4. Defson Housing Authority
5. The Defson housing authority is a district of government funded housing within eastern Los Santos. The tall, light blue projects established in 1962 has become a dark breeding gang for several street gangs of predominantly Hispanic origin. 64% of Defson residents are immigrants with only 27% over the age of 15 having a post-secondary certificate, diploma or degree. The Defson projects are notorious for gang related violence and have seen a 65% increase in gang related crime from 2017 to 2018. The housing authority was once home to the infamous Varrio Pachucos 14 street gang and is well known for the norteño population within the projects.
6.
7. The average income for residents of the Defson projects is approximately half of the average for other Los Santos citizens. The majority of families living in the housing authority are classified as low income with 70% of the population living below America's national poverty line. The area has been stigmatized as a high crime area with drug dealers and addicts, prostitutes and pimps alike. Apart from the poor living conditions within the projects, the mistrust between the local police division and residents of the Defson projects has long been a issue. Police face a huge challenge attempting to help or provide security to a place which refuses all help. As one of Los Santos' poorest neighborhoods, the Defson housing authority is thought to have been forgotten by government officials and is locally considered to be impossible to change.

11. My Crew Killz
12. Following the closure of the Varrio Pachucos 14 street gang, the projects began to see a new wave of norteño gangsters. My Crew Killz or MCK is a norteño street gang who actively claim the Defson authority as their own. The gang was started by Alonso "Kicker" Guzman and Luis "Lui" Beltran who were both associated with Firmona Pandilleros 14 and Varrio Pachucos 14. The teens who grew up within the poverty ridden projects started as a small tagger clique, spraying the walls of the projects in traditional red paint. What was once just seen as a group of harmless taggers is now the biggest norteño street gang within Los Santos. Luis Beltran was arrested August of 2018 for first degree murder of a seventeen year old and is currently serving a life sentence within San Anne penitentiary.
13.
14. Early within the formation of the group, another power was emerging. Demon Gang 424 aka DG424 is a defunct asian street gang which resided within the Defson projects. Following Luis' arrest and the formation of DG424, the group of teenagers began to take the clique much more seriously, transitioning them into a full fledged street gang. With Luis Beltrans introduction to the San Anne penitentiary, the group began to pay tribute to Nuestra Familia, this certified the gangs place in norteño gang culture. The Defson projects became a hunting grounds during this time. Shootings were a daily occurrence as full war broke out between My Crew Killz and DG424. Eventually, DG424 gave into the pressure and many of the members stopped gang banging out of fear or left the projects to go elsewhere. 15. A memorial put up by locals for Josue Santos.[/aligntable]
16.
17. Following the norteño culture, the group of teenagers began to create street politics with many of the sureño sets within Los Santos. The most notable rivalry is with the Wicked Brown Suspects 13 gang. The war began when Josue "Sway" Santos was gunned down by members of WBS13 just outside of his home in the Defson region. Shootings and attacks began commonplace as the group seeked out revenge for their fallen brother. To this day the rivalry exists with each group relentlessly attacking the other back and forth to no avail. Many casualties are reported as a cause of this war and it dosent appear to be slowing down.
18.
19. Recently, a 16 year old documented member of the My Crew Killz street gang was incarcerated for the murder of a Los Santos police officer. The teen who was later identified as Ernesto Noboa following the release of an America wide warrant is currently serving a life sentence alongside Luis Beltran within the walls of the San Anne penitentiary. The groups ruthless actions have sparked major interest by the LSPD. The Gangs and Narcotics unit can frequently be seen overlooking the projects while police officers try to steer the youth out of the path to destruction. Several arrests have been made and many teens have been added to the LSPD's GangNET, a network in which gang affiliated members are documented.
20.
21. The group is also known to be very involved within the drug and weapons trade in East LS. Law enforcement today work diligently to try and understand the gangs culture and background in hopes of putting a stop to one of the most vicious street gangs the Defson projects have ever seen.

