  28. ------ Class Skills
  29. Avenger (EX)
  30. As one who’s legend has been inextricably conflated with that of the Devil or the Adversary in Judeo-Christian mythology, Lucifer is naturally compatible with the Avenger class container and therefore receives this skill. As the “root of all evil” for four billion people in this world, his rank in this skill is without measure. Simply being in Lucifer’s proximity is enough to spark feelings of irrational fear, anger, and revulsion in bystanders, and Nebuchadnezzar feeds on these emotions in a horrible positive feedback loop. Taking damage greatly amplifies the effect.
  31.
  32. Memory Correction (C)
  33. A skill bestowed upon all Avenger-class servants. The attacking power of Lucifer is greatly strengthened whenever attacking an opponent who is unaware of his presence. While theoretically powerful, Lucifer’s identity in the public consciousness as “Lucifer” makes it virtually impossible to ignore or forget him, therefore this skill is difficult to implement in practice. For this reason, Lucifer’s rank in this skill has received a substantial rank down. Convincing the world that the Devil does not exist should be among his Master’s highest priorities.
  34.
  35. ------ Personal Skills
  36. Charisma (A+)
  37. Lucifer’s legend is synonymous with temptation and trickery: striking cursed bargains, manipulating individuals to their damnation, sowing chaos and destruction with clever words and false promises, Lucifer’s deadliest weapon is his tongue. The absolute control Lucifer has over hearts and minds is beyond what humans can achieve through skill alone. It is more akin to a spell (curse). Lucifer denies employing magecraft to sway people’s opinions, of course, but how much is that word worth? Entire populations bend to his will at a word.
  38.
  39. Golden Gifts (Cursed) (False) (A+)
  40. A unique variant of Golden Rule. The temptation that Lucifer offers – the possession of “all the treasures in the world.” As someone who purports to own every conceivable valuable thing, Lucifer is unique in his willingness to share these treasures with others. For a price. Should the buyer agree to the price, the treasure is theirs, along with the curse each treasure bears. Each curse is unique and designed to bring about the most ironic doom for the buyer in question. Lucifer considers designing these curses quite entertaining. A word of caution to the greedy Master: Lucifer’s treasures are false. Even if the treasure seems genuine at first, when enough time passes it will inevitably reveal itself as a hollow forgery. This is usually when the damnation sets in. Masters are highly encouraged to ignore his offers.
  41.
  42. Innocent Monster (A)
  43. Nebuchadnezzar II being conflated with the Judeo-Christian Devil is a recent phenomenon. The connection between his alias “Lucifer, Son of the Morning” with the Devil is widely disputed by scholars and remains in the public consciousness largely due to traditions dating back to the Renaissance. As an individual whose legend was severely distorted by later writers, Nebuchadnezzar II naturally inherits this skill. This skill is why Nebuchadnezzar inherits all the abilities and appearance of the Devil himself. This is both a blessing, as they confer enormous power, and a curse, for they doom him to an eternity of misery. This personal skill cannot be removed.
  44.
  45. Divinity (B)
  46. As a fallen angel who was cast from Heaven, Lucifer naturally has a high rank of Divinity. This skill, which would normally be rank EX due to being second only to God, has been severely ranked down as a component of his banishment.
  47.
  48. ------ Noble Phantasms
  49. How you have fallen from heaven, Morning Star, son of the dawn! (Exposing the hypocrisy of God)
  50. Anti-populace, rank A++
  51. Maximum number of targets: yes
  52. Lucifer famously rebelled against God, amassing one-third of Heaven’s angels to wage war against the Creator in the name of self-determination. Lucifer and his angels were defeated, but these angels remain eternally loyal to their commander. As a Heroic Spirit, Lucifer manifests this feat by summoning this army. Upon summoning, they crawl out of the shadows and the other foul places of the Earth. A horde of cursed and deformed beasts they are, their physical forms as defiled as their souls. Their shared goal with Lucifer is simple: the complete eradication of all God’s creation. Lucifer’s army appears only to wantonly slaughter all life in their path. These demons leave behind blackened wastelands in their wake. Undoubtedly their efforts to remake the world in their own designs after purging the Creator’s, but works from such cursed hands can only themselves be cursed and anathema to life. Only defeat in battle, cessation of mana supply, or the direct intervention of God can prevent this rampage from consuming the Earth. The longer Lucifer remains in the world before activating this Noble Phantasm and the more hatred he has a chance to amass, the more demons he can summon. Lucifer can summon one or two individual demons to infiltrate locations or spread terror without invoking the name of this Noble Phantasm, but his preference is to unleash his army and watch the world burn. He has little hope of his own success, not after his defeat in Heaven. These actions are purely out of spite for mankind.
  53.
