Hi

I'm gonna write stuff about things in no particular order, no clue how long/short this is gonna be lol

SMB3 Tourney is still rolling along nicely, a little bit of a log jam as we needed to wait for the 12HourChallenge peeps to get comfortable enough to race (super happy they're stepping up btw) but once that gets settled I think we'll be moving along at a good clip. The deadline for Loser's Round 1 might be tough to hit as I didn't realized that all of Winner's Round 2 needed to be finished first, but if we continue at the pace we've been going I don't see it being an issue. Also stoked to be "partnering" with SRL for this, at first it was just kind of a "hey, can we do a race or two just to let people know this is happening" and now we're working with them to try and schedule alongside the tournies they're running. While it's a little more hectic, it also allows us to get a much larger audience to show off the great community, which was one of the main goals all along. :)

Still waiting to get my first match in as I got a bye in the first round, pretty nervous tbh. I had a really nice run that might have turned into an actual PB had I not spaghetti'd the last room in Bowser's Castle, so that's promising signs that maybe there isn't as much rust as I thought, but I still want to practice/do more runs so I know that wasn't just a fluke.

SMB3's birthday is Friday! I originally thought about doing a big mararthon with nearly every category invented, including learning a bunch of the lesser known and less serious categories, like All Forts, All P-Switches, All White Houses, etc. but honestly I just don't have enough time for that. Also I don't think anybody even knows all those categories except maybe barnowl? so it would be something on my own and I think I'd rather do more of a race type thing. So I'll probably ask around and see what kind of races people would be interested in, suggestions I've heard have been 300%, Randomizer races (which we should do more of anyways because they're really fun), or maybe just a big wide open Warpless race. Maybe we'll do all 3? Idk.

Along with that, a lot of people have decided to learn SMB3 during the 12HourChallenge! I've been trying my best to hop in and offer advice, but I've probably missed quite a few :( Just wanna let anybody who did learn or is learning, feel free to knock on my door with any questions, at worst I'll try and point you in the right direction if I don't know myself.

Moving on to video games that aren't SMB3. My 12HourChallenge went really well! SMW is a really fun game to learn, and I'm really glad I went with No Cape No Starworld; I think it was the perfect category for me to learn during the challenge. I got a time which I would classify as "OK." There's a lot of improvement to be had, but that's to be expected. Using the Practice Rom is really great, I've been grinding DP3 a lot and the minimal downtime between attempts is so nice. I may or may not be writing this in between attempts of DP3 :P

Another game that might be popping up a little more often again: UNIRACERS! If you haven't seen yet, Auth, Cab, and I will be racing Uniracers during the SNESSuperStars marathon on Tuesday, March 15th at ~6:40EST! I definitely want to do well, so I'll be practicing/racing this, especially as the marathon draws closer. There's also another thing going on soon, but I'm keeping it under wraps before it gets officially announced.

On the casual side of things, I want to start Viewtiful Joe sometime soon, maybe Saturday if I can find the time. I'm not too worried about getting through the game this month, but at the same time I don't wanna wait until the very end to try and cram it in. Also need to wrap up Zelda Classic, but there's still a ton of stuff left to do and after discovering the THIRD overworld I've become a little scared lol. May or may not stream that again. I also wanna do some really difficult game on stream again. After watching a Bucky O'Hare Hard Mode race this weekend, I realized I needed some salt in my life. Might do Bucky? or maybe Boshy? Battle Kid? Other difficult game that starts with the letter B? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Long story short, there's like 8000 video games I want to/should be playing all at once now. I'm going to play as many of them as I can.

P.S. I've unironically starting using smiley faces nearly everywhere now. Let this be a lesson for all of you, it's too late to save me, but maybe I can save one person with this warning.