25. Project Kingz Crew
26.
27. Alonso “Kicker” Guzman was arrested by Los Santos police in 2017 and got released a year later, following the extinction of Demon Gang 424. After his release he began his own clique within the Defson Projects, leaving Nathan "Crook" Carillo in charge of My Crew Killz. Project Kingz Crew was formed within the projects along with My Crew Killz and the two cliques are very close together. The group which was originally formed within the projects can now be found all over the Defson authority, members are found on all ends of Franklin and Felton.
28.
29. Not much is known about the Project Kingz Crew but they are becoming more and more relevant as times goes on. It is only a matter of time before the Project Kings Crew ends up a huge force within the Defson community. Members have already began to make a name with violent acts such as robberies, shootings and assaults.

45. My Crew Killz or MCK is a clique of teenagers who live around the Defson Projects in East LS, which is known for it's highly Hispanic population. Although the group is predominantly Hispanic, they are not racially explicit and allow anyone who has proved themselves within their ranks. The youth who have grown up in one of the harshest environments in eastern LS tend to turn to the illegal side of life as opportunities are at a minimum in such a poverty ridden neighborhood.
46.
47. The teens who have nothing to lose can commonly be found engaging in petty crime such as vandalism, robbery, bank fraud, drug distribution and a plethora more, all with the goal of rising above their poverty ridden roots. While some may consider these acts immoral, these teens see it as a way out for them and their families. Although the teens feel as if nothing can stop them, the recent rise in crime has lead to a harsh reaction by the LSPD which has now turned the once peaceful area into a active hunting grounds for criminals and police alike.
48.
49. Walking through the Defson area, tags can be seen sprawling all over the walls with the name MCK plastered all over them. Although the group is made up of predominantly young teenagers, that does not stop them from actively claiming the Franklin Projects as their own. Police recently responded to a call when a group of teenagers were supposedly pulling up to people asking what gang they're in. The young teens who were supposedly armed were gone by the time police arrived and so far no arrests have been made.
50.
51. The sudden increase in crime is worrying as the crimes begin to get more and more violent. What was once just graffiti and "harmless" crime has since turned into armed robbery, drug distribution and other high risk, high reward crimes. Only time can tell what is next in this streak of delinquent behavior.

62. One person is dead after gunfire erupted in broad daylight right out front of the Defson Projects this Wednesday evening.
63. Multiple shots were heard outside of the projects in the area of Franklin Avenue and Burt Drive shortly before 8:30PM.
64. One victim was immediately rushed to a trauma centre where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
65. Police say the victims fleed in a black SUV without license plates, narrowly avoiding pedestrians.
66.
67. “We heard multiple, multiple gunshots. They came in two sets. There was a set of three to four, four to five and then a pause and then another set of literally three to four, four to five,” one man told the LS Times.
68.
69. Homicide detectives have now taken over the case and detectives have said investigators are working to gather as much evidence as possible.
70. A candlelight has been put up for the victim of the shooting who was locally known as "Sway".
71.
72. “Any kind of video that people might have or might find, we’re talking dashcam video from cars, video from CCTV cameras from businesses, any kind of video would be extremely helpful and we ask that you contact investigators to help piece together what happened." A detective said.

77. Robbery on Lowden Avenue, East LS.

81. Heavily armed tactical officers and police dogs continue to search for two armed males after a convenience store robbery in East LS on Tuesday evening. Police tell the Los Santos Times they were called to a 7/11 in a plaza near Degnan street and Lowden avenue at 10:21 p.m. for a report of a robbery. Witnesses told police two men armed with firearms entered the 7/11 and tried to rob employees as well as the register. The two men fled the scene in a vehicle without license plates with an undisclosed amount of money. Police began to leave the area at 2 a.m. after failing to find any suspects.
82.
83. “Fearing for their safety, the victims complied with the demands and the men fled with a quantity of money,” according to a LSPD news release announcing the robbery. One of the gunman was seen wearing a white mask, black sweater and grey sweat pants. The second gunman was wearing an red bandana with a black sweater and black sweats. This heist is indicative of an alarming trend in East LS: robberies are on the rise as well as gang related crime. Just last week a young teenage boy was killed due to gang violence in the same vicinity. The Gangs and Narcotics unit has began to speculate that the robbery was committed by local gang members due to the ruthless nature of the attack and color of the mask used by one of the gunman.
84.
85. Anyone with information can call police at 213-509-6951, ext. 3410 or LS Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-1543. The following picture was released shortly after the robbery by Los Santos Police.
