  1. Here is the character sheet!
  2.
  3. Name: Yata Kasai
  4.
  5. Age: 30(stopped aging at 16)
  6.
  7. Race: Yuki-Onna (Formerly Human)
  8.
  9. Appearance: Incredibly pale skin that's probably about as white as the snowy mountains she once lived in. Always oddly cold to the touch. Lips are perpetually frostbitten and carry a vaguely bluish/purple hue.
  10.
  11. Empty, milk-white eyes that lack any real expression.
  12.
  13. Hair is oddly coloured as well, tinges of blue around the top, before fading off to darker hues around the back. Hair is somewhat long, reaching down to her back.
  14.
  15. Physical build is a bit waifish. Stands at 5'9 in height.
  16.
  17. Personality because I fucking want to write it out: Yata is a very prideful individual. She takes great pride in her work, and will probably conflict with any other musician that has the boldness to boast or show their skills off near her. While Yata tends to be openly haughty and abrasive, she isn't necessarily vain.
  18.
  19.
  20.
  21.
  22. Nationality: Xantese
  23.
  24. Equipment:
  25.
  26. Nageku -- a finely crafted flute made entirely out of Norvar. Kept in a heavily insulated case.
  27.
  28. Yorokobi-- Violin, kept in a case along with the bowstring.
  29.
  30. Blue kimono decorated with white butterflies.
  31.
  32. Very, very, very thick boots and leather gloves.
  33.
  34. Magic (if any): Ice magic and Sound based magic. Mostly ice, though.
  35.
  36. Uses various musical instruments (or singing if necessary) to cast her spells.
  37.
  38. Worship (if any): Would worship Rania if she wasn't dead! Still considers herself a follower, though, and wishes to one day find a way to bring her back, as far fetched as that sounds.
  39.
  40. Likes to pay respects to Curia otherwise.
  41.
  42.
  43. Background: Yata was born and raised as a child to a pair of rather renown musicians from Xantese. Though her family never really gathered honor through adventure and battle, they'd instead gather plenty through the music that her father and mother played for them. They were treated as royalty essentially, as the nobles of Xantese would often invite the Kasais over to play their instruments for several different formal occasions.
  44.
  45. Despite this, Yata's family never really stood in one place. They loved to mix up the life of adventure and art together, and toured around different corners of the world to perform their music and share their stories. While they settled in one spot for Yata to grow, the moment she was 5 years old, she was already given Yorokobi, a violin, at a very young age, and went through strict lessons from her father in how to use it the moment she plucked its strings.
  46.
  47. It took her a few years to even be considered 'decent' at her work, but by the time she reached eight, her parents had realized they managed to raise a prodigy! The young girl was soon allowed to join them in playing with them in their performances, and they'd travel the world together as a family, singing and playing songs dedicated to the events they've passed, heard, or went through during their travels.
  48.
  49. One day, Yata's family had received invitations from a rather prestigious noble family far north of Xantese, towards the icy mountains. Being hesitant due to the family not really being one for the cold, they soon decided to head over after hearing a rather hefty sum of coin promises to be given to them just for showing up, let alone putting on a decent show. Not to mention, Yata had actually plead for them to do so, as, what better place to further her magic than a place perpetually locked in ice?
  50.
  51. Yata was sixteen when they reached the village. Their performances naturally went quite well; Yata decided to ask her parents to stay at the place for a while longer, and so, they used the funds they earned to buy out a decent home within the cold. After all, they felt their daughter had earned the right to hone her skills in magic even further, if she really wanted to.
  52.
  53. Some two weeks or so later, the Kasais were already on their way out of the icy mountains, when they met a sprinting, frantic man holding a pristine, white case. He claimed that this case carried a very powerful artifact -- a mystical flute that was capable of commanding the very element of ice itself. Yata thought this far too good to ever be true; she may not have known how to play the flute as well as the violin, but the idea of a magical instrument that just happened to command her favored branch of magic was literally everything perfect landing in her lap.
  54.
  55. And that scared her.
  56.
  57. Still, the family seemed eager to look at the instrument. Her father and mother believed that the gods themselves must have literally crafted this precious thing as a gift to her -- nothing too different from the tales they sang, anyway. So, they took the instrument, and somewhere along the road, Yata decided to open it and practice it at night during camp, whilst her parents were asleep.
  58.
  59. Yata marveled at the sight of the flute. Literally carved straight out of solid ice, and yet, it refused to melt. With the eagerness of a child, she grabbed at the flute, only to wince in pain as its cold chilled her fingers. Yelping in pain, she'd whimper in confusion as the 'ice' had began spreading to her fingers. The crystals locked tight, and she pulled her fingers away, finding that flecks of her skin had been torn in the process.
  60.
  61. Furrowing her brow, Yata snapped the case shut and took it to her tent. She didn't want to rouse her parents, so she figured she'd wait until tomorrow to explain to them what had happened. Feeling faint from the whole scene, she decided to lay down and finish up her night right then and there.
  62.
  63. Waiting was the worst mistake in Yata's life.
  64.
  65. That next morning, Yata had woken up to find that everything around her was frigid. Frozen entirely, the blanket she wore was a stiff mess. Frost clung to the ground beneath her, and she'd stumble out of the tent, confused. She hadn't known she changed entirely; with her black hair fading at the top, and her skin turning pale white.
  66.
  67. Her parents were silent.
  68.
  69. She stepped towards their tent, surprisingly warm despite the cold environment she suddenly found herself in. Then, she found their bodies, chilled and still.
  70.
  71. Motionless and unmoving, Yata's mother and father were both frozen solid, their skin bluish from frostbite, and their expressions vacant.
  72.
  73. That day, her screams were followed by sobbing, and Yata had cried for quite possibly the longest time in her life. After mourning her parents' demise, she'd stumble around to grab her instruments, as well as their keepsakes, before marching off to the nearest town in hopes of finding help.
  74.
  75.
  76. Overview since I'm lazy to write the rest out at the moment:
  77.
  78. After that incident, Yata had taken her belongings (as well as some keepsakes from her parents) and wandered to the nearest town. She took her parents to the nearest noblemen and had them shipped off back to where she was raised, where the nobles would bury them together as their final resting place. Though she suspects their cause of death to be the flute (and possibly herself), she decided to simply say that they died of frostbite, keeping out any of the details to prevent herself from being ostracized!
  79.
  80. Yata then searched for answers about her flute, discovering that it was crafted entirely out of Norvar ice. To match the name of her violin, she decided to call her flute 'Nageku', and shortly discovered that she could play it without any further harm to herself. She'd learn to practice the flute throughout the years; plenty of willing musicians were more than eager to teach her a few things, as, back in her homeland, she was more or less known as a child prodigy.
  81.
  82. Finding that her ice magic had grown tenfold the strength it used to be, Yata decided to use this gift to her advantage. She'd travel throughout Xantese as a wandering musician, much like her parents, and her services would be used for countless festivals as both entertainment and decoration.
  83.
  84. -Insert bit of where Yata appears with the party due to not being conscripted at this moment.-
