  1. Nation
  2.
  3. Name: Carpathia
  4.
  5. Race: A 70/20 human/giant mix. The "giants" average eight feet in height, are fairly intelligent, and hold great strength.
  6.
  7. Fluff: Carpathians are skilled with a 'gift of gab'. Proponents of commerce above all else, the rich prosper in an economy and nation built and run for their needs. Though it is rare to see people destitute, the middle class dominates society with a comfortable standard of living. Previous advancements in technology took much hardship out of city living.
  8.
  9. The oligarchy is not blind to change, and puts the safety and advancement of the nation before or in line with their personal gain. Often working together, the oligarchs amass and spend their fortunes at will, always eager to add a new seat to their council.
  10.
  11. Government Type: Behind-The-Scenes Oligarchy
  12.
  13. A republic where votes are bought by individuals or groups, and the public is none-the-wiser. The state takes on the appearance of a republic, but operates from the top down.
  14.
  15. Economy Type: "Free Market" (Laissez Faire)
  16.
  17. Oversight abounds against monopolies, with the state supposedly protecting the 'little guy' in economic matters.
  18.
  19. Businesses, corporations, and banks of the ruling class are mostly immune to government scrutiny and punishment. Loans do not exist and currency is backed in white gold held by state finance institutions.
  20.
  21. The private sector flourishes where it does not interfere with the ruling powers.
  22.
  23. Religion: Secular State
  24.
  25. Religious denominations of all kinds are welcomed by the state, though none enforced. A man's zeal is commonly saved for the pocket-book or the negotiation table. Casually speaking, native-born Carpathians value an investment of currency more than an investment of faith.
