- >The gymnasium was hot, stuffy and the music deafened your ears
- >But that wasn't why you stepped outside into the chilly, spring breeze
- >"What took you so long?"
- >"Aah, the girls wouldn't let me go if I didn't dance with them for a song or two, sorry, haha."
- >"Hm." responded Monika, looking away from him, into the dark green hues of the soccer field
- >She had a small argument in her head over whether to act upon her jealousy or inwardly forgive him because of his incessant need to please
- >"I-I got you something!" You hide what's behind your back, and her eyes light up
- >"Oh thank god, I'm starving."
- >"They wouldn't give me another set of cutlery though, can you believe that?"
- >"It's fine." Monika puts the fork in her mouth and whips it out, showing off it's renewed cleanliness and a smile
- >With her arm around yours, you lead her to the outdoor lunch benches
- ---
- >She takes a bite out of the salad, and Monika's face scrunches up
- >"Ugh!"
- >"Yeah..the chicken was dry too."
- >"I guess that's why they call it a night to remember. In ten years I'll still know exactly what this tastes like." She shivers, cleansing her palate with a forkful of mashed potatoes
- >"So...is that your coat?" A question you were dying to ask - it was twice her size and covered everything but her shins.
- >"Oh, no. It's Ms. Brown's."
- >"Why did she-"
- >"Because she said, 'I coUlDn'T sLeeP aT nIght iF I kNeW aNyOnE eLse sAw yOu iN tHat DreSs!'" Monika imitated, while rolling her eyes.
- >"That bad?"
- >She shrugs. "It's why we're here, and not in there, after all."
- >"Can I take a peek?"
- >She stops mid-chew to look at your expectating face, and her eyes narrow
- >"You'd love to, wouldn't you?" She grins
- >"What? I was going to see it anyways!"
- >"True...but now you're going to have to work for it~" She sings, waving the fork around in the air
- >You can't object to that sly, giggling face. As always, she holds all the cards.
- >"What do you want." You say deflatedly.
- >She gets up from the bench, and dusts off her coat, shaking her dress into place.
- >"Something I was going to get anyways - a dance."
- >She reaches her hand to you, and you cautiously take it.
- >"Okay, sure...but there's no music." You say, getting up and sliding your hands onto her padded waists.
- >Her hands wrap around your neck, and she dreamily murmurs, asking you to sing instead
- >"Not gonna happen."
- >"What?, Come on, I sung for you before." She pouts
- >"Yeah, but you're actually a singer and-"
- >"Anon!" She pounds your chest. "It's prom! Can you just be romantic, for once?" She whines
- >You sigh, "Alright, alright..."
- >You rack your brain and think of a cheesy love song from the 50's
- >"Time after time, I tell myself that I'm-"
- >"Anon, I can barely hear you."
- >"Ah, jeez, give me a break..."
- >Her hands pull your face in closer, "It's only me, now. Don't be shy," she whispers
- >You continue the song with more vigor, "I tell myself that I'm, so lucky to be loving you..."
- >Monika begins to step to your rhythm, with your head concentrating on not messing up, you follow
- >"So lucky to be, The one you run to see,"
- >You stumble around each other, twirling in a circle, the uneven pavement a terrible conductor for elegance and romance
- >Regardless, her ponytail is swaying back and forth in tandem with the wave of the slow dance.
- >"In the evening, when the day is through..."
- >The night is young, but dark. Monika's pearl white skin of her face, her neck, hands, they glow.
- >"I only know what I know, The passing years will show, You've kept my love so young, so new..."
- >Her eyes are glued to you, and your bursting heart born of embarrassment and excitement is begging you to look anywhere but.
- >You tell your heart to go to hell.
- >"And time after time, You'll hear me say that I'm, So lucky, to be loving you"
- >The puckering of your lips on the last lyric entice Monika to lean in and smooch your lips.
- >The dance ends and another one begins, arms flying into new, anticipated spots
- >Your tongue tests the waters, poking her lips and they open generously, letting you enter and elope with her own
- >Hungrily, you lean forward, causing her to arch her back
- >Your tongue waltzes around with hers, romping outside in the open
- >"Mmhm!"
- >She steps back, delaying your passions so she can give you the reward
- >"Here,"
- >She unties the belt around her waist, and undoes the buttons of the coat
- >From the bottom, to the top
- >With both hands, she clutches both sides of the coat, and quickly scans around her
- >She opens the coat, and you can fully see her dress
- >https://twitter.com/potetos7/status/1158758978744012806
- >"So? How do I look?"
- >Your jaw drops
- >"Come on, say something!" She urges.
- >You unfreeze your body just enough to point at her left shoulder strap
- >"What?" Monika looks down. "Oh my god!" She turns around and cocoons herself
- >"Why didn't you say anything!?"
- >"I-I.." Her nipples were swollen from the cold.
- >"Oh my god this is so awkward..." She bundles her hands under her knees, she's in a sort of upright fetal position
- >To break the ice, you chuckle, bend down and wrap an arm around her "I-I guess I don't feel so bad about singing now!"
- >"Shut up!" She covers your face and tries to angrily squeeze it to stop it from laughing
- >"Wow, I'm really glad Ms Brown didn't let you in now."
- >"Why?"
- >"Because every guy there would be fucking checking you out, I'm getting mad just thinking about it..."
- >She relinquishes your face. "You'd get jealous?"
- >"Of course!" Your eyes narrow, "Wait is that why you wore it?"
- >"No, no! I just..." She thinks, covering her cheek
- >"You know I saw it at the store and I tried it on and I just thought, 'Wow, I look amazing. If I wear this he wouldn't bother looking at anyone else'..."
- >She shakes her head in repugnance "I have a habit of not thinking ahead."
- >You rub her shoulder, "Well, if it's any consolation, I can safely say that I will never get the image of you in that dress out of my head."
- >Monika's eyebrows twitch, "Was that supposed to make me feel better?"
- >You burst into laughter again and she sighs
- >Monika pokes a finger into your chest, "Well, I guess we'll have to make some new memories to erase that one then, won't we?"
- >"What do you mean?"
- >She leans in and lowly slurs into your ear, "Did you know my parents are away this week?"
- >Her smug smile rightfully returned on her face, she gets up and puts out her hand again
- >"Come on, take me home."
