  46. In the future, humanity has constructed several space colonies. But the corrupt Treize and his organization Oz have manipulated the United Earth Sphere Alliance into controlling earth and its colonies with an iron fist. To counteract this extreme measure, rebel colonies launch Operation: Meteor; an attempt to smuggle Mobile Suits made of Gundanium alloy to earth to combat the corruption and free earth and the colonies from Oz's control. One of these "Gundams" is piloted by Heero Yuy, who is shot down and is forced to blend in to enemy society. Now up against social issues with a girl named Relena and Oz and its puppets, Heero must unite with other rebels and save his people.

Five young pilots, equipped with advanced mobile suits called "Gundams," are sent to Earth to wage guerilla war against Oz and its Alliance puppets. The war to decide humanity's destiny begins...

I had watched alot of UC Gundam and was getting somewhat tired of it...I needed something new and fresh(not to say UC isn&#39;t, I just saw too much of it).Some of my friends told me how great Gundam Wing is so I thought I&#39;d give it a try....<br/><br/>Aghh....this &quot;series&quot; is a complete and total rip off of the original gundam.Zechs? A total clone of Char Anazable(even die hard GW fans can&#39;t deny this, just look at them!!!) right down to his history(father was a political activist who was murdered, now he wears a mask and wants revenege). The plot itself is convoluted and again a ripoff of not just the orignal gundam, but all the gundam series up to Char&#39;s Counterattack.<br/><br/>Oh, and for those who think this is a comparsion and not a review,you couldn&#39;t be anymore wrong.The fact is gundam is a FRANCHISE! GW IS SUPPOSED TO BE COMPARED TO THE OTHER GUNDAM SERIES.DO YOU COMPARE THE PREQUELS OF STAR WARS TO THE SEQUELS? YES? THANK YOU!<br/><br/>Another thing, no warships? What&#39;s with that? Oh that talk about battlefield philosophy and human nature and pacifism?Its just trying to make the show more intelligent.Too bad it doesn&#39;t succeed. Most of this show consists of is the Gundam pilots destroying enemy cannon folder MS episode after episode. The characters are one dimenisional and flawed. Is Wufei all about honor and justice? Absolutly!That&#39;s why he goes around killing OZ soliders while they&#39;re sleeping in bed, because THAT&#39;S the honorable thing to do. Heero? A machine. Relena? A pain Treize? He forgot the most important rule in war and fighting: there are no rules, just survival.Oh and he supposedly doesn&#39;t like long range weapons because they&#39;re &quot;cowardly&quot;, yet he uses the dober gun in the series final battle.....<br/><br/>The final battle is a crock as well. It comes down to hundreds of OZ MS vs hundreds White Fang virgo MDs.Sounds good right? Lots of casualities that depict the horrors of war? Nope, virgos are unmanned MS.So all it comes down to is the same OZ cannon folder that get blown up ep after ep by Gundams now get blown up by unmanned drones. oh joy.<br/><br/>GW had potiential but it fell flat on its face. GW Endless Waltz is a different story, the characters actually have some depth and the story makes sense(although its a rip off of Gundam Z &amp; ZZ).EW is what GW should have been
  49. Yes, we can compare Gundam Wing to previous Gundam series, but that would not show the real greatness of GW. The US version of Gundam Wing has to be, without a doubt, the best translated/dubbed Japanese cartoon to make its way to US shores.<br/><br/>The voices are great, the content saved, and there is almost no censoring at all on the midnight run on Cartoon Network. Compare this to current cartoons Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z with their horrible rewrites, content change and censoring. Gundam Wing is spectacular in its translation, retaining everything from the Japanese original, including title cards, music, and even Japanese lettering.<br/><br/>Gundam Wing is not simply a cartoon, it is an experience to those of us that cannot get our hands on pure Japanese cartoons (or if do, get bad fansub, professional dub, or just don&#39;t understand Japanese). This is a first taste of a pure Japanese cartoon series.<br/><br/>I hope Funimation, the translators of Dragon Ball Z, take a good look at Gundam Wing and change their methods for their upcoming episode translations.<br/><br/>We have come a long way from Speed Racer, Gigantor, and Astro Boy. . . though they have charm in themselves.
