At some point, he created the Philosopher's Stone, an item of immense magical power. With the Stone, he created the Elixir of Life, which extended his life. Although it is clear that he used the Elixir to greatly extend his life, it is not specified whether he used the Stone's powers to make himself greatly wealthy, as the Stone is also capable of turning any metal into gold.

Since Nicolas' life ended, the reputation of the Flamel family sank into the Darker arts, leaving behind the reputation of the Elixir of Life. Despite the efforts of the conglomerates, the reputation of the family has been undoubtedly marred and is steeped in crime, with notorious ties to Undesirables. Having said this, though, they have strong ties with Healing and the distribution of cigarettes and whiskey.[/font][/div]

Approval for the child to take the family name must come from the head of family; hyphenated names are not permitted.

The Flamels have developed into a more neutral family. You are welcome to choose your character's path and there is no obligation to be dark but remember that IC reactions will vary across the family. As well as this, Flamels operate under [i]familia ante omnia[/i] ("family before everything"), so be aware that unjust harm caused by family, to family, is not permitted and will call for your name to be stripped and your loss of relation to Flamel and access to its assets.

If your character dies through use of dark magic, it is permanent. Exceptions can be made if the death was prior discussed with the head of family. These cannot be reversed without Horcrux knowledge.

Excessive inactivity on your Flamel is likely to lead to your removal from the family.[/div][/font][/div][/div]
