celeste questions

1) Does your character have siblings or family members in their age group? Which one are they closest with?
Genetically, Celeste's an only child, but she grew up with Sophia, to the point that they consider each other sisters.

2) What is/was your character’s relationship with their mother like?
Very positive - Celeste respects Johanna a lot, and Johanna is very supportive of Celeste.

3) What is/was your character’s relationship with their father like?
She never met her father. She was the result of a one-night stand. It never bothered her that much, though.

4) Has your character ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them? If so, does anyone else know?
The deaths of her pokemon left her permanently scarred. Yes, other people know, definitely.

5) On an average day, what can be found in your character’s pockets?
Wallet, pocket knife/multitool, X-Transceiver. She keeps most of her stuff in her bag.

6) Does your character have recurring themes in their dreams?
Most of them are nightmares, so see below.

7) Does your character have recurring themes in their nightmares?
Reliving the deaths/near deaths of her pokemon, or occasionally deaths that haven't happened (mainly if a major fight is approaching).

8) Has your character ever fired a gun? If so, what was their first target?
Guns are illegal in most of the world, so no.

9) Is your character’s current socioeconomic status different than it was when they were growing up?
...Sort of? Her mom's rise to fame as a contest coordinator meant that they weren't exactly poor at any point, but they never lived extravagantly; Celeste earned a lot of money on her travels as a trainer as well, but nearly all of it went towards supplies, so that didn't change much.

10) Does your character feel more comfortable with more clothing, or with less clothing?
Depends. Socially, more clothing. Physically, due to her injury, less clothing on her upper right body. This will change when the injury heals up.

11) In what situation was your character the most afraid they’ve ever been?
When Sophia lost her arm and was bleeding to death.

12) In what situation was your character the most calm they’ve ever been?
Ironically, during her third and final encounter with Giovanni in Kanto. Unlike most people, Celeste has what is referred to as cold anger. When you well and truly piss her off, she becomes icily calm - the only indications that she's pissed off and not just unusually calm are the color of her eyes and her quite brusque vocabulary choices.

13) Is your character bothered by the sight of blood? If so, in what way?
Not the sight of blood by itself so much as the sight of injury (bloody or otherwise). Generally, if the injury is serious, she goes into "help" mode pretty much immediately, and if it was life-threatening, she tends to break down or shut down a bit after the fact. Also worth noting that this only applies to others' injuries - she's not really bothered at all by her own.

14) Does your character remember names or faces easier?
Faces.

15) Is your character preoccupied with money or material possession? Why or why not?
No; that's just never been how she is. She enjoys interacting with people and making people happy more than getting stuff.

16) Which does your character idealize most: happiness or success?
Happiness, by far.

17) What was your character’s favorite toy as a child?
A plush Eevee her mother bought her when she was 3. She still has it to this day - it rests on a shelf in her room.

18) Is your character more likely to admire wisdom, or ambition in others?
Wisdom.

19) What is your character’s biggest relationship flaw? Has this flaw destroyed relationships for them before?
She's really bad at talking to others about her problems - she tends to hide them as best she can, as to not burden others with her issues. It's never destroyed relationships, but it has caused some tension in the past; she's trying to work on it.

20) In what ways does your character compare themselves to others? Do they do this for the sake of self-validation, or self-criticism?
All sorts of ways - as a trainer, as a person, as a leader... etc. Definitely in the sense of self-criticism.

21) If something tragic or negative happens to your character, do they believe they may have caused or deserved it, or are they quick to blame others?
Celeste is really quick to blame herself, even when it's not her fault.

22) What does your character like in other people?
Kindness, loyalty, selflessness.

23) What does your character dislike in other people?
Greed, arrogance, discrimination - really just being a dick in general.

24) How quick is your character to trust someone else?
She's actually quite naive. For all the things Celeste's been through, betrayal is not one of them.

25) How quick is your character to suspect someone else? Does this change if they are close with that person?
She's very slow to suspect someone of trickery, doubly so if it's someone she trusts.

26) How does your character behave around children?
Very respectfully, watches what she says, tries to be a good influence, and tries to remove herself from the situation as soon as possible. She's really uncomfortable around kids, because she's never really sure how she's "supposed" to act.

27) How does your character normally deal with confrontation?
She tries her best to defuse volatile situations. Whether or not she succeeds is another story, but...

28) How quick or slow is your character to resort to physical violence in a confrontation?
Earlier in her life, I would have asked "do pokemon battles count?" Now, she really doesn't unless forced.

29) What did your character dream of being or doing as a child? Did that dream come true?
A famous trainer and a hero. She got her wish, all right... Be careful what you wish for.

30) What does your character find repulsive or disgusting?
She doesn't care about looks, but anything that smells really bad gets to her quickly.

31) Describe a scenario in which your character feels most comfortable.
A peaceful situation surrounded by friends, doing.... whatever, really.

32) Describe a scenario in which your character feels most uncomfortable.
Big crowds. She likes being around people; she hates being around crowds.

A combination of the last two.

Depends on the context, I guess? She's stubborn unless others' safety gets involved.

Far more open about her emotions, positive and negative. You might even catch her singing or humming.

Tries to avoid them if at all possible.

37) Is your character more concerned with defending their honor, or protecting their status?
...? Um... Is neither an option?

38) Is your character more likely to remove a problem/threat, or remove themselves from a problem/threat?
The latter.

39) Has your character ever been bitten by an animal? How were they affected (or unaffected)?
Depends on if you count pokemon as animals, given that all but a select few are sapient. Celeste doesn't, so n/a.

The same as anyone else.

41) Does your character feel that they deserve to have what they want, whether it be material or abstract, or do they feel they must earn it first?
Definitely earn it.

42) Has your character ever had a parental figure who was not related to them?
Her teacher in trainer's school would count, I guess.

Unless pokemon count, no.

44) How easy or difficult is it for your character to say “I love you?” Can they say it without meaning it?
Despite how much she enjoys the presence of others, Celeste is rather socially awkward due to her autism, so she was never one for romance to begin with, but after everything she's experienced, it's not something that ever crosses her mind. She's basically asexual; maybe that will change in the future, maybe not. If she were to say that to someone, though, she would sure as hell mean it.

45) What does your character believe will happen to them after they die? Does this belief scare them?
The process of what happens to a soul after death is a scientifically proven fact in the world she lives in. Belief doesn't factor into it.
