Dream: 7/29/2020

I woke up one day, I assumed it was around 8am because me, my sister and one of her close friends are in Tokyo Japan at midnight. No clue how this happened or how we got here. But we were here now. After some wandering around, we found some random dude who happened to speak English and said he’d take us to his house. We agreed to him like it was nothing even tho that’s weird.

We took this bus to get to his house, it was like any Vancouver bus except some of the things you grab on were actually seatbelts. I unknowing grabbed onto one of these and took a nasty fall and took out a dude. We both said sorry to eachother in English. Eventually we got to his townhouse at like prob 1am. His entire family was awake and welcome to letting us live with them before we got home.

This is when it gets good

His oldest son, took me downstairs. He knew very little English but knew something we all would enjoy. Some good ass kirby. He booted up the Wii U which for some reason took gba cartridges and turned on something amazing. It was a katam romhack of an official beta “randomizer” released only in japan in 2003 (Yes, I am aware katam released in 04). A lot of the rooms were actually completely different from the final game (like different assets used). I was a little disappointed when I couldn’t mix wheel but the mans son was impressed by my somewhat limited ability to control missile.

I think later in the night he went to bed, I went back to the Wii u menu and saw the sons account name and it was Pletty. After waking up I took a look at the RTAJ twitch vod and surely enough, the mans son was a much younger version of Pletty who was a little younger than me in this dream. The next day, it was about the middle of the day in Japan and Pletty had invited one of his friends over. She was a white girl with two yellow pigtails. She decided to choose the game. It was Kirby's Epic Yarn. So myself, my sister, Pletty and his friend decided to play a rotation game. I was second so the level I got to play was Flower Fields. One of the simpler levels in the game but Pletty’s friend was very impressed with my smooth movement. I think Pletty was telling her about RTA in Japanese and she was saying watching me play inspired her to try speedrunning the game.

I was at the dinner table eating dinner, when I had found out Pletty’s friend was in fact Yutadon (ok I know Yutadon is a guy but I’ve heard his voice like once and he always used the the RTAJ emotes so I guess that’s what my brain associated Yutadon as. All of a sudden, news broke that Plettys dad had tested positive for Covid-19. There was a lot of arguing in Japanese so me and pletty just went downstairs to play more katam.

While playing more katam, I asked pletty if I could have one of his beta katam carts. He said they only work on Japanese Wii U’s which I assume was a nice way of him saying no. I woke up shortly after.
