Aiko (22) [I don't care about a last name] walks home one night after going drinking with her girl pals. There's a bar close to Japari that's popular with the students, and Aiko is a regular. She's currently 22 and about to finish up her college []On this particular night she walks though a little village near her dorm, and spots an apple tree. Being drunk, she decides it would be a good idea to try to cut one down with an ice shard. She points her finger like a gun, trying and failing to steady it with her other, and manages to let off a shot...that ricochets back at her and cuts into her side. It cuts her pretty bad, and she stumbles into the village in search of a hospital.

Michio Kusaka (24) is 2 years into his residency at the small rural hospital in his village. He works with the head doctor and the lone receptionist, and business is usually slow. Sometimes he feels like he's more of an errand boy, and he's usually the one who goes to the apothecary on the edge of town for supplies. It's run by cake-like girl who is more than happy to provide natural remedies, which the hospital's head doctor prefers over modern medicine. On the very same day that Aiko is stumbling home, Michio is stuck after hours organizing paperwork at the clinic, since he put it off the whole week. He's in the middle of filing away some medical records when he hears a thump on the door.

Aiko wakes up to find Michio has laid out on the examination table, stitching up her wound. She goes to say something, but he cuts her off.
"This is pretty deep, and I see some frostbite around the edges of it." He turns towards her. "Odd, since it's the middle of summer."
Aiko says nothing in response. Magic isn't open knowledge, and she has to tread carefully here since the rural areas have a history of burning witches.
"I...don't know how that could have happened! Hehe..." She grimaces as he continues to stitch her up. To her surprise, he laughs at her poor attempt.
"It does get pretty cold here at night, that could be it." Aiko sighs, thinking her ruse paid off.
"Or it could be the fact that you're an ice witch." Aiko quits breathing, trying to think up someway to bluff this. She thinks about sprinting to the door.
