- It’s not as though there’s much to do
- I’m just ensconced in darkness
- Lying on the bed
- Time passes by slowly
- As the hurricane whips the world
- And unleashes its raging fury for all to see
- The darkened day in my shuttered room
- Lingers and continues on and on and on
- I wait and wait in darkness
- Hoping for electricity to return
- And yet, I have no clue just when it is that will happen
- Day turns into night outside, but in a shuttered room
- Both are equally as dark
- There is time before everything ends
- I once more hope and wait for wi-fi, along with electricity to come back
- But I know inside that isn’t going to happen for a while
- I know this area is one where hurricanes pass
- But it’s been such a while since the last time one happened
- I had almost forgotten what living through one is like
- Living through a hurricane, even when securely inside a house
- Isn’t much better
- It’s still very uncomfortable
- No electricity, no internet, no air conditioning
- But it is livable
- I have no clue when the power will return
- I hope it’s soon, but again, I don’t know
- I do know, however, that we will get past this
- The storm will pass
- Life will slowly return to normality
- And us once more ensconced in our homes
- Will blissfully enjoy our conveniences
- Forgetting the experience of living through a hurricane
- Until such time as it comes again
