, so spells third year and below have little effect on them. It doesn't protect them from psychological spells, however, or spells that emit an external force.[/li][li]A Werewolf can take a potion on the night of the full moon known as Wolfsbane that allows them to keep their human consciousness during their transformation - this potion allows them to make rational decisions, though its taste is difficult to stomach.[/li][ul]A Werewolf who has not taken Wolfsbane will not retain their human consciousness during a transformation. They will be entirely unable to discern between friend and foe and its heightened aggression will cause it to attack anything that moves. If there is nothing nearby to attack, it will go in search of a victim or attack itself out of frustration.
  10. Regardless of whether a Werewolf is on Wolfsbane or not, they will be able to remember the events of the full moon afterwards, though how they feel about it is subjective to the character.
  11. Traces of Wolfsbane in the system will last roughly 3 OOC days.[/ul][/ul]
  12. [span style="font-family:times new roman;"][b]STRENGTHS[/b][/span][ul type="circle"][li]Because of their bestial nature, Werewolves possess enhanced senses both in human and Beast form.[/li][ul]One of their enhanced senses is their sense of smell. They are able to detect other humanoids in close proximity (Veela, Vampires, or other Werewolves) unless they're wearing No Smell Solution. Another enhanced sense is their hearing, and their eyes adjust easier to the dark.
  13. These enhanced senses are subjective to their environment and surroundings. The more distant the scent or sound is, the less accurate their senses are. Similarly, scents and sounds will be stronger in closed rooms as opposed to open air.
  14. Werewolves also possess heightened speed and strength. In Beast form these are very pronounced, in human form, less so.[/ul][li]Consumption of raw, fresh meat aids in the recovery time of major wounds and aids in the healing of minor wounds.[/li][li]Werewolves are lupine, and like regular wolves, will often group together in packs. This is not always the case - many Werewolves prefer to be solitary, sometimes out of shame or fear.[/li][li]Werewolves are very heavy and therefore levitation charms are incredibly difficult to use on them. More often than not, they will be able to overpower the spell, but there is a possibility of it working when the Werewolf is already weakened.[/li][/ul]
  15. [span style="font-family:times new roman;"][b]VULNERABILITIES[/b][/span][ul type="circle"][li]As well as their agonising transformation, Werewolves also suffer with general sickness that follows the lunar cycle.[/li][li]Though the illness is portrayed slightly differently by everyone, some symptoms include nausea and vomiting, upset stomachs, short tempers, pale and clammy skin, weakness and fatigue, shortness of breath, headaches and dizziness, vertigo, and dehydration.[/li][li]While these symptoms can come and go depending on the time of month, Werewolves suffer with a constant fever that raises their body temperature permanently. They are warm to the touch, a stark opposite of Vampires, who are cold to the touch.[/li][ul]Around the time of a New Moon, Werewolves will feel some minor relief from their symptoms, which may reflect in their mood.
  16. During the days of a Waxing Gibbous, their symptoms will become progressively worse as they approach the full moon.
  17. The days directly before and after a full moon will lead to extreme weakness, aggression, and nausea.
  18. During the days of a Waning Gibbous, alongside the recovery from their transformation, their symptoms will become progressively better.[/ul][li]Bites and scratches from a Werewolf carry Lycanthropy too, and their cursed nature makes them impossible to properly heal.[/li][li]Werewolves are not able to transform into an Animagus, but do hold the ability to cast a corporeal Patronus charm.[/li][li]Some, but not all, Werewolves are allergic to silver. See Allergic Reactions below.[/li][/ul]
  19. [span style="font-family:times new roman;"][b]WOLFISH TENDENCIES[/b][/span][ul type="circle"][li]A person may develop wolfish tendencies if they have been attacked by a Werewolf. This includes being bitten outside of a full moon, previously holding the trait, only being scratched, or if the victim is not a trait holder.[/li][li]A person with wolfish tendencies will experience moments of heightened aggression, such as a shorter temper since their attack.[/li][li]They will also develop a craving for rarer meats, similar to pregnancy cravings, and have less interest in food that has no meat. Sorry Vegans.[/li][/ul]
  20. [span style="font-family:times new roman;"][b]PREGNANCY & OFFSPRING[/b][/span][ul type="circle"][li]Werewolves in human form are able to carry a child to term without complication, and the development of the fetus is not impeded by the regular transformations in any way, as the body is built to protect the womb.[/li][li]Lycanthropy is not hereditary. It is not passed on to the offspring of a Werewolf. However, this has been a subject of debate in the IC community for generations and is still being explored through research to determine the truth of the matter.[/li][li]It is a known phenomenon that two Werewolves that mate under the full moon can produce a litter of lupine offspring that bare a resemblance to regular wolves that possess near-human intelligence and make for ideal companions. To produce a litter, approval must be gained from the Head of Department and only 1-3 will be approved at a given time.[/li][li]It is suspected that female Werewolves may have more chance of multiple births in one pregnancy (e.g. twins, triplets, etc) in the same way wolves will have multiple cubs in one litter. Alpha males and females who have embraced the curse may also feel more inclined to mate in the days leading up to the full moon.[/li][li]The lifespan of a Werewolf is the same as your average witch or wizard -- 120 years.[/li][/ul][/div][/div][/div]
