i'm assuming you're talking about civ 6, since that's what this forum is about.
As someone that has got the game as a gift and has "only" 20 hours of the game. I would say it comes down to whether or not you're willing to wait for another year for roughly game, that'll be significantly cheaper.
I mean it is true the AI is kinda dumb, but if you're like me i'd say the digital deluxe edition worth getting right now. Since the new mechanics alone are a lot of fun to play around and the diversety in games you can succesfully have on higher diffuculties, already make enough of a switchup to let it shine as a standalone game. Another point is that the game already feels kind of complete (complete in the sense that there mostly likely won't be more mechanics to be added not that it's finished) and most likely won't be switched up much anymore.
