Westmarches? Plot point?

In the past the Gods were very much alive. The world in which you live in is named Midgard.

Years ago in the dawn of creation the gods of the aether rested.

The Aether gods decided to create Midgard, a composition of their collective power using an omnipotent power known as the Eon Crystal.

The Crystal rested in a realm known as the void. The floating power is a grand purple gem. The gods would travel to the crystal and use their power to create the world, piece by piece. Eventually the world of Midgard was created. The creatures lived as they must. In the chain of nature.
Beasts, Men, Dwarves, Elves all lived with few concerns.
As lesser gods heard of the power and this new world they wished to participate slowly adding their own small creations into the world.
Although being lesser deities they could only use their powers to an extent. The gods of the positive plane would not allow violence and evil to be brought into their world and so they banned all the deities of the negative plane from using the eon crystal.
Over time the gods of the aether forged around the Eon crystal eventually creating a standing point. Helm, god of protection, was given the duty to protect the crystal.

The gods of the negative plane were enraged by this. Some of the smarter gods, such as Loki, snuck into the Eon hall and used the power as Helm slept. Slowly adding in his own trickery to the world.

The more powerful gods of evil created their own eon crystal. A mockery to the real thing but it still contained power. The God Loki disguised himself as Lliira, goddess of Joy, and connected the Eon crystal with the evil stone. This allowed the evil gods to spill their malice and torment into Midgard. The god Nerull corrupted the stone. The more the Eon crystal the more it fractured.

Seeing the breaking of the stone the Good gods realised what was happening. The used the last of their power to tear part of their world into the sky. A floating island with levitating water, the size of a small province. Encasing it in protective shield. This act put great stress on the eon crystal and shattered it. The shards floated throughout the realms, creatures of all shapes and sizes found the magical shards, this granted them power well beyond the norm, it gave the ignorant intellect, the weak strength and the cowards confidence. Throughout the realms many deities have turned away from their community and value their crystals as a right to power, some claiming it was fate they received them.

Six hundred years has passed since the landmass known as Aldron was taken into the sky. Over the course of weeks small shudders could be felt from within the island. The rays of sunlight, augmented by the magical shield, showing their true light. Some even claimed the clouds were getting further away.
Suddenly on a day like no other the island fell, crashing into the land below it. The world has changed. Centuries it has been away from civilisation.
The creatures of darkness, goblins, orcs, gnolls, drow, have all taken their share in the world. The rest has been claimed by the wild.

Small communities still live in the lower lands, many of them being those with power. Dwarves in the mountain halls. Elves protected by magic. Many humans have been taken as slaves by the races of darkness.
