  12. A dark wood chest rests here, its lid propped open.
  13. Examined:
  14. Exquisitely crafted from the finest dark wood, this chest has only been
  15. lightly treated so that the original texture of the wood is maintained.
  16. A thin band of silver wraps around the entire piece and serves to keep
  17. the curved lid connected to the base. The silver is expertly engraved
  18. with intricate little leaves and splits across its length when the chest
  19. is opened. Completing this piece are a pair of superbly carved apple
  20. trees that are etched into each side of this chest in perfect detail.

  34. Appearance:
  35. an elegant iron-banded chest of forest green
  36. Dropped:
  37. An elegant iron-banded chest of deep forest green rests here, its plush leather interior revealed.
  38. Examined:
  39. Though fairly conventional in design, based on iron-banded wood for
  40. strength, this chest is unusual in appearance due to the deep forest
  41. green colour that has been infused into the wood throughout. This
  42. striking hue has been further enhanced by the placement of glimmering
  43. emeralds along the borders of the chest's lid, each one surrounded by
  44. tiny moonstones which highlight the gems by providing contrast against
  45. the deep green wood. The inside of the chest is lined with rugged
  46. leather, also dyed green, though in a lighter shade than the wood,
  47. allowing more of the leather's grain to show through. In places, the
  48. leather is undyed, its natural light brown shade showing through in the
  49. silhouette of a grand moonhart tree, songbirds and pixies perched in its
  50. branches.

  67. A pale rectangular chest rests here with its lid open.
  68. Examined:
  69. This chest is made from a pale white wood, and is designed in the shape
  70. of a rectangular box. The hinges on the back and the metal that protects
  71. the borders of the lid are crafted from gold, with a bit of a dip in the
  72. front for a lock. Inside the chest is a simple cloth interior designed
  73. to protect the wood.

  87. Appearance:
  88. a chest adorned in dark veneer
  89. Dropped:
  90. A chest panelled in dark veneer stands here, its lid wide open.
  91. Examined:
  92. Though plain in shape, this chest has a flat top and sides panelled in
  93. dark veneer, inlaid with elaborate pictures in a virtuoso demonstration
  94. of the artisan's skill. Framed in a scrollwork of blackthorn blossoms,
  95. the top panel shows the Lady Viravain amidst a gloomy woodland scene.
  96. She leans upon her gleaming scythe, fashioned from an inlaid shard of
  97. bone. A hairline crackle in the wood grain defines the cobwebbed
  98. gossamer of her gown, which pools beneath her seated figure. Around Her
  99. gather the animals of Glomdoring: a pallid deer lifting its muzzle to
  100. Her hand, giant beetles wrought from chips of turquoise, wasps patterned
  101. in bands of light and dark wood. Effigies of Glomdoring's Great Spirits
  102. adorn the side panels. One side features a rough, stylised picture of
  103. Crow, while on the other, a female face resplendent in wood of darkest
  104. hue stares with terrible white eyes. Locks of hair writhe snake-like
  105. around her, shapes subtly figured in black trim upon a dark backdrop.
  106. Discreetly tucked away on the back panel, where it would likely face a
  107. wall, is a touching scene in which a willowy young girl clasps a deer's
  108. broken body in her arms. Serrated leaves wrought from blackened iron
  109. bracket the four corners of the chest lid. The chest fastens shut with a
  110. knot of tarnished silver, a viper coiled upon itself, a few of its tiny
  111. scales gleaming amidst the dull patina.

  125. Appearance:
  126. a clockwork chest with a glass mosaic
  127. Dropped:
  128. Glittering in an inviting manner, a darkwood chest stands here, its surface embellished with a mosaic of springs, cogs, and gears.
  129. Examined:
  130. Cherry stained darkwood has been expertly crafted into this moderately
  131. sized, traditional chest. A myriad of gems in various colours have been
  132. carefully cut to create a glittering mosaic across the lid. A massive
  133. clock with a mother of pearl face and onyx numbering stands in the
  134. centre of the mosaic, its inner workings spilled out behind it. Gears,
  135. cogs, and springs have been shaped from brilliant garnets, blood red
  136. rubies, and tourmaline diamonds. Bits of goldleaf outline the clockface,
  137. highlighting it against a swirling amethyst and emerald background.
  138. Hinges of polished brass attach the lid to the base of the chest.
  139. Closed: (NOTE: Same as dropped, only shows when closed.)

  142. The Charites have returned your proposed design for further revisions. See DESIGN LIST <cartel>. The following comments were made regarding the design:
  143. Please adjust "center" in the examined to "centre". In the same line, "innerworkings" should be two separate words. Thank you.

  156. Dropped:
  157. A burnished chest of gleaming cherrywood rests here, its contents displayed to the world.
  158. Examined:
  159. This rectangular chest is large and heavy, giving a sense of age and
  160. elegance. It has been expertly crafted from the heartwood of a cherry
  161. tree, the dark red wood polished to a soft gleam. Reinforced with strips
  162. of dark ebony along the edges, the chest is defined by strong, straight
  163. lines, though simple spiral patterns have been carved into the corners.
  164. The faces of the chest are unadorned beyond the heavy latches that
  165. secure the lid, allowing the natural grain and colour of the cherry to
  166. shine. The interior is lined with thick sable felt to protect the
  167. treasured contents, padded slightly to absorb any shocks.
