Examined:
Exquisitely crafted from the finest dark wood, this chest has only been
lightly treated so that the original texture of the wood is maintained.
A thin band of silver wraps around the entire piece and serves to keep
the curved lid connected to the base. The silver is expertly engraved
with intricate little leaves and splits across its length when the chest
is opened. Completing this piece are a pair of superbly carved apple
trees that are etched into each side of this chest in perfect detail.

An elegant iron-banded chest of deep forest green rests here, its plush leather interior revealed.
Examined:
Though fairly conventional in design, based on iron-banded wood for
strength, this chest is unusual in appearance due to the deep forest
green colour that has been infused into the wood throughout. This
striking hue has been further enhanced by the placement of glimmering
emeralds along the borders of the chest's lid, each one surrounded by
tiny moonstones which highlight the gems by providing contrast against
the deep green wood. The inside of the chest is lined with rugged
leather, also dyed green, though in a lighter shade than the wood,
allowing more of the leather's grain to show through. In places, the
leather is undyed, its natural light brown shade showing through in the
silhouette of a grand moonhart tree, songbirds and pixies perched in its
branches.

This chest is made from a pale white wood, and is designed in the shape
of a rectangular box. The hinges on the back and the metal that protects
the borders of the lid are crafted from gold, with a bit of a dip in the
front for a lock. Inside the chest is a simple cloth interior designed
to protect the wood.

Examined:
Though plain in shape, this chest has a flat top and sides panelled in
dark veneer, inlaid with elaborate pictures in a virtuoso demonstration
of the artisan's skill. Framed in a scrollwork of blackthorn blossoms,
the top panel shows the Lady Viravain amidst a gloomy woodland scene.
She leans upon her gleaming scythe, fashioned from an inlaid shard of
bone. A hairline crackle in the wood grain defines the cobwebbed
gossamer of her gown, which pools beneath her seated figure. Around Her
gather the animals of Glomdoring: a pallid deer lifting its muzzle to
Her hand, giant beetles wrought from chips of turquoise, wasps patterned
in bands of light and dark wood. Effigies of Glomdoring's Great Spirits
adorn the side panels. One side features a rough, stylised picture of
Crow, while on the other, a female face resplendent in wood of darkest
hue stares with terrible white eyes. Locks of hair writhe snake-like
around her, shapes subtly figured in black trim upon a dark backdrop.
Discreetly tucked away on the back panel, where it would likely face a
wall, is a touching scene in which a willowy young girl clasps a deer's
broken body in her arms. Serrated leaves wrought from blackened iron
bracket the four corners of the chest lid. The chest fastens shut with a
knot of tarnished silver, a viper coiled upon itself, a few of its tiny
scales gleaming amidst the dull patina.

Examined:
Cherry stained darkwood has been expertly crafted into this moderately
sized, traditional chest. A myriad of gems in various colours have been
carefully cut to create a glittering mosaic across the lid. A massive
clock with a mother of pearl face and onyx numbering stands in the
centre of the mosaic, its inner workings spilled out behind it. Gears,
cogs, and springs have been shaped from brilliant garnets, blood red
rubies, and tourmaline diamonds. Bits of goldleaf outline the clockface,
highlighting it against a swirling amethyst and emerald background.
Hinges of polished brass attach the lid to the base of the chest.

Examined:
This rectangular chest is large and heavy, giving a sense of age and
elegance. It has been expertly crafted from the heartwood of a cherry
tree, the dark red wood polished to a soft gleam. Reinforced with strips
of dark ebony along the edges, the chest is defined by strong, straight
lines, though simple spiral patterns have been carved into the corners.
The faces of the chest are unadorned beyond the heavy latches that
secure the lid, allowing the natural grain and colour of the cherry to
shine. The interior is lined with thick sable felt to protect the
treasured contents, padded slightly to absorb any shocks.
