  1. Hyunjin’s family has always been special. Her mom always claimed that magic is real, have always told her that “We’ve been blessed by the gods.” One of her mother’s favourite stories is about the sun and the moon, of Choerry and Olivia, and of how they competed for the attention of the people on earth, having only heard tales of the other.
  2.
  3. When her parents died in a tragic accident, she’s inherited the house to herself. She’s gotten used to living alone, but she still misses them, she misses having people she can trust, she can love.
  4.
  5. Most people avoided her, doesn’t trust her or her family. Claims that they were insane, believing in the mystics.
  6.
  7. Hyunjin herself thinks it’s just gibberish, folk tales her parents believed...
  8.
  9. She’s never been more wrong.
  10.
  11. One of the “artefacts” they left was a set of three beads. A wish for each. The first one used was a happy accident, one that still makes her laugh to this day.
  12.
  13. Hyunjin was hungry and wanted an infinite supply of delicious chocolate bread. She was too lazy to go to the store, so she took a chance with the beads she believed to be fake. She’s never been happier to be so wrong. In the corner, a magic box, filled with any bread she wanted. It was a shock, a welcome one, but still a shock. Her parents didn’t lie to her after all.
  14.
  15. After that, however, she’s fallen into a routine, not touching either of the two beads. Bread for breakfast, go to school and come back home. She’s heard murmurs of her name across the school. “Loner”, “Witch,” they said. She never commented on it because they’re not wrong. She was a loner. Is she content with it? Not really, no.
  16.
  17. If only she had a way to solve it. Oh wait, she did. So she waits till it’s the weekend, where she can spend copious amounts of time at home alone and stands, reaching for the beads. Now... how to word her wish.
  18.
  19. Wishing for a friend? That could work, but it’s too vague.
  20. Suddenly, a memory was brought up, of her mother telling about the sun and the moon.
  21.
  22. She knew what to wish for. She grabs her second bead and speaks her wish.
  23.
  24. “I wish for someone to understand, to love, someone as bright as the sun and as beautiful as the moon.”
  25.
  26. Immediately, a bright light shines in the room, blinding her temporarily.
  27.
  28. As she was shaking the light from her eyes, she hears a soft voice echoing through the room. “Hello, I heard you needed a friend. My name is Yerim, but people call me Choerry. I hope we can get along!!”
  29.
  30.
  31. Hyunjin gazes up, immediately looking down, blushing. In front of her, a purple-haired girl, so bright and cheery, that an aura of light is almost exuding around her. Here she is, the personification of the sun, the shining light in the sky, standing in her room.
