  1. As you rest on the evening prior to the celebration, your mind wanders. Your thoughts are filled with visions of the distant past, faint glimpses into a life long forgotten. You stand at the end of a valley. In the distance, you can see a tower of polished black stone rising from the hills. At your side is an elven woman clad in gleaming silver armor, behind you is a small group of soldiers. You each stand with weapons ready, in her hands an axe whose blade curves like the crescent moon, in your hands a radiant spear seemingly forged of light itself. From the east, you can see pillars of smoke rising and feel the marching of innumerable feet towards you. It isn't long before the horde is upon you, a swarm of goblin-like creatures interspersed with towering orcish brutes. You fight side by side with the elven woman, valiantly holding back the great army from progressing further into the valley. Eventually, you are overrun, separated from your allies, wounded, and forced to retreat amid the carnage. You clutch your side, hoping to slow the bleeding as you make your way further into the valley seeking to regroup. As you step over a small stream, a shrill dissonant roar fills the air, the piercing noise ringing within your very being. The intense pain in your ears causes you to stagger and sway as you lose your sense of balance. When the noise fades and you begin to reorient yourself, you glance down at your wound. The blood that coats your hand and side begins to crystallize. At that moment your thoughts are interrupted by the loud rumbling of a carriage down the street, pulling you back to reality.

  3. As your party converses with Grist and Yniesse, your mind wanders as you again glimpse a fragment of your past. You stand inside a great structure, built of polished white stone and filled with soft white light that emanates from numerous orbs that adorn the walls. To your sides stand four others. To your left, the Elven woman, her silver armor reflecting the light, her crescent shaped great axe hangs on her back. Beyond her is a Kitsune man, wearing loose fitting blue clothes. He wears no weapon that you can see. To your right is a Human man, he wears impossibly heavy looking armor. On his back is a massive shield, nearly as big as him. Beyond him is a Human woman, her dark leathers standing out against the bright environment. Her left hand is adorned with a wicked looking gauntlet, the fingers tipped with lengthy metal claws. In front of the five of you is an Elven man. His armor has the faintest golden hue to it, though it is mostly covered by layers of cloth. On his hip is a longsword, its blade glimmering with bits of starlight. His voice is muffled and indistinct, his words difficult to make out. You manage to catch the following: "Diamond", "Engine", "Eru'salor", "Butterfly", "Inchiostren". As the vision fades, those words are left echoing in your mind.
  4.
  5. Ash rests on a cliff overlooking the valley. In the distance, the city stands, a beam of white light piercing the sky from the engine in the city's center. A swarm of dragons clash against the arcane wards around the city, their relentless onslaught straining the engine to its limits, its light growing brighter and brighter. As the light flashes brightly, the heat threatening to engulf Ash, he finds himself whisked away to a cold, starlit void. Around him are countless others, though he has only a moment to get his bearings before he is unceremoniously shunted out, tumbling to the floor of an unfamiliar forest.

  7. As you rest for the evening, drained after the day-long ordeal of the ritual, your mind wanders. You and the other Eru'salor stand around a large map of the city and surrounding region. The details of the map are indistinct, but it is obvious that this depicts the region that is now the Doomwake. It's clear that tensions amongst you are high as the Elven woman in silver armor angrily protests a suggestion from Kaelora. It seems an attack on the city is imminent and you are planning defensive strategies. The elven woman wants to meet your attackers head on, holding them off at a choke point to the east. Kaelora believes that won't be sufficient and would just cost lives needlessly. The man in heavy armor states his trust in the city's arcane wards. Powered by the Diamond Engine, those within its walls should be untouchable. The Kitsune man ponders the map in silence. The elven man in golden armor looks to you.
  8. "Ashadol, what do you think?"

  28.
  29. Bol'grin - Fortress
  30.
  31. Kaelora - Cunning. She was teleported away by the black butterfly. After some early attempts to fix things, she realized she was alone as the sole surviving Eru'salor. She gives up on restoring Tor and instead establishes a new civilization on the coast- Hanakr and its surrounding areas- the aphorite "the ones who live". she lives out her human life there and is buried as a ruler, her tomb hidden away within the desert sands. She had clashed with Karamentonen in the past, an Eru'salor of Castor who had long since been cast out of Tor. Much of the desert's existence is his doing. Kamnarut was his domain. Kae'lora's actual corpse is within the sandmite hive. Her grand tomb is but a trap riddled bait for thieves.
  32.
  33. Kaelora has a fragment of Karamentonen's seal. Currently, his power is weakened and split between the seals. It's likely he wants to track them down so he can break the sealing magic somehow. Kaelora has one. One was given to Akalloch. One to Domithun. One is buried on Sseth's Post. One is at Kured's Drink. One was given to the Lord-Magus of Kamnarut, though the magocracy of Kamnarut was overthrown quite a long time ago, so where it might be now is hard to say.
  34.
  35. Karamentonen is attempting to break the seal at Kured's Drink first
  36.
  37. Tor is the greatest mortal city, a near-utopia powered by the Diamond Engine. It is a sprawling metropolis of elves and men, built in polished white and black stone. The Diamond Engine sits at the center of the roughly circular city, a large complex that sheds brilliant white light over the city, covering the city in a soft glow even at night. The city has a number of technologies to improve quality of life. The city is ruled by a council of elves and men. The city is protected by a group called the "god touched"- the chosen warriors of the city's patron gods- Kylier, Eska, Uula, Hana, and Ilyre. The leader of the god touched having been blessed by all five.
  38.
  39. Eru'salor = God touched
  40.
  41. The Diamond Engine is a marvel of magic and technology that holds captive the Diamond Dragon Hirastren, siphoning her immense arcane power to fuel the city.
  42.
  43. The Doomwake is created by the destruction of the Diamond Engine, the resulting explosion of arcane energy razing the city and warping the souls of all living creatures in the area.
  44.
  45. The Diamond Engine is destroyed in an attack on Tor by a group of Crystalline Dragons, having made a deal with Seizan to provide them an army- the proto goblins and orcs. Seizan knows the release of Hirastren will cause a calamity, but keeps this knowledge to himself.
  46.
  47. At the moment of the explosion, the Black Butterfly sacrifices its material manifestation to save various people in the city. This greatly weakens it, but preserves the mortal races.
  48.
  49. Ash manages to make his way back closer to the city, resting against a wall as he slowly bleeds out watching the horde of dragons circle the city, attempting to break through its arcane protections. Ash is teleported by the Black Butterfly, but bleeds out elsewhere.
  50.
  51.
  52.
  53. Ash's soul is recovered and raised as a skeleton to learn more about the destruction of Tor. Raised by Talis Laurier.
  54. Talis was working for Ink-Eyes, who want to raise Ash and learn more about the doomwake/destruction of Tor. Inchiostren has plans to resurrect/reincarnate Hirastren. She believes the god-touched are key to making this happen and wants to find and raise them to serve her. Talis' methods leave Ash unware of his past, hoping to have him be more cooperative if he gets back pieces over time. At some point, Talis has a change of heart- something about Ink-Eye's goals or methods causes him to refuse doing something. In an effort to protect Ash and himself, he goes into hiding. However, his knowledge of the situation means he is looking for the other eru'salor so he can get to them before ink-eyes. Talis knows some lore on Kaelora. He is called to join those from the college to aid in retrieving her. He wears covering robes and a shroud to hide his identity and undead nature.
  55.
  56. The Swarm Cult is blessed by Ilyre, who has tasked them with attempting to reverse the effects of the Doomwake so she can claim the many many thousands of souls that were denied by it.
