Their enemies were terrible and many, but the ancestors battled until they alone remained in the bloodied waters. Then the Spirit of the Abyss urged them upwards, to the surface. The ancestors were aghast, but the spirit chided them, and prophesied: If the ancestors mastered ocean, land and air alike, one day their children would once again rise from the mud and dirt to find a new deep to conquer.
