  13. Things that are generally not expected: a ship in transit to Kai, having its Gellar field failing an instant before it returns from the Warp to real space, with the only consequence being the depositing of a very tall space marine in front of the Inquisitor on the bridge.
  14.
  15. Naturally, the Inquisitor's retinue considered this to be a sign from the Emperor himself, and said space marine was ... strongly encouraged to join the Inquisitor's team, as they'd just lost their previous heavy hitter and this marine was definitely larger than the standard issue. And remaining within that Inquisitor's service until his retirement forty years later, one of only two who didn't either retire or die.
  16.
  17. That marine seemed to serve nicely as a good luck charm for the team; it likely didn't hurt that occasionally, when the mission was particularly harrowing and required military intervention that was otherwise unavailable, a chapter of marines seemed to show up just when needed most. A chapter with armor remarkably similar to his own, though not identical. And not only was he lucky, but the warp being notably calmer while on board the inquisitor's ship, machine spirits were surprisingly chatty and helpful in his presence, and psykers seemed to falter when his attention was upon them.
  18.
  19. Truly an interesting fellow, even if he disappeared on the day that he retired in much the same way he arrived.