  54. ------ Background
  55. Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon was not an otherworldly font of evil in life. He was a warrior king in the Fertile Crescent, preceded by other reasonably anonymous warrior kings in the Fertile Crescent and succeeded by hundreds of other reasonably anonymous warrior kings in the Fertile Crescent. His infamy is due to a curse from the Israelites following his conquest of Jerusalem. Though they were utterly defeated, the vengeful Hebrews wrote prophecies foretelling Nebuchadnezzar’s future downfall. He was dubbed “Lucifer, the son of the morning” in passages of the Book of Isaiah written during the time of the Babylonian conquest. This title references the planet Venus, which in ancient times symbolized hubris and the inevitable ruin found by those gripped by hubris due to the star shining brightly, briefly, before falling from the sky each morning. The imagery of Nebuchadnezzar prophetically “falling from heaven” was noticed by medieval and renaissance scholars who connected it with imagery of the Devil being cast from heaven in the Book of Revelation. From that moment onward, the legends of Nebuchadnezzar, Lucifer, and the Devil were intertwined. Authors in the West have used the names interchangeably for hundreds of years, regardless of debate in scholarly circles as to the connections’ legitimacy. This collective repurposing of Nebuchadnezzar’s identity has warped his presence in the Throne of Heroes, transforming him from a Babylonian king to source of all evil. Quite the posthumous upgrade.

  57. ------ Appearance
  58. Whatever appearance Nebuchadnezzar II sported in life has been subsumed by that of Lucifer. As the personification of temptation, Lucifer is an adept shapeshifter. His magecraft specializes in it. Lucifer has an uncanny ability to pick the right appearance for any given occasion, for any given group of people. If that means a change of clothes, so be it. If that means a change of body, so be it. These forms mean nothing to Lucifer, who is of the opinion that nothing could ever compare to his original angelic form anyway so what’s the point? All that matters is furthering his mission of ruining the people around him. One may ask if Lucifer even has a “true” form at all. The answer is “yes,” though a wise Master will never ask him to reveal it. Just as Lucifer’s minions were cursed with abominable forms, so too was Lucifer himself. In keeping with his role as the leader of the rebellion, his curse is far worse than any of his servant’s. Lucifer is deeply disgusted by this form and perpetually disguises himself to hide it.
  59.
  60. ------ Personality
  61. In theory, Nebuchadnezzar’s rank of Innocent Monster is not severe enough to completely overwrite his personality with that of Lucifer. In theory. In practice, the overwhelming strength of Lucifer’s persona makes it difficult for Nebuchadnezzar to surface. If a single word could be used to describe both individuals, it would be “pride.” This compatibility helps reinforce Lucifer’s dominance. Lucifer himself is prideful to a fault and has a bottomless capacity for spite. He acts only to get revenge on mankind for the sin of being God’s preferred creation. Sharing his damnation in Hell is a fitting punishment in Lucifer’s eyes. If one thinks that they can even minorly inconvenience Lucifer without visiting wildly disproportionate punishment on themselves, think again. If Lucifer submits to a command in any way, it is only because he knows how to turn this disadvantage into an advantage and then repay this indignity back in blood. A wise Master does not forget this, no matter how many honeyed words they hear. To Lucifer’s chagrin, Nebuchadnezzar surfaces mostly to display his infamous paranoia and neuroticism. This has been the cause for more than one failed plot over the course of Lucifer’s summonings. However the two souls are bound to the same container so there’s not much he can do about it.
  62.
  63. ------ Combat
  64. Lucifer has seen more than his fair share of combat during the war in heaven and knows his way around a fight. He can be safely depended on to fight on even terms with all but the most skilled servants. Despite this prowess, Lucifer considers fighting mankind beneath him. His preferred tactic is manipulating other servants into fighting each other while laughing at the ensuing suffering. A wise Master would not discourage this tactic out of hand, for he is extremely proficient at doing this.
  65.
  66. ------ Wish for the Holy Grail
  67. To send the souls of all humans directly to Hell.
  68.
  69. ------ Dialogue
  70. When summoned: “Well this is annoying. I can’t say I’m happy helping you insects, but the Throne was boring me so if you’d please put those weapons down, I’d like to cooperate and stay for a bit. Let’s shake on it. Kidding, ahaha…”
  71.
  72. Bond 1: “I’m not in the mood for talking. Go bother someone else. I’m certainly not here to try making friends… I don’t care how many other Avengers sit at your lunch table, I’m really not interested.”
  73.
  74. Bond 2: “Let me carry that. This is nothing for me, I was one of His angels after all, and you’ve been at it all day… Stop looking at me like that. If you get hurt, my chances of being sent back to the Throne increase. That’s all. Really.”
  75.
  76. Bond 3: “If you keep being reckless in missions like that we’re going to have a real problem. It’s bad enough you refuse my assistance in battle, but this is too much. Let me help you, Master. You’ll just keep getting hurt otherwise. Something that neither of us want.”
  77.
  78. Bond 4: “Master, please. I see the bags under your eyes, the faltering of your steps. When was the last time you slept? You deserve so much more. I can help you. Help me help you. Just say the word so I know that you’re sure.”
  79.
  80. Bond 5: “You are hopeless, aren’t you, `Master?’ That should not have worked, but here you are anyways. Mine, forever. And we’re going to have so much fun together… It’ll be our secret for now. Why bother ruining the surprise early?”
  81.
  82. If you have Gilgamesh (any version), Enkidu, Ishtar, or Ereshkigal: “I feel a strange kinship… Is this my other half’s doing? I don’t like it.”
  83.
  84. If you have any of the Saints: “It goes without saying that I can’t stand these people. Livestock, all of them.”
